  • Can certainly second that one, Primrose. Hubbie and I sat in bed today from 7.30 till nearly nine. Chatting, drinking coffee and watching the rain absolutely tipping down. Why? Because, thanks to early retirement, we can.

  • This lovely thread seemed to be sliding into oblivion. Is that because in November it is hard to find five pleasures in a day or are the same ones coming round again and becoming common place?

Well, I have found some new ones, here they are.

    1. Buying 18 eggs for the price of six.

    2. Contemplating what to make with my egg glut, so far I've come up with:- a) Making lemon curd to flavour my home made yogurt. b) Making chocolate roulade to freeze away for a nice pud during the festive season. c) fairy cakes for the freezer. d) frittatta for tea tonight. Better stop thinking or I shall soon need another 18 eggs:rotfl:

    3. Getting on the bus with my free bus pass (just another benefit of being an original truly OLD Oldstyler. I so enjoyed the run through fields, seeing sheep and cows and the lovely autumn colours still on the trees - such a treat for a city girl.

    4. Buying a load of whoopsied meat half price in Mr. A's.

    5. Having a well stocked freezer and pantry thanks to careful planning and shopping around.

Not sure if I can think of 5 but here goes -

    1. I've been ill for a few days, so I suppose my main pleasure is to feel well again!
    2. My new windows are being fitted so 'goodbye draughts' :j

    3. Checking cupboards and knowing that I won't need to shop for a few days

    4. After getting rid of a shrub from in front of my living room window, being able to watch the birds at the birdbath and berry bushes

    5. When I woke this morning I was thinking how lucky I am to have a dry, warm, comfortable place to sleep - one of the basic human needs that so many in this world don't have
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    1. Flicking through various veggie seed catalogues which have arrived recently and realising I already have enough seeds to stock the country in vegetables for the next year!
    2. Homecooked meal from the freezer tonight. However much stuff we use up, it still seems to remain as full as ever.
    3. Still using the beetroot leaves I picked last week as a spinach substitute (they store well if given the occasional soak in cold water and stored in a polythene bag in the fridge). Have had 5 free meals out of these.

    Good evening all!

Just back from my family visit in Italy (Very tiring! Lots of train and ship travels as I do not fly!) and back here to register my pleasures:

1 - Being back in London where I truly belong!

2 - Seeing my husband and children again, I missed them desperately!

3 - Anticipating the pleasure of eating brown rice and tofu again after all that pasta!

4 - Anticipating the incredible pleasure of sleeping again in my bed!

5 - Having access to a PC again (goodness knows I revealed myself for the addict I am while for 5 days in Sardinia I did not find a single internet cafe!).

Love to all, it is good to be back!

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Welcome home, Caterina.

  • 1. Seeing my GP and finding out that my kidney function blood test was fine.

    2. Having a nice breakfast afterwards with OH, in the High Street Cafe.

    3. Going to the hairdressers and having my long hair lopped off.

    4. Coming home and kicking off my trainers, having a cuppa and a jam tart.

    5. Eagerly anticipating our lamb shank, veg and mash supper. Yum!

  • 5 things I love about being os

1 Menu planning for the week and shopping for it
    2 Saving £2 coins
3 crocheting blankets for the family to help keep them warm
4 discovering that I enjoy baking again
5 turning down the temp, not using the tumble drier and switching off unused lights etc

It is satisfying trying to do my bit for the environment and my pocket.
