Five OS Pleasures in your day today

No nobody I have better things to do with my time than post to people who deliberately set out to antagonise.
I am also rather upset to see someone attacking me for one of the very rare pleasures I have in life. This thread is a feel good thread for myself and many here not really a thread to be spoilt by people trying to make us feel bad for the tiny pleasures that bring great joy to our lives. I do not have much in life but tiny things like yes finding a penny on the street makes me smile amongst the loneliness and hardships of my life. I have no desire to get into some kind of slanging match with you and make my day even worse.
Mine I LOVE that smiley. Where did you find it?
Hugs to Ollie and everyone else who needs or wants one. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Hey Reverbe - here's a useful Smilie site:

6. I'll just add this as a sixth OS pleasure. It's a fab site and in celebration:Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks

A catch up over the past week which has been hectic:
1. Two separate relatives coming to stay, one from abroad, nose-to-tail, so it's been 'natter, natter' and a chance to catch up with family news.
2. Lots of nice home-made meals to celebrate this.
3. The funeral of a dear very old friend. (Obviously his death was not a blessing but his life was, and seeing so many of his friends from across the years turn up to celebrate that, many of whom had travelled long distances to be there, was a reminder that many of the things we are and do have the capacity to touch other peoples lives for good.
4. Picking our first beetroots today, more kohl rabi, and Oh Dear, MORE COURGETTES, three of which had grown into darned great marrows. (Having visitors here distracted me from the daily courgette hunt, and this is what happens!)
5. Visitors bed laundry now drying in the breeze, and lovely though it was to have them, the house is now quiet again and we can enjoy a quiet cup of tea without being on "entertainment duty".
6. And now we have the house to ourselves again, we don't have to bother shutting loo and bedroom doors any more. (Funny how those strange little disruptions to daily routine make a difference).0 -
Hi all
Ollie, I am so sorry to hear about all your stresses and troubles, big hugs from me!
And hugs also to Reverbe, who has been very unpleasantly attacked for her good fortune in finding pennies in the street and her good sense of picking them up. Not only I believe that the offending post is patronising and silly, but I am also convinced that there is a greater being in operation in the Universe, who sometimes takes (we all lose our pennies at times) and sometimes gives. Finding a penny is actually a GIFT! Not accepting it as such, I believe, gives the Universe a signal that we are being sniffy and not welcoming abundance in our lives.
Putting these pennies in charity tins is, of course, up to the receiver of the gift, but this is not a good enough reason to be uppity and patronising to people who choose not to.
Anyway, I missed yesterday, so here are the two days together:
Sunday
1 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH, my usual weekend treat, which I never will take for granted but always be grateful for!
2 - Trip to the farmers market, bought a lovely loaf of Italian (pugliese) bread for dinner
3 - Dinner with DD's BF's parents went very well, this was the first time we met them and we really wanted to make a good impression (I think we did, even if we are a bit of a weird family hehehe).
4 - There was enough leftover pasta bake so that I could give it to my friend who was coming back from a holiday, so she and her DH did not have to cook.
5 - My friend brought me Welsh cakes - yummy, had a treat of one in bed, with a nice cup of tea.
Monday
1 - Great keep-fit class, I decided to go at the last minute, I nearly missed it out of laziness but in the end managed to shake my bottom off the seat, get ready and made it just in time for the train! Feeling proud of myself!:T
2 - Loads of treats today in the post, I should list them one at a time but will put them all together instead for practical reasons:
- 3 magazines
- 2 eye pencils (gift from one magazine)
- 1 MP3 not sure where it is coming from, I must have won some comp that I have forgotten YIPPEE!!!
- free Orange SIM card to get Orange Wednesday films 2 for 1 offer
- T-Shirt from Method
- Samples from Method
3 - Made myself a lovely lunch of salad, rice and lentil soup and icecream with h/m chocolate sauce (it makes vanilla ice cream turn into chocolate ice cream! Miracle or wot)
4 - Emails with discount vouchers
5 - Anticipating tonight outing with colleagues (friends) to celebrate our reinstatement of hours at work.
Love to everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Afternoon all. Have just spent ages reading through this thread and posting my pleasures only to find they have just disappeared along with the unpleasant posts about Reverbe before I had time to post.
I had done my usual personal replies to each and all but am running out of time now so will just post my pleasures quickly.
1. DS GF moving to London at the weekend to start a new job so no more Sunday evening goodbyes for them.
2. Being proud of DS for recognising that his GF had swine flu last night and going out late to pick up her Tamiflu before cooking a meal for them both when he got back.
3. OH & I sharing housework yesterday and thoroughly cleaning a couple of bedrooms including pulling everything out and dusting behind. We actually enjoyed sharing this household chore.
4. Enjoying a lovely meal on Sat with friends and making 2 lovely puddings from Good Food subscription (3 for £3).
5. Going out to check on the courgettes and finding we have marrows as well as I forgot to go and check them at the weekend.
Hugs to all who need them especially Ollie and Reverbe - you both sound really in need of a hug.0 -
Reverbe - have tried to send you a PM but you need to clear some space.0

Hi all
Sorry to hear there have been unpleasant posts (although pleased to see they've been removed before I read them!) - Reverbe your pleasures were lovely to read.
I'm at home today looking after my poorly boy who is whining away. He has a nasty cough that is disturbing his sleep so he's very grumpy.
My pleasures have been;
1) Cleaning both the kitchen and living room
2) Baking cheese straws and my own adaptation of twinks hobnobs (I use honey instead of syrup)
3) Making a batch of iced tea
4) Fragrancing the living room with scented tea-lights
5) Really getting the laundry pile down thanks to the afternoon sunshineTaking baby-steps :beer:0 -
1. walking along the river bank, the sun shining, the cows and sheep grazing happily, the birds singing in the alder trees and the castle ruin in the background.
2. Doing half of the home blessing hour
3. deciding in the paint for the bedroom
4. lunch with DH
5. a kind neighbour giving me 4 new laid eggs."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
Afternoon me lovelies
Sending lots of good wishes to Ollie and Ollie's DD., I've been thinking of you both today. Reverbe, a special hug to you - I found a shiny penny in the street the other day and ran to pick it up, it made my day
What can I post for today?
1. Finishing glossing my fifth door today :T. It made me realise how  the hallway doors were before - now they are all pristine white and sparkly.
2. Carrying on from no 1. - because I sanded the doors properly and used a good quality gloss, I think I am going to get away with one coat and just touching up a few dodgy areas :T:T:T
3. A bright, blustery day today that had my washing dry in no time - although I had to run out like a loon in the middle of a shower to rescue everything :rotfl:.
4. DD showing me the presents that she has bought for a friend who is moving away. They are going out for a goodbye meal tonight - I hope there is not too many tears tonight and that they keep in contact.
5. Hm chicken curry for tea tonight - we may have to eat early tonight as I am sooooo hungry.
Love to all and will pop back later tonight to see how everyone is doing xxx0
