Back from hols.
1. Drying loads of washing on the line even though it was cloudy and looked like rain.
2. Not very MSE but had a lovely meal out because we have not had so much as a cup of coffee out whilst away with DD and family due to DGS suspected pea-nut allergy.
3. Sowing lots of seeds for saladings through the autumn,
4. Lots of beans grown in our absence.
5. Putting some seed peas to soak for sprouting to help cope with the salad dearth until the new stuff gets going.

Well so much for me intending to post last night before going to bed. Managed to watch Big Brother and then dozed off
.
Sorry to read that some of our posters have had a rough week ((((Special Hugs)))) to them and everybody else who needs one.
My blessings for this week:
1. Had a lovely time with mum chatting over old-times.
2. Managed to do some alterations to our 'family tree' that a cousin has been researching and asked me to check over. He's tracked us back to Ireland 1830 (Caterina please give a wave in the direction of Termon!!!!in for me ).
3. Have really enjoyed cooking in my sister's gorgeous new kitchen (I am so jealous!) though I couldn't find anything for the first couple of days.
4. Not very OS - but had a couple of trips to the Bingo to keep mum company. I'm sure the Good Lord stopped me from winning anything to prevent me from becoming a Bingo Addict :rotfl:!
5. Did a couple of shifts in the local charity shop with mum and found some bargains on the book shelves. Got one called 'Help I'm Turning Into My Mum!' which I'll pass on to DD when I've finished it.
6. DS2 came for me yesterday and brought dgs2 and dgs3 with him. Mum had never seen the youngest and she was delighted when he crawled to her and then stood up using her leg to get himself upright! He just needs another ounce of bravery to leave go and he'll be walking properly .
7. A visit to Wilkos while I was away for 50% off Night Garden toys - that's dgd2 sorted for Christmas. Going to check our Wilkos this morning to see if they've got anything different in there.
8. About to go and visit DD for a short while and then take dgs1 out shopping with me - to give her a break from him .
speak again later - love Ollie xxx0 -
Hi Ollie, bet your mum was so chuffed at DGS3, love the sound of your book, think I should read that too.....although I know I'm turning into my mum, and actually, it's not as much of a nightmare as I would have imagined it when I was a teenager!!
Hope things are on the up for DD - has she been able to sort out the housing nightmare?0 -
1. church this morning and the hymns were nice
2. fish pie for supper in about an hour
3. tomatoes ripening on the outdoor plants
4. the cat playing charge-round-and-jump-on-the-furniture
5. the last of our hay baled and carted into the shed
YIPPEE"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
Hooray, the sun came out
1. DD and I, whilst being tired as she had earache during the night so neither of us got much sleep, still had a great day today
2. Having a big lie-in with her, watching a DVD and having lots of cuddles
3. Buying the gin and vodka I need in order to be able to make blackberry/sloe booze - and offsetting a bit of the cost with money off vouchersNow just need to pick enough berries to do it, otherwise I'll have a lot of cheap booze littering up the house!!!
4. Being told we can volunteer for cat cuddling at a local sanctuary, will be fun and also a cheaper way of getting the good stuff rather than taking one or more home with us...
5. Losing another lb this morning.0 -
My goodness, where did the weekend go? Hope everyone is well. Welcome back after your hols Bella and Ollie.
My five for yesterday and today - nice and simple.
1. Crisp cotton bedding for ds and dd - lovely.
2. Hm steak pie and hm sultana buns - yum
3. Doing a Reverbe - 2p :T
4. Standing enjoying the cool breeze blowing in the Kitchen window - Autumn's on the way.
5. Enjoying Kirstie's Homemade Home on tv.
A last one for me - over the last ten years I have come to realise I have a few toxic relationships in my life - takers who use and emotionally manipulate me. My final pleasure is that at 44, I finally have the courage to distance these people in my life. Life is too short to invest in relationships that leave you emotionally battered and depressed.
Here's to a good week. Night all xxx0 -
Hugs to all those in need.
