    Morning all,

    1. Doing a good deed for an old lady - she was in a wheelchair and I offered to get her a drink.
    2. A sales assistant who noticed a woman was being greedy and trying to have all/most of the reduced hot chickens in the supermarket. She came up to me and handed me one, away from this woman!
    3. Um, that's all today.

    1) A lie-in. Having teenagers is wonderful. We get up to play before they do
    2) A walk around some lovely gardens to pinch ideas for ours.
    3) Saturday is junk day. Have already eaten some (value) salted cashews and there are chocolate raisins in the cupboard.
    4) Not at first a blessing but the new gutter is leaking, so we will have to get the builder back and DH has agreed to ask him for an estimate to do something with our tumbledown garage. We don't have the money but we might know what to aim for
    5) Reading some of the other threads on this site. People don't hold back, do they? But it made me smile

Hi all. It's been a busy day here getting ready for DS2's birthday party tonight ;) My five are:

    1. Also got a bit of a lie in until 9am and I was still the first up :D

    2. A lovely walk with the dog this morning.

    3. Seeing my Mum :A

    4. Anticipated good night watching 26 fifteen year olds party the evening away.

    5. Lovely quick tea of scrambled eggs on toast with tinned tomatoes.
  • Evening all!

    My pleasures today:
    1. A lie in until 0945 as DH took the kids downstairs for breakfast at 0700.
    2. A free day out at a local village fair :)
    3. Enjoying reasonably priced, locally produced food at said fair.
    4. Putting the babes to bed at 1930, both were shattered after a lovely day out in the sun.
    5. A free dvd to watch this evening (am on rental dvd free trial)
Really looking forward to a lovely fathers day tomorrow, despite the fact that DH unwittingly ruined his gift by buying same item for himself yesterday (what are the chances?!).

    Sleep well

    Hello
I'm a bit lax at the moment and didn't pop on yesterday!! I love this thread, it's so uplifting isn't it?

Here are my blessings for today.

    1. This is a funny one!!! Was going to drag a very unwilling OH round the shops to buy a suit for my friends wedding - that we couldn't really afford - opened spare wardrobe and said oy what about this one you wore for your sisters wedding, he said ooh yeah, I've hardly worn that I'd forgotten about it!! thought it was women who did that :) Anyhoo just had a trip to Matalano for a shirt and tie, shirt £6, tie £5, got to till they'd been reduced and cost £6.50 altogether - result!!! we're all sorted now.

    2. Ate our first ever home grown spuds. tonight, Maris Pipers, totally delish. took me back to tea at Grandmas eating spuds from Grandads allotment in the 70s, magic. We also figured the amount we picked today would have cost £1.38 from Mr T's yay!!

    3. Had a lovely day pottering, DS been very good today.

    4. Played in my tiny greenhouse, tying up tom plants, trimming leaves on courgettes etc.

    5. Ankle well on the mend.

    6. Did a prize draw on my blog to give away some stuff from my online shop - it's good to share.

    7. Looking forward to hols next Friday and happy about fact we've bought all we need, without breaking the bank.

    8. guilty pleasure - Hotel Babylon last night and Gardeners World - fab!!

    9. DS has a good boy sticker chart and earned his prize of a reduced price Kung Fu Panda DVD - watched it last night and bless him, he sat all way through it entranced, it is very funny.

Ooo I always waffle on. Have a lovely evening. Have a nice Fathers Day tomorrow and big hugs to those of you like me who can't be with their darling Dads. I'm going to try to get to the crematorium with some flowers or as DS calls it the, flower country - bless him.:A

    4/366. 2016 Decluttering challenge
  • I haven't posted on here in ever such a long time. We have had a chaotic couple of months with DS(17) finally receiving a diagnosis of High Functioning Autism / Asperger's Syndrome; dropping out of sixth form and going onto Disability Living Allowance. My own role has changed in that I am now a full-time Carer to DS and have returned to being a SAHM.

Things are starting to take shape in our new life, so here are my 5 for today:

    1. Having the time and wanting to return to OS :D
    2. Making cheesy baked potatoes for tea; OS and money-saving
    3. My DD (14) bringing home a father's day present for her and DS because in her words "DS wouldn't want to go into a shop to buy a present". I was sooooo proud of her :A
    4. Cleaning the front room for the first time in a long time; there's no dust anymore :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    5. Feeling that we can start to move forward again with our lives:smileyhea
  • thriftyscotslass - you sound like you've found a new lease of life after your son's diagnosis. Here's wishing you all the best for a new start

    My pleasures today:

    1) The in-laws taking the boys out to the toy shop.
    2) DH and I scoffing fish and chips on the pier at Cromer. We were only meant to pop into town to buy a few pieces :o
    3) Got loads done in the garden today. DH is promising that he'll knock up a raised bed tomorrow too.
    4) DS1 taking part in the Scouts 'great Sleepover' - they're aiming to break a Guiness world record for largest simultaneous sleepover.
    5) Phoning my sister before she headed off for her well-deserved 2 week holiday in Spain. She's been quite unwell for the last couple of months but her excitement about this holiday seems to have raised her spirits and health.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads tomorrow. xx

    1. making some onion marmalade
    2. making some sausage rolls whilst on the phone to my mum - she can be so funny
    3. seeing my 'old ladies' in the charity shop - its my weekly treat more to chat to them and swap 'stories' than to buy anything
    4. Writing a card/letter to my elderly relatives, a bit of a dying art but I really enjoy doing it.
    5. finding time to do some sewing - nice to have 5 minutes to myself

We used to leave flowers on "Grandad's doorstep" when my lot were little. My luvverlee FIL passed just three weeks after my eldest was born but because I'm a big believer in carrying these folk around in my heart, we talk about him--& others--all the time. The Care Bears were very popular around then so Grandad Bill was out helping them paint the rainbows because he was such a good painter & decorator here. Later on Gran-grad became the driver of the steam train to make the clouds--my dad was on the railway for 48yrs! Come to think of it, neither Nanny or Unka have been asigned a position yet so maybe we'll do that today :p
My lot are all in their 20's now but we still talk about our relatives like this in our 'gentle times'. For the way they have accepted death & still embrace their family, I shall be eternally grateful for the caring souls my children have become.
    Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;
loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

  • My five for today:

    1. My DH having a lovely father's day.
    2. DD confidently going off to her weekend job - she is growing up fast and enjoying earning her own money.
    3. Changing DS and DD bedding - the crisp, fresh egyptian cotton sheets and duvet covers are lovely at this time of year (bit chilly in winter tho' brrrrr)
    4. Homemade shepherd's pie and carrots for tea - the family are loving my home-cooked food. I get such earache now if I dare to serve up processed food.
    5. Homemade muffins - yummy

    Hope everyone is keeping well,
    luv Thrifty xxx
