Five OS Pleasures in your day today
Comments
-
1. Finding my trouser waistbands fit more comfortably. I've been doing 20 sit-ups morning and evenings and it does seem to be helping even if the diet isn't.
2. OH currently making chicken stock from carcasses stored in the freezer which were donated free by our friendly butcher.
3. And while these are pressure-cooking, he's experimenting making an Apple Cake from apples we were given. We're doing a Ready Steady Cook operation to try and use up various surplus foodstocks.
4. Another few things taken over to Charity shop. Very slowly the decluttering is starting to happen.0 -

My five for today
1. 6 more jars of homemade jam in the cupboard.
2. DD2s first day at 'big' school went really well.
3. 2 YS cream cakes for 15p.
4. Home grown plums from a client.
5. Cooked a chicken in the slow cooker and it turned out really well.
Reverbe, how are you not a millionnaire by now with all the money you find?0 -
1) Finding out who delivers coal to our local petrol station, ringing them up and getting the fuel I wanted for much less than another firm quoted.
2) Home made baked beans. DH asked for more and some for lunch tomorrow
3) A heart to heart with a couple of colleagues. Much better than what was on the agenda
4) Having a fire this evening. It's drawn us all into the same room
5) DD gave me three jumpers that she never wears - all of them black, so they will go with everything0 -
Evening everybody  - It's been another really miserable, dull day here on Merseyside. Was really glad to get the curtains closed over this evening.
Louba - Well done to your OH for doing the laundry and hanging it out to dry :T! Freezing ice cubes of wine - wtg you - how restrained.
newlywed - some great cookery experiments there - well done you :j. You've just reminded me that I've got two cobs of sweetcorn that need using up TOMORROW - must remember when organising evening meal.
helyg - lol at the unpicking lables from school uniforms - done it many times myself. I even unpicked DS1's and sewed them onto DS2's - just cut the christian name bit off leaving the surname only - well they were the expensive embroidered ones:j!
puss14 - I love the luxury of clean fresh bed-linen - done mine today and can't wait to climb into bed tonight.
firstyearisthehardest - well done you for looking after your niece as well as your own daughter - bet they had a great time and beggar the housework!
Primrose - welcome back home again. Cleaning windows  - it's not spring again already is it? Well done on the exercises and them having an effect
.
Caterina - Good Luck with the Roman Blind making - sounds like an interesting project and :T that it's something you can do together.
Blimus - always have a lovely time with Caitlin- such good company although only 22mths! Good to hear you were able to spend time at the beach - wouldn't like to think what our beaches have been like the past couple of weeks - probably freezing cold!
catznine - sounds like you've had a wonderful weekend of family and celebrations.
tracyi - woman after my own heart - unseen ironing pile doesn't count :j!
Hello suzybloo :hello: - good for you getting to grips with the meters - hope it pays off for you. Not another one cleaning windows  - is there a conspiracy afoot to make me feel lazy?????
Bargain Bunny - Those handblenders are great for all kinds of things - wouldn't be without mine now. Well done on the batch cooking plans.
Reverbe - mmmmmm some lovely treats in thereand well done you on resisting those haribos - I'm sure your friend's daughter will love them.
billy858 - good to hear your dd2 enjoyed her first day at big school- it's a HUGE step for them at that age.
Patchwork - well done for having that chat with your colleagues - hope all is now well at work. Your fireside evening sounds beautiful.
1. Visited DD's house yesterday evening - good to actually see where she's moving to. Funny shaped house as it's on a bend - the rooms are all 'wedge-shaped' :rotfl:- should make for some unusual furniture arrangements lol.
2. dgs1 is going into his old school tomorrow morning to say goodbye to all his friends. Going to be a big adventure for him changing school AND he won't have his big sister around for support.
3. DD and dgk's all stayed for tea this evening - sausages (Extra Special ones whoopsied), mash and baked beans - all wolfed down.
4. Changed bedding today and put the duvet back on the bed - have just been using the cover on top of the bed as a 'summer throw' for a couple of months, but it's getting chillier in the middle of the night. Too wet to dry on the line so it's draped over the bannister to dry and the sheet is over the airer.
5. Cotton sofa throws were washed a couple of days ago and now dry, so the fleecey blankets are next on the agenda - need to get them ready for the colder evenings on the sofas.
That's me done for this evening - I'll check in again tomorrow morning to say Hi! - nitey nite and sleep tight all - love Ollie xxx0 -
I'm here at last after having got seriously behind with this thread. It has taken me ages to catch up but now that the school holidays are almost over and I won't be having any more little visitors, I MAY return to NORMAL - whatever that is.
Yesterdays pleasures:-
1. Reclaiming the spare room and having a bit of a sort out at the same time. Love having a sort out, now there's just all the other rooms to do.
2. Lunch of Aldi super six salad which came just at the right time, while I wait for my salad leaves to catch up again after our hols.
3. Also on salad , Turkey leg meat, from a drumstick which was cooked at the same time as the Sunday beef.
4. Said beef provided cottage pie for dinner last night. That's 10 portions all together, from a piece of beef costing just over £5 (half price offer) not bad.
5. Spent two hours just doing nothing last night while watching iPlayer. This is very unusual for me - think I was played out.
