    My 5 for today:

    1. Made a mortgage overpayment of £200
    2. Took H2B to running shop to get him some trainers. Not very OS in itself but I look forward to lots of runs together
    3. Cycled into town rather than catch the bus even though it was raining. Saved a fiver in bus fares and cycling into warm rain was unexpectedly fun!
    4. Morning sickness has finally gone, a huge relief as this was causing me a lot of upset
    5. Painted a feature wall in the bathroom

This thread is doing wonders for my frame of mind especially since I have to plan what I'll post throughout the day so really gets me counting my blessings

  • Another day, another dreamfeed, another 8 hours continuous sleep, i'm getting quite giddy ;)

    My pleasures today were
    1. A decent nights sleep
    2. Free syrup in my coffee at Starbucks thanks to my loyalty card
    3. Leftovers for lunch
    4. Two boxes of whoopsied cereal, Two whoopsied quiches and Two free blocks of cheddar today at Sainsbugs thanks to them overcharging me and then accidentally refunding too much.
    5. Another trip to the park, another flask of tea, another magazine...bliss :D
    Sleep well all
    xxx

Hey Courgette, I decided to become a MFW today! I'm giving myself 11 years to try and pay it back...hmm...

    Anyway, mine for today:
    1. Got up early and took DD to nursery so I could have a swim before work whilst the pool was child-free. Not that I don't love children, but when you're trying to do some lengths, it can be rather frustrating...
    2. Made my first every mortgage overpayment :)
    3. Went out for a lovely walk again with friends
    4. Drinks with my team at work
    5. Getting up to date with the ironing and washing, sad but true, but it felt good (shhh, don't tell anyone)

Anyway, I'd better get an early night for once. Night all.

  • Hi everyone

Sorry for not posting lately - probs connecting and remaining connected to t'internet

A big hello to all newbies and especially to Courgette, people are so supportive on this thread, it is a high point of my day reading everyone's posts.

    Caterina
    - a sisterhood - I like that, I like the idea of belonging to a sisterhood or a fellowship or something like that. We'll need something by which we can identify each other when we pass in the street and then we'll have to have a secret handshake :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My 5 for the last few days:

    1. More decorating for me - I've primed, filled, sanded, primed and glossed the bannister and handrail in the hallway. The os part will have to be the fact that it is me doing it and not paying a decorator :T

    2. Managing to keep up with the washing and ironing in spite of the weather.

    3. The family loving os hm meals - I can't believe we lived on ready meals and processed foods for so many years  Can you believe the current favourite is simple good quality pork sausages (veggie for ds) and mash - they lurve it :D

    4. Walking with dd to the bus stop for the last couple of mornings to see her off to her summer job. She has been so pleased that I have been with her - I have to give her a kiss before the bus pulls up tho' :rotfl:

    5. Ds speaking to two old friends on Skype :T - he is so isolated and so different from my dd. The fact that he initiated the contact is both wow and :D.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone. Take care xxx
  • 1) Managing to clear another bit of the garden. I'm trying to do a little bit every day this week. Planted some bits and bobs which survived the move from our last house
    2) Went for a walk with a friend and took the scenic way round to the local pub. Got our coffees for less than the coffee shop in town and two chocolates each too. We shall go again.
    3) Tried to show DD's best friend how to make jam. She asked me, as they have a plum tree in their garden. Gave her the recipe with strict instructions to make it under her Mum's supervision.
    4) Made a rhubarb cake by adapting another recipe and it came out well
    5) Spoke to my Uncle today for the first time in years. I found a book called Our Family History, which I am trying to fill in. Unfortunately, he's the last one left on that side so we had a nice chat and are going to exchange emails.

Oh more posts about food! Thrifty you've really put me in the mood for sausages and mash for tea :)
Kittikins good luck on your MF journey, I've just started overpaying mine too - it's strangely satisfying!

