SunnyGirl - sorry to read of your swine flu, hope you get better soon and make the most of being looked after
1. Being able to work at home whilst off sick (think they're worried its swine flu but it's not, just a cold and cough...)
2. Resisting the urge to spend any money yesterday whilst out mooching last night
3. My dad offering to pay for my double glazing - yippee! the house will nice and warm this winter, no more freezing in my bedroom with a stuck mouldy windowI'm soooo grateful xx
4. Losing more weight, I'm slimmer now than I have been in years upon years, still have a way to go to be a healthy BMI but maybe by Christmas I'll be there!
5. Watching the birds lining up on the fence before flapping over to take their turn on our bird feeder, they're so cute!0 -
Sunnygirl, I hope it passes as quickly as possible and you're well looked after in the meantime
Ollie - hope your necklace turns up too! Mine was a present from my OH on our first Christmas, I know he fretted for ages on what to buy me so I would have been gutted to lose it.
Mine for today:
1 - had been very organised with my lunches today but then forgot to take it from the fridge this morning . nevermind - had a lovely brocolli and brie soup from the canteen instead.........might even have been nicer than my own soup....maybe!
2 - A friend gave me a CD with all of Patricia Cornwell's books on for my e-reader (not very OS but it was a gift and saves me using up all my baggage allowance on flights on books!)
3 - Got fed up not having a mirror in the bathroom while we look for a suitable cabinet so I put up a mirror last night as a temporary mirror. It's far to nice for the bathroom and can't stay there too long as it has a metal surround but it is very pretty to look at and made get ready this morning a bit quicker.
4 - an ex colleague got in touch this morning to arrange to see me for lunch some time soon
5 - Did lots of tidying last night to make room for OH's things when he arrives on Friday. We need to move the piano out of the spare room into the front room and I'm looking forward to having it where I can see it as I'll be much more inclined to sit down and play.
6 - another lovely sunny day
Have a wonderful day all

1. getting the following out of one bag of bread flour - 1 large pizza, 2x small pizzas, 2x large apple braids, 12x small chocolate roulades, 10x rolls, and 1 small loaf of bread
2. speaking to my 88 year old nan for ages on the phone this morning
3. my 10 year old DD hoovering the kitchen for me without moaning (don't faintlol)
4. watching the chooks running around the garden loving the cooler weather
5. picking some more courgettes from the garden0 -
Good evening from a very dark part of Lancashire  I've got the lights on its so bad! Thank you so much for the good wishes I've felt marginally better this afternoon (although that could be the co-codamol that were prescribed
) The kids are being wonderful and I've had a few texts from friends/family asking whats up as DS2 had put get well soon mum on his Facebook - bless him!
Re: woodpigeons - they are a noisy lot aren't they? It's usually the noise that I hear first as I wonder what it is
My five for today are:
1. Being looked after generally :A
2. I made 3 chicken breasts, an onion and 3 peppers feed 7 of us tonight as DS1 had a friend here - he's been here every day for a week and his parents know the situation - I did chicken korma with rice followed by fruit & ice cream and it was much appreciated :T
3. I was reading in Prima magazine (gift from DH) that it's good to count your blessings on a daily basis as it helps with positive affirmation in these dark credit crunchy times - think we all know that :rotfl:
4. My friend is going to the library for me tomorrow to get me something to read.
5. My Mum rang me to tell me that she's made a massive shepherds pie and will drop it off (at the door only) to DH tomorrow. I won't have to cook which will be lovely.
6. An extra one as I feel very lucky to have such caring family & friends around me - and I include people on here in that too :A
I hope that you all have nice evenings. I'm going for a hot bath then bed with a book I think!0 -
Sunnygirl - here's to a speedy recovery for you. Luv your ds putting you on Facebook
Haven't posted for a couple of days as have been feeling a bit out of sortsbut..... I have been reading everyone else's posts which has put a smile on my face on more than one occasion
. Soooo....
1. Having this thread to read - it has become part of my keep well medicine for the day :T. A very, very big thankyou to you all.
2. Taking a leaf out of Reverbe's book and picking up 1p from the street :j
3. Ds saying thankyou for a lovely tea - all it was was pasta with a hm cheese sauce. I think it was on his plate all of 30 seconds.
4. Laughing at dd's outrage when she was locked out of the house for all of 5 mins after school tonight. It did make me realise how much she was enjoying having someone in the house when she came in from school though. I did get a hug in the end after I bribed her with a M&S doughnut :rotfl:
5. One for me - realising that my own dm was emotionally blackmailing me. Sitting down and thinking long and hard about the situation and finding strength from the truth that I have absolutely nothing to feel guilty or responsible about.
Ooooh and another one - finding my old knitting needles and some wool. Haven't knitted for years and years so I'm going to start again and join the knit a square to give your share thread. As much as I love my 'puter, I find something like knitting really relaxes my worrisome head.
Have a good evening everyone and a good day tomorrow.0 -
Been really busy that last few days, but here are mine for today.
1. DH bringing me a coffee in bed this morning (almost unheard of!)
2. Going swimming with DD2
3. Last day at work before going on holiday on Friday.
4. Not very MS, but some new clothes for me from the sales. (I very rarely buy myself clothes but managed to get some bargains).
5. Rice pudding with jam after tea.
Having a cosy evening on the sofa now, having washed pots, cleaned the bathroom and done the vaccuuming - I deserve it.0 -
SunnyGirl - hope you will soon be feeling much better, but don't rush things - it takes time. Not easy for mums I know. thriftyscotslass - there is just nothing like a bit of knitting for unwinding, and it has a useful end product too.
Today's pleasures:-
1. Managing to iron (steam roller) all the creases out of two of DH's shirts and one of my tops which looked like tissue paper after I had set the WM for 95deg instead of 40. I think I'm loosing it this week.
2. Having an elderly friend for a salad lunch with lots of homegrown leaves. She loved the home made yogurt too.
3. Taking friend for afternoon tea at a lovely craft centre, where we managed not to buy hand made chocolates.
4. Bringing friend back for dinner of sc boiled bacon which had been getting itself ready all day.
5. Sharing a bar of that rum and raisin chocolate loved by pirates (according to a very old TV add) which had been bought for us from Poundland by DD.

