Hi all
re. rain: Dear all, I am sorry, I hope I did not sound condemning or censorious, I really did not mean it in that way, but just like trying to look at the positive side of things. Ollie, I really did not mean you who said that, it was someone I was speaking with the other day.
I do believe that it is good to be grateful for water, including rain, but I also sometimes curse it when it gets too much! Perhaps I am more positive now that I am growing stuff and it is my lazy side that rejoices when I do not have to water the garden!
I hope I did not cause distress or offence, it was really not meant that way. I shall conclude this rainy episode with an interesting thought, which I believe comes from the SAS (or some similar military bod):
"There is no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothing"
And now here are my pleasures so far:
1 - This morning breakfast of strawberry yogurt with chopped apple, raisins and seeds, a slice of my banana spelt cake (leftover from yesterday) and a pot of tea.
2 - Hairdresser appointment, cut as regular but colour as model (much much cheaper!). Now I have very short hair and a much pinker fringe!
3 - Lunch with DD, Rice and lentil dal with sauteed radish greens (from the garden) in garlic and chilli. Yummy! Salad of own garden radishes and cherry tomatoes.
4 - Together with DD we restocked all the large glass jars in the kitchen with grains and pulses (that I had bought on wholesale a few days ago) and labelled them all. I also put instructions on the labels, if need soaking or not, how long to cook and what goes well with it, so that DD and DS can use without having to rely on me.
5 - Anticipating today's booked body massage (the last one, alas, but as my back is now so much better I cannot really justify the expense anymore). I shall enjoy it, I know!
6 - Anticipating evening out with DH, going to an Indian restaurant (voucher 2 for 1) and to the cinema to see Inglorious Basterds (for free as we still have one each of the allocated free films from our Picturehouse memberships).
7 - It is Friday, a weekend beckons and then on Monday we are OFF ON HOLIDAYS!
Have a good evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Didn't feel like I did too much today -was meant to be camping but that's been postponed - so I bimbled around doing tidying jobs and just pottered for most of the day. There were still 5 pleasures though:
1) A lie-in this morning.
2) The whole family coming together to do some tidying.
3) DH and I watched 'Man on a wire' from the Sky +
4) In-laws bought us a Chinese takeaway for tea
5) Looking forward to the Big Brother final tonight. I'd like Siavash to win :jDFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hello all, I've been lurking for a while, I've had good things going on but haven't felt the urge......but now I have!
1. Going on holiday tomorrow to PortugalI can't wait, but at the moment, am a bit stressed by (a) our first holiday alone for me and DD (4), (b) will I forget something vital? Must go to bed soon as we're up and out at 4amish.
2. Feeling very happy as next year's holiday to France I booked a couple of months ago is now approx £1,000 more expensive for exactly the same accommodation!! I felt like such a saddo booking up as soon as I saw 2010 was available, but now I'm feeling great
3. DD was given a fabulous rollie suitcase from a lovely freecycler yesterday, so she can now take her own toys/books/colouring stuff
4. Had a great girly night out last week and am hoping for more of the same!
5. Catching up with everyone's posts on here and feeling happy to be part of such a friendly community.
'See' you all in a week xx0 -
Good Morning  - still cold, windy and damp here today
Recent blessings
1. Being Very Grateful Indeed that my heating bills aren't as high as they must be for folk who live oop norf
2. Having lovely friends who are willing to sit with just tee shirts on in the evenings while I huddle by the heater - goodness, they breed hardy stock up here!
3. Wandering round shops on my own yesterday while my friends were at work and absolutely loving the way everyone here calls you loov. I was speaking to people I don't know just to hear them say it. I think I could live among such friendly people (if it wasn't so cold here :rotfl:)
4. While missing my own little furball I'm enjoying the company of the dogs, a Labradoodle (strange creature) and several Miniature Schnauzers, so I still get my doggie 'fix' daily
5. The spring water, so pure and sweet, anything bought in a bottle under that name hasn't a patch on what comes out of the tap here.
Sneaking a 6th in - while I love holidays, and this one in particular has been made very special by my dear friends, I'm going home in a day or two and looking forward to my own little corner of the world.0 -
sparrer - enjoy your stay in chilly Yorkshire - the sun is shining here today!
But just remember - re heating bills - we're made of stern stuff up here! We don't put the heating on early - we put another fleecey jumper on!
I don't intend switching my heating on for another 6 weeks....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Yesterday's pleasures:-
1. Picking loads more beans from the garden and still they come.
2. A baking morning.
3. A craft demo at a shop which had 20% off for the day. Not spending any money in craft shop and wondering if I need hospital treatment for this.
4. Dried two large loads of washing (generated by my two little lodgers) on the line.
5. A cooked meal (tuna rissotto) and a dozen fairy cakes made within an hour of arriving home. My freezer still has gaping holes in it since I had a clear out and now I'm running to stand still trying to fill it up again.

Hi all
Just a quick note to say bye to everybody, I am going away on Monday (and am madly busy now trying to catch up with everything before I go). I won't be back until after 15th September. I am not sure what internet access there will be at the hostel (it says free internet but usually there are queues when this is the case!) so I might not appear on this forum for a while.
HUGS to all and catch up soon
Love
Caterina xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Let's see, here are some of mine:
1. New foster puss arriving this afternoon - can't wait!!:D
2. Feeling generally pretty upbeat about things/life (mainly because I'm moving on with my plans to quit my job next year, go travelling and completely change my life :j)
3. Delicious homemade golden lentil soup for lunch:drool:.
4. Watching the yummy Henry Cavill in "The Tudors" last night, with the anticipation of seeing the equally yummy Simon Baker in "The Guardian" tonight. Drool....:heartsmil
5. A bright sunny morning here today, which meant that I could get on with varnishing the front and back doors ready for winter .
6. Finding that an online course I've been considering doing to help me with my plans has released a pdf version of the info, so I can get it for $30rather than $160 .
7. Finding a new blog that's also helping me with my plans, and a great online community that's also been invaluable :T.
That'll do for now - hugs to everyone and hope you are all well xxLife is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Bon viaggio Caterina. Have a good trip and look forward to seeing you again when you get back.0

And have a lovely holiday to Kittikins, too.
Here are ours for the last couple of days
1) Like Bella, we have still got loads more beans coming. This is an improvement on last year, when we had none. Picked a carrier bag full yesterday, a bag full of potatoes, a red cabbage, two carrots, two onions that I had missed, and half a parsnip. Can't find the other half.
2) Got a dozen eggs from a neighbour at the allotment in return for saving him all our egg boxes. I would have done it anyway
3) Made three more pots of jam and bottled some produce yesterday. Looks good to see the jars lined up on the shelves, doesn't it? I hope it all tastes nice, in the end
4) My SIL (estranged, but not because she wanted to) came yesterday to spend the evening with us. She is one of the few people we knew at school who we still see and we had a lovely time
5) Coffee date with DH this morning at the local coffee shop. They had run out of gluten free bread (to toast) so I had a latte and some raspberry/coconut slab for breakfast!0