    For yesterday:
1 - free expensive conditioner with a magazine
2 - reading my magazine curled up on the couch
3 - Finally got round to turning up the cuffs on my suit jacket, the tailor wanted nearly £40 to do as they were going to shorten them from the shoulder:eek: I've turned them under and used hem stitch - I'm quite please as you would having to be looking pretty closely to notice. I'm quite small and I hate looking like I'm wearing someone elses too big clothes!
4 - very tasty home made curry for tea
5 - sleeping right through the night, quite rare at the moment although I'm not sure why. I'm a much nicer person in the morning when I've had a good sleep :o

    Good morning all :hello:

sparrer - well done on your weightloss and NSD :) and hope you managed to find your 'other' moc ;).
bella - sorry to hear that the weather isn't too good for you - but at least it makes no difference when you're swimming ;).
billy858 - and you're another with the freebie teabags :) - hope your DD's are both recovering now - ((((hugs))))
Louba - :T on your scone baking session. Sorry to hear about your OH's dog - same with our 14yr old cat a couple of months ago, so know exactly how you feel. Not much consolation right now, but things DO get a bit easier as the weeks pass.
Primrose - at the bluetits - very entertaining little birds. And congrats on the PB win.
Caterina - what a wonderful relationship you and your OH have  - so good to hear of in this day and age :). Hope your aromatherapy session went well.
newlywed - good to hear that you're feeling somewhat better at the moment . :T on your blackberry find - but shhhh don't tell anybody where they are ;).
shopndrop - ((((flowers.gif)))) for you - hope you enjoy your shopping for DS's flat ;).
Courgette - Well done on your mortgage overpayment :j - that's fantastic! Glad to hear that this thread is proving to be so positive for you :).
scrummymummy - wtg on the dreamfeeding lol! Great whoopsies too :j.
Kittikins - good luck on your MFW news . You're so right about being able to 'swim' properly in a child-free pool!
thriftyscotslass - well done on the diy :T.
PatchworkQuilt - love the sound of your rhubarb cake - do you have a recipe please? I have the same 'Our Family History' book and have been filling it in to pass on to my own kids. It has meant digging deep into my memory for information on my 'outlaws' as I haven't spoken to my ex-OH for years. Maybe they'll will have to continue that part for themselves.
puss14 - :T well done on the bread-making and the banana loaf. Glad you got to the laundry before the rain did :rotfl:. Gets to be a bit of competition between us and the weather, doesn't it lol.
Louba - I was shown how to hem sleeves by doing it from the bottom of the sleeve. Unpick the lining, trim the sleeve and turn up to required length and pin in place. Trim the lining a little (careful not too much) and then bring back down into place on top of the sleeve, turning it under and pinning into place on top of the sleeve part (making sure that there is about an inch or inch and a half of sleeve turned under). Blind hem the two back together. You do have to be very careful not to twist the lining fabric when pinning back into place or you can't get your arm into the sleeve afterwards. Sounds very long-winded BUT it's easier once you get doing it :).

Not much OS here yesterday - as another busy day.

    1. Tenants all very well-behaved yesterday - bit subdued following the news about the lady's son dying.
    2. Visit from DD with dgs1 and dgd2 while she went for her scan. OH took dgs out for a couple of hours to get him out of my way - to be really honest I was glad to be rid of the two of them :rotfl:.
    3. Chicken and chips for tea in the evening - used up the last of the chicken from Sunday lunch.
    4. Tore the place apart looking for the TV remote and a bunch of keys that have both gone missing in the last couple of days  - I've a feeling it's something to do with Katie (dgd2 - 20mths). DD suggested we should check the outside bin, but they aren't in there - phew!
    5. DD got back from her scan and looked more relaxed - but obviously will have to wait for proper results to go to her GP.
    6. DD has asked me to go and view the house with her this evening - think it's just for moral support - but we'll have to take the youngest two with us - hmmm.

Hope we all have a good OS day and that the weather is kind to us all - love Ollie xxx

First of all it is always a blessing to read your encouraging and supportive messages Olliebeak.
My five for today (although with the bad morning I had I wasn't sure I would have any today!)
    1. Lovely sunny day - always cheers me up.
    2. Both DD1 & 2 improving even after DD1's setback this morning.
    3. Home grown lettuce with tea this evening.
    4. Calming walk with the dog.
    5. Loads of butterflies suddenly appearing in my garden. Must be the time of year.
Have a nice evening everyone. I've got to do my ironing now but will feel much better when it's done. (possibly another blessing).
