1.Just arrived back home from a home cheese makers course, I can now proudly say that I can make mozzarella, cheddar, feta, ricotta, marscapone and haloumi.
    2. Appreciating Dh who drove me halfway across the island and then waited around for two days in a strange town while I was enjoying myself.
    3. The spectacular scenery of our country, in just a couple of hundred kilometers we passed through tundra, lakes, mountains, forest and rich farmlands.
    4. Coming back to my home and being greeted with great joy by all the animals.
5.Waking up to a beautiful spring day.

    my pleasures today were:

    1) watching my kids scoff all their 'free' halloween sweets
    2) having both my parents come over to visit today (seperately lol) and having a lovely natter with both of them
    3) making dinner with half a bag of rice and a 9p curry sauce i found lurking at the back of the cupboard and some chicken breasts from the freezer, which the kids announced was 'wicked' lol
    4) cooking up some extra food today so as not to have to cook tomorrow:)
    5) checking my savings accounts and recording 'interest earned' in my daily money log:D

    My five for today :

    1. filling the first of my raised beds and planting a gooseberry bush and a blackcurrant bush in it

    2. getting a fair bit of the compost for the above from my compost bin, which is going great guns since I changed its position

    3. cooking a chicken and stripping the carcass - enough on there for 3 meals for us :)

    4. making the cat very happy by giving her the skin off the aforementioned chicken!

    5. sitting here surfing with a glass of homemade strawberry wine
  • ist pleasure not os but I logged on to quidco and found that they had paid me the £70 from the car insurance I bought in June at last. So that put me in a good mood for the day.
Donating a load of empty jars to someone from freecycle. I made a lot of jam this year and cant get out of the habit of saving jars now. Anyway she was making preserves for a fete and was very happy to take a couple of jars of my jam as well.
Made a loaf and homemade chicken pie.
manged to get one load of washing dry before it rained.
Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

A big smile on my face today, having pulled up all my beetroot plants yesterday for storage, ending up with armfuls of lush green leaves. I've just discovered that they cook beautifully just like spinach and don't taste at all like beetroot, so I've now got enough of them to feed us, in various recipes, for the rest of the week. Am chuffed at discovering this extra source of green leaves from my veggie patch which previously I used to toss onto the compost heap.

Haven't been keeping up with this thread -very remiss of me but it's lovely to see so many people enjoying those little pleasures in the OS life.

    1) A 'lie in' with OH :D -it's free after all.

    2) Using up all my halloween pumpkin -eating or otherwise storing in freezer.

    3) Making an inventory of all the food in my house and realising that I don't need to shop until at least Christmas, apart from milk, butter, eggs, cheese, fresh fruit and veg and wine ;)

    4) Really enjoying planning meals from my list.

    5) Delicious lunch of pumpkin pasties (but no cauldron cakes:D )

    3. Filling 3 bags of leaves for leafmould for the garden which I supervised OH sweeping up. ;)
4.5. Making 6 Homemade cards for upcoming birthdays and a christening.
    4. Make several bags of brown breadcrumbs from a free packet of rolls from Lidl for the freezer.
    5. Despatching OH and the girls for the afternoon so I can [strike]sit in front of the fire with a HM scone and HM raspberry jam and browse MSE[/strike] prepare the roast.
