Sparrer - hope you have a lovely holiday.

Blessings for the last couple of days.
    1. Going to a shop in Liverpool that a friend had told me about and finding some bargains, including a jacket for DH. He has been looking for ages and was very specific about what he wanted but they were always too expensive, managed to find one for £10 and it looks just as good as the others he had seen.
    2. In the same shop, got myself a pair of comfortable sandals for the summer about half the price they wanted in Clarks but just as comfortable.
    3. Dear friends coming to eat with us last night and both of their sons asking if they could come too because they love my food.
    4. The husband of my friend saying he knew puddings would be good as they are always homemade. Funny how I always feel a little conscious about what I cook for them as they are used to eating in very posh expensive restaurants including Michelin starred places that we have never even been in!
    5. The fantastic weather.
    6. Making some lemon curd with the egg yolks as one of the pudds that I made yesterday was a meringue based one. Before finding this thread, I would have thrown the yolks away - not any more.
    7. Making more of Bellaquidsin apple and mint chutney - we have finished what I made last weekend so doubled up this time. Thanks for the recipe Bella.
    8. Found an old yoghurt maker in my mum's kitchen cupboards a few weeks ago and asked if I could "borrow" it. She said I could have it as she couldn't remember buying or using it. When I finally got round to opening the box yesterday, it had never even been opened. What lovely yoghurt, don't think I will go back to supermarket ones now unless they are really cheap.
    9. Mr M had blueberries for £1 so bought some of these to go in above yoghurts.
    10. Catching up on other's pleasures for the past fews days.
    11. Sitting in the garden watching all the butterflies that are around at the moment.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend all.

Good afternoon thought I'd post early today as I've had lots of little pleasures whilst being in the garden all day (working, sadly, but I can sit tomorrow ;))

    1. The garden looks lovely now DH & I have done battle with the weeds :T

    2. I found a home for a little geranium that I was given for Mother's Day from DS3 & the dog - in an old metal watering can that I found whilst on a walk last year - it looks very happy in there.

    3. DD brought us a cup of tea out - without being asked!

    4. 3 loads of washing dry by 2pm.

    5. I've come in & thrown together a cheese & onion flan, new potatoes & a salad. Pre-MSE days I'd have rang for a pizza even though making everything only took me 15mins :money:

I hope that everyone has had lovely days too xxx

Hi Everyone, I'm back after a long weekend, not away, just here having far too many pleasures to post.

Here are the highlights of the weekend.

    1. Compressing h/work and baking into a small space, on Friday so that I could go up the Lickey Hills with DD and DGK's.

    2. So deliciously cool under the trees eating the hm afternoon tea DD had brought.

    3. Breakfast in the summer house with DH on Saturday.

    4. Getting garden all planted up - beans in, tomatoes in, so it's all get set and ready to grow.

    5. Lunch with SIL and family yesterday - wonderful not to have to cook it, and bliss sitting in their beautiful garden. Her DS is in horticulture and the garden looks like a park.

    Bella.

Good morning :hello: everybody - and what a beautiful morning it is too :)

    - Wtg SunnyGirl and OH - sounds like you two have had a great weekend gardening and 10/10 for resisting the pizza menu :T.
    - Great bargain-hunting shopndrop! (You weren't in TJ's by any chance were you? - that's where I find bargains on Clark's shoes). Have to admit to hating shopping in Liverpool - usually come back home with a headache. Clever find in mum's cupboard!
    - hope you have a good couple of days with your dm, Sparrer. Know what you mean about cleaning up before we go on holiday 'in case there's a fire' :rotfl:. I leave the house backwards, vacuuming as I go - how sad is that! - and it's never all that tidy when I'm at home :o. I can never believe how many people are in supermarkets in the middle of the night and take kids with them as well .
    - well done at the car booty, Blimus - a spending spree that resulted in a profit - that deserves a :T in my book!
    - sounds like a lovely family weekend in the garden julietiff :)
    - hi jollymummy - you sound like a woman after my own heart ;). Beggar the housework, it can wait till the book/nice weather are finished :rotfl:. Hope you enjoy your holiday cottage :).
    - I love watching the magpies as well, SunnyGirl - they are such characters, even though they tend to drive all the other birds out of the gardens. The ones around here used to torment Tiggy-tiger when he was trying to relax in the garden!
    - hi kiwi - congrats to your OH's friend and well done on the knitting :).