Good evening all!
SunnyGirl, I hope you get better soon and also good wishes for good health and recovery for thriftyscotslass!
Here are my five for the day:
1 - Great workout in the park.
2 - Went to weight nurse and found that I have lost weight! from 88kg (3-4 weeks ago) I am now 86.9kg! Going in the right direction, without too many sacrifices and having plenty of treats - way to go!
3 - Acupuncture session very good (even if quite challenging today). After all the needles were in I felt so relaxed that I fell asleep!
4 - Gazpacho for dinner, I have been looking forward to making some for a while and eventually did - it was really nice and everybody loved it.
5 - At long last DH got himself a new lens for the diggy SLR camera (whatever that is, I am so not into photography!). It is good to see him so happy and playing with his new toy, he always works so hard and it is good to see him doing something recreational for a change!
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

4) Watching Coupling reruns on TV
5) Having leftover homemade chicken pieTaking baby-steps :beer:0 -
Morning all,
Hope everyone is ok and SunnyGirl gets over Swine Flu (good idea to avoid your folks). Feel tired this morning, did too much yesterday (a recurring theme here!).
1. Toast brought to me again yesterday (I think because I'm so thankful my loved one is enjoying doing this)
2. Had a big lunch yesterday so just had a snack for dinner. Don't need two big dinners a day.
3. Finding this blog from a fellow MSEr http://savingsnow.blogspot.com/ - you never stop learning.
4. Making a batch of chillis for the freezer - great with jacket potatoes, or with rice or pasta. Quick recipe details below.
5. A bright day.
Hope all is well with ampersand, no doubt busy in the garden.
CHILLI Pack of pork mince, 3 onions, 4 tins chopped tomatoes, 1tsp chilli flakes (or to taste), 2 tbsp ketchup, 2 tbsp brown sauce, 2 tbsp worcester sauce.
1. Fry meat in a little oil (you can dry fry if you're feel virtuous) until meat is evenly coloured. Add chopped onions. Fry for a few mins.
2. Add chilli flakes and stir. Add worcester sauce (strange time I know but it helps moisturen the mince) and fry for a few mins.
3. Add the chopped tomatoes, ketchup and brown sauce. Simmer for 30-45 mins. Season with salt/pepper or more chilli flakes to taste.
:ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
