LameWolf, I'm young and naive had he forgotten his lunch?! :rotfl:

Nitha - hope your son is feeling better today.
Zarazara - sounds like you had a a lovely day with your walk and lunch with OH.
Thriftscotslass - lets hope there weren't too many tears from your DD last night. I am sure if she puts her mind to it she will be able to keep in touch with her friend. We moved away from Somerset 10 years ago and DS was concerned about keeping in touch with his friend but they managed, even all through the university years (they were at opposite ends of the country) but now both work in London and regularly meet up so it can be done with a little effort on both parts.
LameWolf - I wasn't aware that you could get a carer gets in free for NT properties. Will mention that to my dad as they often visit NT properties. As mum is blind the staff are usually very good and let mum "feel" various things that most of us are not allowed to touch, so well done to NT. Also your No 5 made me chuckle.
Bellaquidsin - well done for having the freezer stocked for when you get back from hols. Enjoy your time away.
Scrummymummy - have missed your posts lately, hope you are OK and still managing to find pleasures even if you haven't got time to post them.
Savingforoz - I just love it when you can leave work early (even though it was for the dentist).
RainyWednesday - my job also enables me to work at home sometimes. I just love those days, I get a lie in as no travelling time to work and still manage to start work earlier than if I was in the office.
Louba - your trip to the cookery school sounds wonderful. How lovely to be able to have it subsidised as well.
Honey - One of the reasons I love this site is the support that I feel we all give and receive. Long may it continue. Hope Reverbe is OK today and will continue to post after what happened yesterday.
mineallmine - we now switch things off standby and it does make a difference.
Ollie - I see you haven't posted for a couple of days, hope you and DD are OK.

    1. Only working half a day today as I have enough flexi time to take the afternoon off.
    2. Being asked to work some extra hours for the next couple of weeks to help with backlog of work and my boss agreeing that I can work the extra hours from home.
    3. Stopping off at Home Bargains on the way home today and having time for a leisurely browse.
    4. Getting some more of the silicon bakeware from HB as they had new stock in and different sizes to what I already have. This is great for using in the Remoska.
    5. OH also working from home tomorrow so being able to spend the day together.
    6. Finding out that although the service warning light came on in my car, that it doesn't need a service, the dealer had set it incorrectly, so we don't have to find £200 for an unexpected service.

  • I keep missing a few days (just don't seem to have any spare time at the moment) and have just caught up on the thread.

SunnyGirl - Poor you having Swine Flu. I hope that you are starting to feel better.
Louba - an e-reader - how exciting!! Is it easy/cheap to download books? Do they have to be audio books? Hope things are going well with OH moving in too.
Beki - well done on all your baked goods. Very inspiring.
Caterina - well done on the weight loss.
jollymummy - glad you had such a great holiday.
olliebeak - sounds like a horrendous weekend for you. Hope your equilibrium is restored now.
reverbe - I didn't see the nasty posts but I just wanted to send you warm wishes from me as I LOVE reading about your pleasures. Can't see why anyone wouldn't
    RainyWednesday - :jfor Lithiania

Here are mine for the past few days:
    1) Had the best time at the Festival of History at the weekend. The whole family did.
    2) It was quite bizarre seeing all the different people dressed up from different eras mingling together. Especially when you were queueing for the portaloos behind a viking, a Roman centurion, a Tudor lady and a Russian WWII soldier! We had a game - '5p for the first person to spot a Roman on a mobile phone'!
    3) I was very taken with the fire pits and tripods, and pots etc that the re-enactors used. Would have loved a range for the garden but they were very expensive.
    4) DS1 has decided on a summer project of making a complete viking outfit and a shield. We bought some very reasonable 'authentic' cloth and a boss for his shield.
    5) The weather held out until we were leaving on Sunday evening.
    6) Reading with DS1 - we were just finishing a very good book and DH was kind enough to read it to us on the drive down. I also started a really good book called 'Gentlemen and Players' by Joanna Harris. It's very can't put-downable.
    7) Have picked and cooked some beetroot from the garden ready for chocolate beetroot cake.
    8) A lovely sunny day today. Wanted to go and play on the beach today but DS1 was feeling unwell - hope the weather holds out so we can go tomorrow.
    9) Joined Lovefilm again at a much reduced rate - looking forward to the dvds to start being delivered.
    10) My chickens first year anniversary (since they were liberated from the battery farm).

