Hi all, here's mine from the last few days:
1. The washing drying out on the line.
2. Seeing family and friends over the weekend.
3. Seeing my plants in the border still alive - day 3 and they're actually looking like they've perked up a bit
4. Inviting mum over for tea
5. Roast ratatouille with a double amount made so I don't have to cook much tonight
6. Mum offering me some kippers from her freezer as she has too many (dad used to eat them).
7. Making a pie for the first time since school!!!!
8. And it turning out ok!
9. Liking my expensive marble rolling pin (it was a present).
10. Eating damson pie (comes a very close second to cherry pie in my view) and I've been waiting for months to see damsons on sale.
11. Mum approving of my pie
12. Making butternut squash soup for lunches.
13. My lunch today being squash soup, with a slice of damson pie
14. Finding out about a family of 4 who get through 30 loo rolls (yes 30!) a week and being thankful we don't get through that many!!
Sorry lots of food ones in there
Does anyone know if you can freeze individual slices of pie?
If so I'll be buying more damsons this weekworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Mine for yesterday:
1. Making gallons of sweetcorn soup and tomato soup and freezing it for lunchboxes
2. Chicken pasta bake made from leftover Sunday Roast
3. Unpicking name labels off my eldest son's old uniform, sewing them onto his new one, and sewing my younger son's name labels onto the old uniform (not much fun to do, but satisfying when finished!)
4. Watching Framed on BBC 1 and grumbling about how all of the actors had South Wales accents despite it being set in a North Wales village ( I am turning into Victor Meldrew)
5. Enjoying bank holiday monday without spending a single penny!0 -

Hi all,
Had to go through stuff quickly today as I was quite busy with everything to do before going away next week, so I did not read everything in depth, apologies if I am missing something, hugs to those of you who need comfort!
Firstyearisthehardest: well done on your A*!
Ollie: I know that not so many OHs are as hands-on in domestic things as my DH, but then again I would not have been able to be with someone who expected a full-blast housewife (the Flylady "shine your sink at 6am" type for example!), it would just not have worked! I don't "make" him do it, he is genuinely interested, for example we have taken the joint decision that, rather than spend £400+ in M&S to get roman blinds (and this is with a 20% discount!) we will attempt to make them ourselves, even if neither of us has ever done anything like this! We will be experimenting on the fabric from the old curtains. If it works, then we can buy better material in a more suitable colour and try to make the "real thing"! It is not me getting him to do things, he really enjoys the challenge! I know I am very fortunate, I am really not boasting, I am seriously grateful.
Anyway, here are a lot more blessings:
From Sunday, the ones I did not put in my old post:
1 - DD found a computer table, in the street, for my office room and carried it home for me, helped by her friends. It is great and it will allow me to make better use of the room for more crafts than office work, using two large tables instead of one.
2 - She also found a small but perfectly functioning CD player, that she also brought home for me. Only two days ago I was telling DS how I really need some music in my bedroom and he said he would ask around and that "something will turn up". Isn't it amazing how the Universe listens to our requests? I am awed with gratitude.
3 - The kids' friends are always so kind and helpful.
Yesterday:
1 - It began as a great morning, just the right morning for a brunch in the garden. So I went to stock up on cheeses, fancy breads, danish pastries and juices in M&S (I know, not OS but it was for a celebration) and we had brunch together with DS and DD and their friends who had crashed out the night before. Great start of the day!
2 - Nice, lazy day, spending time with DH and pottering about the garden.
3 - The weather! On the last day of August, it really treated us well.
4 - Decided to celebrate the last day of August in gratitude for the glorious weather and have a veggie BBQ (apart from DS's chicken breast skewers) in the garden.
5 - Shopping for BBQ with DH, managing to get very good (and very kindly priced) stuff for it.
6 - The BBQ went magnificently well, we all had a great time and we played music and sang till quite late. The kids' friends also loved it.
7 - DS, DD and friends tidied up at the end of the evening, how perfect can it get?
Today:
1 - Nice breakfast of leftover fancy bread and cheese from yesterday's brunch.
2 - The chair of trustees of the charity I work phoned me and asked me to do some website amendments - my favourite job, so I did a couple of hours more than I would have normally done and made up for the two hours that I was short last month.
3 - The wholefoods delivery arrived nice and early and the (ever-present) kids' friends helped by carring all the heavy boxes around.
4 - One of the friends was quite hungry and I was glad to be able to help, I had some leftover rice that he really enjoyed, with a cheese sandwich and some fruit. I have also promised him that when I open the 5kg bag of porridge oats he is going to get some (I doubt we will finish the lot before the end of winter!). Glad to be able to give something back.
5 - Had a lovely massage and my back is now almost completely recovered.
6 - DD and her BF are making homemade pizza.
7 - The Peter Rabbit DVD I ordered from Amazon arrived, I am going to send it to the little girls of my friend in Ireland, who love the stories but never saw the animation. I am sure they will love it!
Good night everybody! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Ollie - I just LOVED your sink unblocking and kettle cleaning story. Sounds like you had a lovely time with Caitlin too.
firstyear - well done for the A* in your Law exam :T:T
Here are my five for today:
1) Met up with two friends at a beach further down the coast.
2) All the boys played very nicely together. The older two spent the whole time in the sea and the younger ones found a big hole and spent most of the time playing in it.
3) Chips and ice cream on the promenade.
4) Talking about the upcoming camp this weekend and hoping that the weather will hold out (gales are forecast ).
5) Picking DH up from work and getting home just as the rain started to bucket down. The washing on the line was soaked but at least the day on the beach was fine.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Sundays blessings:-

3) Watching our cockapoo enjoy herself, not knowing who to greet and be fussed by next.
4) Our bargain priced gazebo stayed up!!!!
5) Waiting for it to get dark so we could watch the £1.50 colour change balls we got from B & Q light up!
Mondays blessings:-
1) Waking up without a hangover!
2) Discovering one of my friends had done all the dishes!
3) Not having to worry about breakfast - plenty of sausages left.
4) Having enough energy left to go look at cars with dh
5) A very quiet and tired cockapoo
Todays blessings:-
1) Lots of leftovers to pop into the freezer
2) Discovering that the little lidded containers that our ice cream came in were perfect for freezing the leftovers
3) My lovely neighbour brought round another large carrier bag of plums! I gave her a jar of plum jam and have promised her some plum chutney.
4) Washing drying so fast on the line today
5) Almost managing a no spend day - but had to pay £7.20 for a prescription! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
Jan grocery challenge £35.77/£1200 -
Firstyearisthehardest - well doen you your results!
1 - homemade steak pie last night, yum!
2 - OH put the pastry on top of my almost ready casserole and put some potatoes and veg on so it was ready for me coming home
3 - bath a a glass of wine
4 - being very good and putting half the wine left over from cooking in ice cube trays for cooking rather than drinking it all!
5 - Oh fixed the front door in our close, the factors were meant to sort it but didn't, grr not sure what we pay them for! Anyway its nice not to have to kick it to open it in the morning and much better for the door!
Good day to all
