  • 5. Sharing a bar of that rum and raisin chocolate loved by pirates (according to a very old TV add) which had been bought for us from Poundland by DD.

    Bella.

Old Jamaica - haven't had that in years; when dh and I were students we used to share a bar with blue label Thunderbird and lemonade - must go out and buy some now - Old Jamaica that is, don't think we could tolerate Thunderbird anymore :rotfl:
  • Hope everyone is keeping well - can't believe it's Friday tomorrow, where has the week gone?

    1. A much nicer day today - some blue skies and dry spells today :j

    2. Cracking on with my diy. I've glossed three door frames in the hallway - that's two left for tomorrow. After that, it's five panel doors and that'll be the first coat of gloss in the hallway completed :T

    3. A compliment from our GP today who said that dh and I should pat ourselves on the back with the course of action we have taken with ds as it has obviously benefitted ds's mental health tremendously. His advice was to take it slowly - he is happy to sign off ds for as long as is needed.

    4. Hm chilli con carne and rice for tea - much appreciated by all :D

    5. Looking forward to a glass of red at wine o'clock tonight :rotfl:

    Take care all xxx

Oh - all this talk of chocolate is making want to run to the shops..........
Mineallmine - I haven't made chilli in ages so thanks for the inspiration! I add a teaspoon each of cumin and ground corriander to my chilli as well as the chilli, give it a nice rich flavour.
Thrifyscotslass that's great news about your DS, must be a relief for you. Good luck with the decorating, mine is almost done aprt from the annoying little things that we haven't got round to....I have a mental list for OH!

1 - I knocked my fruit bowl off the top of the fridge getting my recipe book down - it broke and dented the kitchen unit, oh dear. Trying to see the up side! I noticed a chipped bit under the sink a couple of weeks ago and had been meaning to fix it with laminate sealant but have been putting it off....until tonight when all chips were repaired. Hope it looks ok...:o
2 - eating the last of the ice cream
3 - all my bedding is in the wasking machine so nice clean sheets for me tonight!
4 - Had lovely spiced chicken for tea, very easy and tasty...and i made a batch last night so I only had to heat it tonight along with some home amde mash from the freezer
5 - Peace lilly is still flowering, I'm amazed I haven't killed the flowers off yet
6 - Doing my best domestic goddess routine for OH arriving tomorrow.

Good night and a lovely Friday for tomorrow x

    Evening everyone...

Thank you for so many interesting posts, recipes, children, health, food and drink, decorating etc etc...I'm exhausted reading them!

    My recent blessings...

    1. I've at last got all my meds changed and I feel different, so much better already. If this is only day 2, what am I going to be like at the end of the month?!

    2. DD and I have started working on weight loss together to give each other encouragement. With her Lupus and my COPD (however did we get into this mess ) we both lead sedentary lifestyles but have let things slip just too far. Friday morning is our weigh in day so I have to make a concerted effort over the next week not to be beaten ;). While on the subject of children I had a lovely long chat with DS this evening, he's forgotten to post my b/day card so phoned to apologise. Typical M , with respect to any M posters or lurkers I always think it's the women who hold families together by remembering the important things.

    3. Having finished all the naughty food in the house now, I did a shop for good foods today and can't believe how little I spent.

    4. Am going away for the weekend tomorrow, to a convention with my fellowship at a Hilton Hotel no less :p but very subsidised, thank goodness. I'm really looking forward to it but I mustn't get used to being waited on as there's no-one at home to do it when I get back!

    5. DNeighbour found a really cheap coach weekend to see the Blackpool illuminations, I've been once many years ago and would love to go again. She's going to phone to see if there are still places - return coach, 2 nights HB, an excursion and a drive to see the lights for £99, I hope there are..it'll be something to look forward to in the darker days of Autumn.

Night night all, sweet dreams, stay safe and well. Hugs for anybody who needs or would just like one...

Thanks for the hug Sparrer :):)

    1. Feeling like a yummy mummy when I worked from home, silly really, but being able to have DD's tea ready for her when I picked her up from nursery was a lovely feeling. We were able to come in and get her fed rather than the usual rush (me)/low energy (her)
    2. Going out for a gorgeous walk with DD before said dinner yesterday, and taking my keys in a carrier bag.....which meant I had space for goodies! We picked nearly 2lb of tiny plums, some blackberries (well, they didn't last the journey, DD had a fruit salad as we went along), gathered some pine cones and found plenty of apple trees and a couple of hazelnut trees for later trips. It was just a gentle stroll around the village, ending up at the park to play on the swings and slides, and it was lovely.
    3. Knowing I'm going to be not very MS today and have my eyebrows shaped. I'm useless at doing it myself and it's a rare treat to be pampered
    4. Looking forward to reading my new books from the library. I can't remember the last time I bought a novel, so much easier to borrow them, not least because my office is opposite a fantastically friendly and well stocked library.
    5. Realising that I'm likely to get to the end of the month with a bit of cash left in the bank account, yippee! Ok, so I have a week to go til payday, but I think it can and shall be done :)

    My pleasures yesterday:-

    1. Getting the washing almost dry outdoors before the rain came.

    2. Finishing the drying on an airer over the bath. Once upon the time it would have gone in the TD but now the TD is no more.

    3. Getting the ironing done because what needed doing was just damp enough when it came off the line.

    4. DH vaccing all through the house for me.

    5. Nice clean house, no more ironing until the middle of next week and a garden thriving on all the rain we are having.
