Ooops - here I am posting again from afar, well Devon actually.

shopndrop and Kiwi thanks for your comments you're inspirational, now I can pig out with a clear conscience, but I must try to keep one eye on how hard it will be to get it all off again when I get home.

Five year's ago when DH hit 60 he started to draw a pension from a previous job so we were better off than we had been for a long time. He booked a holiday at the place where we are now and said "this is the holiday of a lifetime and it won't happen again". Five years later we are still coming.

It is under threat now that he has finally retired as it is expensive, especially coming as we do with our DD and family (in separate accommodation) in August - high season.

So that's the none OS part of my holiday explained.

Now for my holidays OS pleasures.

    1. I have every facility to cook and freeze that I could wish for.

    2. I brought a half price leg of lamb (frozen) with me.

    3. While the lamb was cooking for a family meal yesterday I popped a bacon joint wrapped in foil in the oven and now have several packets of ready cooked meat in the freezer.

    4. I brought 4 hm ready meals with me (frozen)

    5. We have free wi-fi internet access so I can come on here at will.

    6. There is a heated swimming pool so we swim for free.

    7. There are plenty of NT properties to visit in the area and we are members and now get that cheaper at pensioner's rate.

    8. The beach is only two minutes away - no petrol.

    9. There is another lovely beach not far away where the car park is NT owned see 7

    10. O yes, and I bought Mars bar ice creams (my fave) reduced in the supermarket and have them in the freezer. Smaller than buying out (good for the diet) and cheaper (good for the purse).

That's all folks, you know it all now. I'm off now to enjoy my holiday - see you again sometime.

    Bella.

    1. The sun shining on sunday so all the towels washed and dried
    2. YS cinnamon cakes from sainsbugs - 35p for two (the rest of the reduced shelf looked like locusts had been there an hour before closing at sainsbugs).
    3. Boneless chicken thighs filled with stuffing and wrapped in bacon - an idea from one of the many threads on OS - and tasted good :)
    4. The fridge being full of veg ready for OH's healthy eating starting this week - no pasta, potatoes, bread etc for him - meaning that I will lose weight too ;)
    5. A trip to the library to be told a book I reserved was in already as they found it on the shelves - I have a pile of books at home to read for free now (think I have 5 from the library) and a few more on the reserved list :D

Saving for oz - could you please let me know how to make soya yoghurt?

Hi Kittikins - I use the Lakeland yoghurt maker, and use say 4-6 tablespoons of Alpro live natural soya yoghurt as a culture, at room temperature. I then heat 8-900ml of plain soya milk to blood temperature, pour it into the yoghurt maker, stir, switch on and leave for 8-9 hours. Voila! - soya yoghurt. I then save some of that batch to start the next one off.

    Let's see, my 5 are:

    1. Getting to work this morning to find things have taking a twist for the worse - and being (mostly!) able to let it go over my head. I've said in previous posts that work is stressful and difficult right now but I'm trying not to let it affect me.

    2. Having a work colleague say she'd miss me if I left the firm.

    3. Yummy home made roll for lunch, with fruit salad and homemade soya yoghurt.

    4. A short day at work, mercifully - I can leave in 1 hour and 15 minutes!

    5. Starting the day with a seesion in the gym, so I feel virtuous!

Hope everyone else's day is going well x

Hello everyone, only been away since Friday but there's so much to catch up on! Hello to all the new posters!

Cougette - I'm so sorry to hear your news. I often read bits of your diary on here and find it really inspiring. Posting here really helps me when I'm feeling low - I hope it works for you too.

Sparrer - I grew up with the poem purple, my mum loves it and it never fails to make me smile :D

Bellaquidsin - Oh sounds like a lovely holiday!

    Mine for the weekend.......

1 - not having to drive 300 mile to see OH and having our first weekend for ages with no rushing around :j
2 - Not very OS but I bought a new motorbike helmet for riding pillion on Oh's bike, it's very girlie in green with leaves and flowers printed on - I love it! I'm less excited about thepadded safety trousers and jacket but they make me feel a bit safer!

3 - I made scones for the first times in ages - they didn't rise too well but tasted lovely........with cream and jam.

4 - dinner with my parents last night,

5 - Oh has fitted the bathroom cabinet and made some shelves, at thie rate I'll need to make a new fix it list :rotfl:

6 - lovely sunny day yesterday and a lazy one at that

    Here's a couple more:

    7. My lunchtime walk in the sun
    8. Taking different roads and not being entirely sure where they ended up but finding my way ;)
    9. Finding out there is another library much nearer to my work than I thought it was - and my card still covers that library - so I may not have to wait till saturdays for my library fixes :D

    Mine today are:

    1. feeling very virtuous after walking or should I say pushing 2 kids and a load of shopping to and from Sainsbury's - boy it's muggy here today and I am loving it :D
    2. Only picking up what I needed from Mr S and wasn't tempted to buy anything else
    3. DS being happy just to LOOK at the toys in Mr S rather than actually having one!
    4. Having a nose around my veggie patch in the garden and looking at my produce that I've grown myself
    5. DD being back to her crinkley-smiley-faced self after being poorly. She's started copying us and now does a frantic 2 handed wave :D
