  • Kiwiblue - thinking of you and your good friends. I'm glad to hear spring is on its way for you, I love it when the cherry tree in our garden blossoms - it is so pretty.

Newlywed and Scrummymummy - baby steps, one at a time. I can remember years ago when I was suffering badly from depression struggling to sit up in bed, I just could not wake up. It was a major achievement for me to wake-up and get dressed - so I know how hard it can be. Glad to see you both on here - remember half full not half empty.

My five pleasures for the day:

    1. Laughing with dh as we went around the house doing little diy jobs - think about the Chuckle Brothers "to me, to you" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    2. After having our car serviced and a hefty bill of £500 :eek: on some unexpected maintenance, doing some financial jiggery-pokery and managing to keep all our accounts in the black :T

    3. Reading the "Finished Hampers" thread over on the Special Occaions and Celebrations board and feeling inspired to have a go at a couple of my own - I'll let you know how I get on.

    4. DD inviting her friend for tea and making our planned tea str----e----t----ch, by adding more salad - this would NOT have happened pre - MS and OS days - go me :T:T

    5. Planning to line the bathroom walls with dh tomorrow as he is off work again - we'd love to get a plaster skim but that is just too  especially after our car repairs. If we get that done, I can crack on with painting the ceiling and the walls - watch this space :rotfl:

Enjoy the rest of your evening. Take care everyone.
  • Thanks all for your kind wishes and encouragement it means a lot and has even spurred me on to post todays thanks..
    1. Not being woken up for a nightfeed. I sneakily gave DS a dream feed before i hopped into bed last night and he lasted until 0700 :)
    2. Today's shopping list in Tesco, pleasureable for three reasons , one i kept to my list (unheard of in pre MSE days, i didn't even have a list), i had discount coupons and thirdly i didn't buy any processed food.
    3. A friend popping in for coffee with her son, she bought naughty cakes (oh my poor diet )and the kids played happily for a few hours so we could relax and have a natter.
    4. DH coming home from work and getting the little ones ready for bed. It's not really a chore as such, but it is nice to sit and relax whilst someone else does the whole nappy, pj, milk routine.
    5. Having a roof over my head, food in my belly and my own family whom i adore.
    Sleep tight all

thrifty you did make me laugh, thank you! I hope you don't have to steam roller him to flatten him first :rotfl:

Well done SM for your No 5. That's so positive, and appreciative :A

Gosh Caterina I love the sound of your fringe. I wonder if these mad moments (your hair, my tattoo) will increase as we get older...can't wait to find out! Or maybe I can, don't want to rush it

    My 5...

    1. Another NSD! That's 3 in a row :D

    2. Managing to get the bedding dry between showers, although admittedly I did take some of it in and put it out again

    3. Tidied the understairs cupboard and found enough cleaning materials to last at least another 6 months, and thanks to Stardrops, soda crystals, bicarb and vinegar I hardly use any chemicals these days

    4. Putting the washing machine on at 12.30am, knowing my neighbours do the same so none of us is annoyed by it :D

    5. Saving this til last - went to the post box this afternoon, I found a 10p piece on the verge, picked it up and put it in my purse. It's the first time it's ever happened to me as usually I keep my head up but from now on I'll be scanning the pavements and each find will be known as 'doing a Reverbe' :T

Night night all, sending hugs and wishing you sweet dreams

  • Hi everyone

Different day for me as I went into the office, and realised just how much I love the village, the different noises from the city ( the loudest things around here are the doves which perch on the power lines and tell me its breakfast time, and its about time those bread crusts hit the lawn.

    So my pleasures are

    1. Friend arrived with 20 litres of milk fresh from his jerseys as a surprise prezzie for me - I know, others get chocolates or flowers, I get.... milk.

    2. Making mozzarella cheese to give back to the friend

    3. Making ricotta also to share with above friend.

    4. Making beautiful yellow gold aka butter to also share.

    5. Setting up a gift basket with a little homemade limoncello to round out the Italian theme.

    6. Going down to the beach with OH before going home after work, there are big westerly winds on the way and the seas are mountainous.

    7. OH had an post op appointment with his surgeon and got a good report, apart from being told to slow down and stop doing so much. Like that's going to happen!

Caterina I love the sound of your hair! Kiwiblue, reading about your cheese and butter is making me salivate :D.

    For yesterday:
1 a walk along the river after work
2 first bookclub, everyone was a little shy! We still had an interesting discussion though.
3 having my lunch made for me :)
4 changed the quilt to a light weight one, not as cuddly but much more comfortable! My flat seems to get abnormally hot given that it's not been very warm outside.........I think the neighbours must have their heating on permanently.
5 laughing about nothing in particulr with Oh last night.

    have a lovely day

    Hi everyone. Hope we're all having lovely days. My 5 pleasures;

    1) Doing some flylady cleaning and realising the impact of it!
    2) Homemade pasta sauce in the slow cooker ready for homemade lasagne tonight
    3) Not letting another negative pregnancy test get me down as the Dr says I could still show negative for another fortnight
    4) Going to Sainsburys for bread and coming out with bread - and nothing else!
    5) Allowing some me time - rather than beating myself up trying to clean a house to perfection (ie my mother's standards!)
    Taking baby-steps

    1. Some time spent chatting to a tame frog sunbathing on top of water plants in my mini pond. (He sits there every day and never seems frightened when I approach him). I wonder if he's the same frog for whom Iwent worm hunting last year? I would dig a few up and he would snap the little wrigglers out of my hand!)
    2. Picked three and a half pounds of salad potatoes this morning from the first of my four potato growing containers. Now going to experiment with saving the compost for next year by stirring in some fresh material for composting down in it and putting it in a sunny place to speed up the process.
    3. Using up more courgettes. They're coming now faster than we can eat them!
    4. Finding and destroying about 12 separate batches of cabbage white butterfly eggs in my veggie patch.
    5. Still no blight on my tomato plants despite all the humid weather cause by rain and sunshine.
    6. Getting the washing dried and inside a few minutes before the heavens briefly opened.

    Hi all

Sparrer and Louba, thanks for the hair compliments, I am planning to have a photo taken and uploaded (sooner or later) in place of my current avatar! And, Sparrer, YES definitely my mad moments are going to increase exponentially with my age, why not? Heheeee, have you read that poem "when I am old I shall dress purple"? Here is the link, enjoy (mind you, I have been "practising" for a looong time already!):

    http://lorry.org/Docs/Poems/Other/oldwoman.html

Here are my five for the day:

1 - New mag arrived today in the post

2 - 2 hours babysitting the lovely baby, some of this time spent sitting in M&S cafe with my friend, baby quietly giggling and looking at the world!

3 - Lovely lunch with DS with his 2 for 1 voucher in a local pizzeria

4 - Back home, made Briam (a Greek dish of potato, courgette, onion and tomato sauce - shame I did not have any feta today to add) with more of the courgettes from our front garden. Bless, they are really producing beautifully!

5 - My dear friend popped in with the gift of two fennel plants, which I have already planted in the front garden (which is South-facing and gets loads of sun in the day).

Have a great evening, all! xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
