Oh dear, missed another couple of days again, naughty naughty! Never mind, here are the three days including today:

    Saturday:

1 - Free fitness circuit on Blackheath, it was a "try me" offer and I don't think I shall join because £8.50 for walking up and down the grassy field is a bit much for me, a lot of the other exercises are quite hard even for a beginners class. Especially now that I have my gym membership at £12 per month!

2 - A nice long rest after the class and some peaceful, not "rushing around doing things" time with DH, makes a change!

3 - DH and I demolished the pyramid of profiteroles that came with the "2 eat for £10" offer - we really stretch that offer for days and days (the butter and parmesan of the vegetable dish went into our macaroni pepper and cheese)!

4 - Next door neighbour's birthday barbecue. Not the most exciting event in my calendar by far, but nice to be invited - and gorgeous salads and puddings (which made up for the fact that everybody else was stuffing their faces with dead grilled animals!).

5 - Found that one of the books I got from the charity sale at the church was really very good indeed!

    Sunday:

1 - Exceptionally nice porridge with maple syrup and cup of tea, served in bed courtesy of DH, I am truly blessed and spoiled!

2 - Very long lie-in keeping reading the book I mentioned above.

3 - Went food shopping with DH and we resisted the temptation to buy a Starbucks, good on us!

4 - Lovely balmy evening, starting feeling really like summer weather.

5 - Stir fry made with our very own cabbage leaves (as well as other bought veg), salad of mixed leaves entirely from our own garden (delicious!).

    Monday:

1 - All day working with the baby, hard work but the lovely (and very accommodating!) babba slept over my lunch time so I had a chance of having some lunch.

2 - DD helped me with the baby for a couple of hours, it is lovely to see her relate to babies so well, she will make a lovely mum one day (God willing).

3 - The fact that I work for this lovely family for the time being and as well as paying a good rate it is also such a pleasant job.

4 - Evening meal out with DH at an Indian vegetarian restaurant, a pre-theatre meal of poppadom, starter, just about every curry you can think of and pudding for £7.99 per person, amazing value and really tasty too.

5 - After dinner we went to see Stomp, I had bought the tickets via a special internet offer and we had great seats for very little money. You just gotta love those bargains!

    Today:

1 - Went to the dentist and even though I was terrified he gave me so many anaesthetic shots that I did not feel a thing, thanks God! (The pleasure being that it was not painful and that now it is over and done of course!).

2 - Went to see the baby's mum (my work family) as a friend only, held the baby while mum picked up redcurrants and she promised me some of the jelly she will make. I did not do it for the jelly really but it will be super-welcome!

3 - The weather, what can one say, it feels like summer should feel! Gorgeous and sunny. Love it absolutely!

4 - Panzanella for lunch (broken pieces of stale bread wet with water and covered with tomato, avocado, rocket (own production!) and onions, chopped finely and dressed with olive oil and vinegar. Yummy.

5 - Anticipating the outing in the sun after I finish my work bit (got to type the minutes).

Love to all, hope the weather is treating everybody well and you are having fun!

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Today's pleasures are formed round the 'how far can we make the money stretch routine' again.

    1. Tuesday is usually a shopping day for me but since I am growning my own salad leaves I find I need less and less of a top up from the greengrocery dept. Sooooo....., I stayed at home and had an NSD:T

    2. Made apple chutney with some decidedly manky looking apples.

    3. Chopped some extra onions and froze them, never done this before.

    4. Made some cards which will hopefully bring in some pennies.

    5. The veg on our dinner was gleaned by just keeping a little back when I've been feeding visiting family over the last two days. Don't think anyone noticied but we got a 'free' feed.

Well done Bella :money: It's the little things that add up.

    My five for today are:

    1. Getting all the washing dried outside before the heavens opened at 1pm

    2. Being with my Mum & Dad for a couple of hours before tomorrows operation for Dad.

    3. DS2 had his 15th birthday today :bdaycake:

    4. Lots of visitors over the course of the evening - both DS2's friends and mine to drop off cards.

    5. Enjoying leftover pasta concoction from last nights meal for lunch today - it was a real bottom of the fridge rummage too :D

Just stumbled across this thread - and think that it's a great idea. My 5 for today have to be:

    1. Hubby working from home (rather than commuting 132 miles round trip)
    2. Lovely sunny day - being able to crack on with the washing
    3. Having a £3 hair cut at the local college
    4. Taking our girls swimming for free
    5. Reminiscing as sorting through CD collection this evening

    I saved a bat!!

It's been flying round/hiding since yesterday but as I was on night shift last night I hadn't seen it, mother was babysitting and reported our new lodger to me this morning but to be honest after searching for it all day and not finding it I thought she'd sat out in the sun too long... Till it woke me up flying over my head!! have, I hope sucessfully herded it out the front door - there's no flying now and it was pretty active so fingers crossed...

I realise it's not very money saving or old style but very heroic on my part :A so thought i'd share it :D :rotfl:

    Good night!!

Have missed a few days as I have DM staying with me, going out and about and generally enjoying ourselves. Where is Ollie? I don't see any posts from her for a few days, I do hope all is well with her and her family

    Recent blessings...

    1. DGD1 was given free tickets for her and her friends to see the X Factor auditions now they've opened up to the public :j

    2. Lovely visit to DM's sister who is in a beautiful residential home. She unfortunately has Alzheimers but seems very happy, and although my aunt hadn't seen her sister for some time she recognised her and remembered her name. Even my cousin, who sees his mother every week, was surprised and DM was thrilled, so a very worthwhile visit all round :A

    3. A good meal out yesterday in a pub offering 2 meals for £7. DM had lasagne and I chose the warm chicken and bacon salad, they were beautifully cooked and presented, and very substantial

    4. Have been invited to go on a pulmonary rehab course in August (if I pass the assessment in July), I've heard how good the course is so am looking forward to that...all the more so because it's free through NHS :D

    5. A very welcome payment of £70 from a survey site which has come at just the right time, as a friend and I are going away for a weekend shortly and payment is due soon. It will cover over half the cost of the accommodation and meals :T

Night night n God bless, hugs to everyone who needs or just would like one
