Lordy, lordy, a very difficult day yesterday so wasn't able to post. In retrospect, here are my 5 for yesterday:

    1. Made bread with DS and it turns out he has all these memories of things we used to do together when he was little, random things like the fact I only used to knead bread with one hand in case the phone rang
    2. Cried my head off on H2B who, once again, demonstrated that his kindness and love knows no bounds
    3. Went for a run in the evening. Last friday when we got back from the hospital where it had been confirmed that we'd lost the babies I drunkenly signed us up for a 10 mile run on 26th Sept. We're not particularly fit, this will be quite a challenge!

Hmmm. 3 may be all I can manage for yesterday, as I said, it was a very difficult day.

Will update on today later on this evening, feel much much better already :j

    And another one:

    7. Finding a £20 note in my purse that I didn't know was there :j :j

Hi all, courgette hope you are okay. The run is probably a good thing - take your mind off things. Plus being in good condition is always a bonus when you're TTC.

    My 5 pleasures:

    1) Taking DS over to my grandparent's house - he loves his great nana and grandad! Plus they live next door to a dog!!!
    2) Nana giving us some of her home grown beans and tomatoes
    3) Tons of yellow stickers in Asda!
    4) Home Bargains!!!! 19p chinese sauces!
    5) Having a lazy day, food in the slow cooker, cleaning can wait until tomorrow and I refuse to worry about work - bliss!!!
    Taking baby-steps

    Hi all,

Courgette, I hope today feels a little better (((((((HUGS)))))))

Scrummymummy, I am sorry to hear about your friend's DH, so sad, and I hope and pray that your brother will be safe. One day, no more wars (God willing!).

Mineallmine, glad you are liking the book, it gets better and better!

Thriftyscotslass, we are already a sisterhood and we have a "secret" sign, it is a safety pin on our lapel! Much better than a funny handshake methinks, no?

Ollie, here is how my aromatheraphy massage went: Entered nice, clean, posh-looking salon, was directed to treatment rooms downstairs - a different world, like having walked into a mini-dungeon. Smells of acetone and chemical nail varnishes instead of aromatheraphy oils, no windows, really cramped. Never mind, the very pleasant therapist came and introduced herself and guided me into the minuscule room where I was having the treatment.

I am sure she is not a qualified aromatherapist but a beautician trained to give massage, but never mind. I asked her to see what products was going to be used on my body as I do not like to have any parabens and nasty chemicals, and I could not see any proper essential oils and base oils, only commercial products. In fact, she gave me the choice between two commercial products, Elemis and Decleor, but there was no list of ingredients on Elemis, so I chose Decleor, as the ingredient list was short and I could not spot any horror there.

She asked me to prepare and to lie on the bed tummy up, so I undressed and relaxed on the little massage couch. She started massaging one of my legs but did not bother covering my top and tummy with a towel so I had to ask. The smell of the stuff was quite strong but I did not pay much attention during the massage because the massage itself was ok and quite relaxing. It was only towards the end that it sank in that I had been massaged with something containing BASIL OIL - how did I miss THAT on the list of ingredients?

You know, in my country we put basil oil on pizza, not on people! I came out of that place smelling like a slice of pizza! Rushed home, chucked my clothes in the washing basket and went into the shower, where it took me 3 times and 3 different (non-scented) shower gel washes to remove the worst of the food smell off me!

Not too unpleasant an experience, all considered, except for the smell - serves me right for not checking products and therapist qualification in advance of booking. Lesson learnt! Bet you wished you hadn't asked LOL

Now for my pleasures for yesterday and today:

    Wednesday:

1 - My birthday! I am now officially 52 years old

2 - 6:30am up and out, long fav walk in the park

3 - Scrumptious breakfast of cheesy scrambled eggs and green chilli on toast, together with DD (homemade, at home, on my return).

4 - All the lovely birthday wishes I have received from friends and family, loads of texts and phone calls, and one card (so far, I am sure I shall get more on my party day which is Saturday)

5 - A friend invited me to go to the cinema to see Coco Avant Chanel (with her Orange Wednesday offer - love it when my friends are frugal!)

6 - Ice cream at the cinema

7 - BIRTHDAY TREAT: Dinner out at the Vietnamese restaurant with DD and DS, lovely food, great time had by all.

8 - Speaking with DH on the mobile before falling asleep.

    Today:

    1 - Good aerobic workout

2 - Meeting friend at the supermarket and having a cool drink together and a chat

3 - The above friend's son, who has been very ill with depression, showing some improvement. I love this boy dearly, I have known him for many years, since him and my two were tiny.

4 - Rubber salad for lunch! Started it for 4 people (me, DD DS and a friend) then DS's friends started appearing one at a time until there were 8 or 9 of us, in the end to stretch it I was chucking everything into the salad, leftover sweetcorn, apples, carrots, loads of rocket and landcress from the garden, mozzarella, masses of lettuce - it fed everybody and we all loved it!

5 - One of DS's friends told me that because I am always so lovely to him and always feed him, he did a shopping and is going to cook us mushroom risotto tonight, how sweet!

Sorry for over-long post! Have a great evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Much better day today. Here's my 5:
    1. Done two loads of washing (and am about to bring it in before it chucks it down!)
    2. Cycled into town with DS = more exercise
    3. Went to the market and bought loads of scrummy fruit and veg really cheaply
    4. Had a good clean out of the fridge and spent ages salvaging the half of the grapes that weren't mouldy, rather than chuck the lot away
    5. The photographer (also a friend) for our wedding is coming over soon to talk photos (funnily enough )
    6. Went through the bunch of flowers I bought last week, got rid of the dead flowers and now it looks like I have a new bunch of flowers in the living room
    7. H2B has a day off work tomorrow :j:j
Like I said, a much better day xxx

  • Caterina - Happy Birthday to you :bdaycake: Right a safety pin on the lapel it is :rotfl:

Lamewolf - Sorry to hear about your fall

Courgette - Glad today has been a better day for you.

Hugs and thoughts go out to all.

    1. Spending some time with dh at the opening night of an art exhibition - lovely art, free and a complimentary glass of white wine :D

    2. Doing some decluttering with ds (dd escaped my clutches by going out for the afternoon with her friend - I have my eye on her for her next day off tho' :rotfl:)

    3. Being very proud of ds - he coped with the decluttering so well. When I think of the time it has taken us to sort through everything during past declutters and we have maybe filled a carrier bag - we went through half his stuff at top speed and filled 3 bin bags - now that is a first :T

    4. A simple tea tonight - eggs, oven chips & beans - yummy

    5. A nice mild evening here - the sky is a lovely mixture of blues and lilacs at the moment,

    Take care all xxx
  • A very happy birthday to you, Caterina! I hope it lasts all week!

    1) Second visit to a friend to help her declutter. It's a difficult task, because everything we have means something, but we are making good progress
    2) Cleaned the house from top to bottom for the first time since we got back from holiday. Crispy sheets and all!
    3) Picked some blackberries on the school field. The jam I made with them is not brilliant but it was just so theraputic being there in the cool of the evening with my feet in the grass and children playing nearby
    4) Ordered some mascara from a freebie notice here on MSE. I did buy some mascara recently with my Boots points but I made the mistake of buying "Clubbing" mascara. Dear me! It was really gloopy. Fortunately, DD has taken it over but I didn't want to pay for any more. Good old MSE

That's it for now. A hug for those in need and I hope everyone sleeps well