    Today's pleasures:-

    1. Taking the DGK's to Bidford-on-Avon and spending a lovely day by the river.

    2. Tried fishing with fishing nets, but the river was too fast and the fish wouldn't hold still

    3. Finding a lovely craft shop full of card making supplies which I hadn't seen before.

    4. Taking DGK's home, lovely to have them, lovely to see them go.

    5. As we are not going to be able to eat out on holiday, and as I was very tired, we treated ourselves to a carvery meal out.:T:T:TFeel like I've started my holiday already - only two more days to go. One to clean the house, one to pack.

    Hi all

Reverbe thanks for your kind PM, I tried to reply but your inbox is full!

Love and hugs to all who need them.

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - Having had a bit of a disturbed night and wondering how I would manage to look after the (usually very wakeful) baby today, he surprised me by having a reasonably long afternoon kip, which gave me an opportunity to have my lunch and a litte rest too.

2 - DD made me salad for lunch while I looked after the baby (see post above).

3 - Had my Healthwise appointment (fitness by doctor's prescription) and the fitness guy is happy with my progress - it means that I can keep the VERY LOW COST subscription to the gym.

4 - Courgette plants in front garden doing really well, had some for dinner with pasta, yummy!

5 - DD's BF, who works as a trainee pastry chef, brought back from work a beautiful passion fruit cake and I am about to go and have a slice with a cup of tea before going to sleep.

    Good night all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Hi
Have been away for a few days, struggling to be positive (two friends have been diagnosed with terminal cancer and have both been told they have a very short time left) but am now back and trying to counting my pleasures.
ReverbeMy father always used to walk along looking for and picking up coins off the street. Unfortunately he died several years ago. Every time I read your posts you bring back another memory of him, thank you so much for that. Your posts are a real blessing to me.
My five for the last few days.
    1. Have been attacking the weeds in the large outdoor vegetable garden with a vengeance, the garden is now ready for spring planting.
    2. Set up another small hydroponics system and planted it with strawberries, raddichio, pak choy and lettuces.
    3. Looking forward to DS and family visiting for the weekend.
    4. Working from home is great, I can do as much or as little when I want and can still sneak in household chores.
    5. The first small signs of spring are here, the fig tree has the start of new leaves and the plum looks as if it is about to burst into blossom any day.
    Have a great day everyone
    Blessings be
    Jennie

Scrummymummy - have missed your posts lately, hope you are OK and still managing to find pleasures even if you haven't got time to post them.

Thanks for asking after me :)

I must admit, i have been really struggling lately. The combination of the bad weather, playgroups/classes for the children being on holidays and DH's long hours have been proving hard going.

There have been a lot of days in the not to recent past where i haven't managed to get dressed at all, nor do any housework. Then of course i get fed up with myself for not making an effort and the fact the house is a tip starts to get on top of me. It's a vicious circle.

Having suffered from depression before, i know that in order to 'make things right' i need to focus on achieving small things and i'm working hard at this. Unfortunately the small things are so insignificant to most (or that's how i've been feeling) so i haven't felt like mentionning them. I am feeling a lot better though and the house is slowly getting back to a semblance of order as is my mental state.

    So, my pleasures today were
    1. Drying my washing on the line outside. The first time the weather has been nice enough for me to want to risk it :)
    2. Lunch with DD in town whilst DS slept soundly.
    3. As i am dieting (another monster i have been putting off dealing with) i was rather good and managed to avoid the usual naughties whilst DD ate chips right in front of my face making yummy noises (bless toddlers and their enthusiasm). This felt like a big accomplishment for me.
    4. A trip to the park on the way home with DD. Even though she cried all the way home cos she missed her 'park' LOL
    5. Feeling in a 'place' mentally where i can post my pleasures.
    Good night all
    xxx