I've had a busy couple of days with dgs. It was his birthday on the day we came home from holiday and this was the first opportunity to take him for a treat/present.

    1. We finally settled on a sleeping bag for when he stays over at his dad's or mine, and a backpack/holdall set.
    2. Trip to McD's (where else with an 8yr old ) and managed to use one of my 'free coffee' vouchers for myself.
    3. OH mowed the front/side garden while dgs and I were out yesterday - today his hay fever is playing him up :(.
    4. Passed my old parish church yesterday afternoon and there was a 'Welcome to all' notice outside. Had a walk around the church with dgs who showed interest in various things inside and asked questions. Had a chat with a lovely lady and helped her to fold the table cloth from their after-service coffee session.
    5. Not very mse, but treated dgs and myself to ice creams from Thorntons - very yummy and well-deserved. The lovely assistant put an extra chocolate stick in dgs's!
    6. Lovely Ham'n'Turkey salad with crusty Tiger Bread at teat-time and dgs ate slices of peppers for the first time - mind you he didn't touch the lettuce at all!
    7. Took dgs back home around 8.00pm. His mother went to put the kettle on to make me a coffee, and then disaster struck. For some strange reason, the toilet cistern started to flood ! She had to have a plumber out - so we spent 2 hours continuously flushing the toilet until he arrived. Very nice young man, who fortunately didn't waste any time and was away within 20 minutes with everything 'back to normal' - whatever passes for normal at DD's house!

Praise the Lord, the weekend is now over and the days can get back to what passes for 'regular' life around here. Looking forward to sausage and fried onion mash for evening meal.

Hi bella - good to see you had a lovely, busy weekend :D!

Evening all, another fantastic day weather wise.

Newlywed - well done on the compliments for your bargain wedding outfit. Glad you are feeling brighter in yourself.
Reverbe - I also managed to get some bargain priced asparagus in Lidl. I don't like the stuff but OH does.
Olliebeak - it was TJ's. What a superb shop for bargains. I also hate shopping in Liverpool but will definitely go back over just to go to TJ's again, not bothered about the other shops in the city centre though as I always come home with a headache too. Wonder why?
Bellaquidsin - well done on getting your garden all planted up. It is so pleasurable seeing everything growing now and knowing that you will be eating it all in the not too distant future.
SunnyGirl - well done on not ringing for a pizza.

    Today's pleasures
    1. Yoga class this morning. Next week so long as the weather is still good, we will be having out class outside on the lawn.
    2. Visiting mum and dad and enjoying a natter and cup of tea.
    3. Walking to the local shops this afternoon (and enjoying it) instead of getting the car out.
    4. Eating tea outside as it was still so warm.
    5. Sitting chatting with OH for ages after we had finished eating our meal and enjoying watching all the birds in the garden.
    6. Just off outside now to water the veg plants, then an early bath and bed.
    Night all.

    1) Chatting with the mums whilst the boys were at Sports club.
    2) My friend being on top of the world because she's just met someone new.
    3) Finding a great pair of trainers for DS1 for only £11.99.
    4) The first BBQ of the year in our bargain Chimenea/BBQ.
    5) The boys splashing around in the paddling pool while DH did the BBQ.

    and as an extra

    6) My first attempt at the weekday Flylady challenge - my kitchen has never looked so clean! I'd forgotten how good it can actually feel to get some heavy-duty cleaning done.

Wishing everyone another great day tomorrow.
