:j Let's save this thread from oblivion! Besides, gratitude is good for one's health (and it is free!).

    Here's mine for today:

1 - Leftover rice from last night turned into breakfast rice, sultanas and pumpkin seed porridge, by adding rice milk, warming up and sweetening with a spoonful of honey

2 - Good sunny and mild day, excellent for laundry, done two loads and drying in the garden!

3 - Drinking real strong-ish (for me) tea from my real, warmed pot covered with lovely teacosy (knitted by a dear friend) after all the lukewarm super-weak cups of tea I had in Italy (gosh have I become completely English then? )

4 - Starting my veg box order again and knowing that I am in charge of what I eat instead of depending from others to cook "special veg meals" for me and questioning my motivations for the millionth time (Italian family members).

5 - Anticipating the pleasure of going to a friend's birthday meal tonight, a very OS family if ever there was one!

Love to all, it is soooo good to be back!

    Caterina
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Here's mine:

    1. Finding reduced leeks and plotting leek and tatty soup.
    2. Getting help from OS guys on what to do with turkey breasts for dinner
    3. Knowing I have plenty of stuff to make cakes, twinks and flapjacks
    4. Finding a forgotten tub of bolognaise sauce in the freezer (that's a pasta bolognaise sorted)
    5. Knowing it's Friday and I don't work weekends so will have time to make soup and twinks at the weekend ;)
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • 1. Another lovely walk to the library in the sunshine, such a treat for the middle of November.

    2. No heating on at all today due to the mild weather. Another treat for the middle of November, in fact it's almost like a birthday present.

    3. Baking bread, scones and mince pies, another contibutory factor to keep the house warm.

    4. Making lemon curd, a family tradition at this time of year.

    5. Crocheting an edging round a patchwork squares baby shawl that I have made entirely from my oddments.

  • Ok, here are my five things for today :)

    1. Making the first of my Christmas presents
    2. Going shopping and only bulking out what's in my cupboards
    3. Reading my Mum's latest home magazine instead of buying my own
    4. Noting down ideas from above home magazine to copy either as gifts or for my house
    5. Going to my parent's for dinner and enjoying their company on a Friday night instead of going out on the town

    Todays plans :

    1. my raspberry canes arrived this morning, so they can go out in the raspberry trench I have prepared for them and hopefully we'll have yummy fresh berries in a year or two.
    2. going to crack on with DD's crocheted scarf - my hands have been idle the last couple of weeks so need to get busy again
    3. bottle up the sloe gin
    4. bottle up my first lot of blackberry wine
    5. batch cook some chicken curry and freeze in portions
    6. get a batch of herbal tea bag wine on the go

(6 instead of 5 as I've been bone idle last couple of weekends and really need to crack on with stuff this weekend!)

ETA - realised how much of this involves alcohol - the sloe gin is for presents, honest! And I drink no more than one bottle of HM wine a week!

Today is a fairly good one as I have the time to do lots of things :)

    1. Peeling 2 kg of shallots to make spicy pickled onions to give as Christmas presents.

    2. Shredding the rind of 12 lemons and 12 limes to make marmalade tomorrow for the same Christmas gifts as above.

    3. Packing 8 portions of HM spicy lentil soup and 8 portions of moroccan chickpea soup into the freezer for my work lunch.

    4. Reading some recipe books while things are simmering for inspiration of what to cook tomorrow.

    5. Going to my friends house tonight where we will have curry then HM apple cake made by her :)

I am also planning on having an empty laundry basket by this evening so I can spend tomorrow baking

    2. A nice big bag of lamb bones from the butcher this morning to roast for Scotch broth.
    3. Settling down for a quiet afternoon in the armchair with a nice THICK book called "Austerity Britain" recommended by somebody on the Inspirational Books Thread. (Another freebie borrowed from the library, (But when I think how much Council Tax we pay, it would probably have worked out cheaper to buy it than borrow it :rotfl:
    4. The heating is switched off because it's quite mild today.
    5. And our Icesave compensation was activated yesterday.
  • 1. Going around the continental market trying little pieces of the hams and salame on offer.
    2. Getting the kitchen nice and clean and feeling accomplished with it.
    3. Sitting down to do my meal plan for December.
    4. Feeling on-track to spend less than my goal in the grocery challenge.
    5. Spending some quality time with my other half tonight.
Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!
