1 - Planting the last of the broccoli plug plants (where a few of the earlier ones had been eaten by slugs)

2 - Everytime I look at my grown up children I feel a shot of love so strong that I get tears in my eyes with pride and tenderness

3 - 3 little red roses flowered on the plant that my parents gave me for my 40th birthday (I am 51 now!) - I hope the cold does not damage them!

4 - Going to my knitting group and meeting a lot of new knitters

5 - Eating the delicious veg soup that my DH made while I mucked about on the computer (hehe so what's new!)

    Good night all

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Been a teeny weeny bit busy over the past few days so I'll just pick out the best five pleasures during that time.

    1. Walking to the library in lovely sunshine and getting 2 books and an audio book - all for free.

    2. Making bonfire toffee for the DGChildren.

    3. Going for a walk across fields with DH.

    4. Enjoying fireworks and bonfire night type 'eats' with DGCh - in the rain.

    5. The yellow stickered shoulder of lamb reduced by £2 which made 4 good meals today and leaves enough to make shepherd's pie to feed 3 adults and 2 children tomorrow.

  • Hi everyone
    Today is all about
    1. Making limoncello for the Christmas hampers with lemons from my lovely neighbours and hm vodka.
    2. Choosing lino and paint for the new bathroom and walk in pantry. Not very OS, but a lot of fun.
3.Making a batch of lemon cordial with the leftover lemons.
    4. Misty rain here today, so will try and find a quiet spot inside and read new book.
5.Receiving a wedding invitation from a young lass I have watched grow from a difficult, incredibly shy teenager into poised and confident young woman.

    Hi all

My last chance to post my five before I go away, but I think I shall take a booklet and pen with me and write them for myself everyday I am away - and who knows, I might even pop in from an internet cafe in Italy!

    Here goes;

1 - Making 4 fabric "carrier bag bags" (the ones with a drawstring at the top and the bottom, that you fill with plastic carrier bags and pull them from the bottom to reuse) to give to the women in my family in Italy

2 - Dyeing my white (boring) Aldi thermals using onion skins, the top with yellow onion skin (came a bright orange) and the long johns with red onion skins (came pale yellow-green). They are very nice now!

3 - Pressure cooking three old decrepit oranges from an organic bag of weeks ago, rather than throw them away - I hope that the water will soften them and I shall turn them into a mini-jam once they are rehydrated and cooked.

4 - Planning dinner around split pea soup which I had already cooked and have now taken out of the freezer

5 - Eating rice cakes with a wonderful HM blackberry and apple jam that my friend made and gave me a jar.

    Love to all

Caterina - have a lovely holiday.

My five pleasures are for today and yesterday.

    1. Making yogurt from Mr. S. basics dried milk.

    2. Lovely cuddles again from DGCh after they had eaten my shepherds pie s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d from Sunday's lamb joint.

    3. Shopping trip with DD - her call because she values my advice. :D

    4. Flavouring yogurt with Mr. S basics oranges and some brown sugar - yum.

    5. Making steak and kidney casserole in slow cooker for tea tonight and having two more meals for us, to go in the freezer. Not sure how OS this really is as my mum had neither slow cooker or freezer but I'll tell you what her fire oven made lovely stews.

    Bella.