Here's mine for the last few days:
1. Going to wembley stadium (for U2) prepared with packed lunch style tea for the 4 of us and being relieved I was prepared after finding out cheeseburger and chips were nearly £8!! So only spent money on a drink each(but they still cost £2.50 each!!)
2. Going to a bbq and taking hm coleslaw, potato salad and veg sticks for dips and it all being stuff I already had in the fridge
3. Coming home from bbq with leftover potato salad, coleslaw, rolls, and chicken kebab for my lunch tomorrow.
4. Being given rhubarb, blackberries and cherries
5. An unexpected visitor bringing us a bottle of wine
6. There being 10 days to payday and there's money on the electric meter, a fridge full of food, a packed freezer and still having £10 in my purse - strange for me
7. The step kids being away for a few days with their mum so I get a few rare evenings with just me and OH (we only get 1 evening a week where we don't see them).
8. Ratatouille from a waitrose recipe (only needed to buy tomatoes) and it being very tasty.
All in all, a good weekend
but I did forget to pick up my reserved library books so that will now cost me £1.50 and have to pay again to re-reserve them :rolleyes:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Good evening all
:rotfl: at the censorship police! 'T-e-r-m-o-n-f-e-c-k-i-n' is a real place! My ancestors came from there and relatives still live there.
bella - welcome back home again.
Kittikins - thanks for asking about DD. Looks like something has come up for rent (and within housing benefit budget) so we're crossing our fingers. Still waiting to hear positive news about the house being sold. Hope you DD's earache gets better soon - had lots of those with my DD when small - she had 'glue ear' and loads of infections.
zarazara - sounds like a lovely way to spend a summer sunday.
thriftyscotslass - :T on recognising the toxic relationship(s) in your life and being able to do something about them - here's to an emotionally healthy future :j!
newlywed - what a very full couple of days- and wtg on the barbecue goodies
. Good on you for making a stand against those rip-off food sellers at Wembley :T.
1. Caught up with e-mails this morning. One from Hotter Shoes as they have a sale on at the moment. There's a pair there that have DEFINITELY got my name on them and a brilliant reduction as well. Looks like they'll be heading this way.
2. Visited DD this afternoon to collect dgs1 to take with me - DD needed a break from him . He was actually a real darling today and very helpful - so handy to have a 'little person' to get things from the bottom shelves for you - especially when those things are right at the back of the bottom shelf.
3. Word of warning about sandwiches in supermarket cafes. I bought one for Nathan and opened it to spread mayo on it for him - they always have dry bread sandwiches! The ham was mostly a strange 'shiney green colour' but within use-by date. Took it back to the service counter and had an immediate replacement PLUS they removed the remaining sandwiches from the children's snack box area. I'm so glad I opened it _pale_!
4. Managed to do the majority of my monthly shop and found quite a few whoopsies for the freezer - loads of bread from the bakery counters, Wiltshire Ham, lamb mince, turkey mince, lambs liver, 2kgs carrots, loose nectarines rollbacked to 20p each (instead of 4 for £1 pre-packed).
5. As Nathan had been so good for me, I bought him a watch for £3 - which I thought was a bargain and he was delighted with.
6. An hour after I got home had a phone call from DD - Nathan had opened the fridge, removed three eggs out of the box that I'd just bought for her, took them outside and smashed them on the floor - because he thought 'it would be fun'! Just can't fathom out the workings of his mind! He had been so good all day, then goes and does something like that! Needless to say, he's had his watch taken off him now!
7. Lovely evening meal of salad (our own leaf salad) with turkey steaks while we watched tonight's athletics.
Oh well, lets see what tomorrow brings ............. nitey nite all, love Ollie xxx0 -
Oooh, today:
1) I saw my mummy, Nanny and my beloved stepdad.
2) They were the reinforcements for cleaning my new cottage!
3) My mam brought me some free paint (Swedish blue) which turned out to be the perfect colour for the chimney breast in my new kitchen against the black of the slate of the fire.
4) My new house is looking better and better and my uncle has agreed to redo the damproofing and plastering in my front room.
5) I've spotted some blackberries to forage in Pesda... Woot.
I hope everyone else is doing as well as they can and that everyone has a good day tomorrow.
