    Hi all,

    OS pleasures for me today....

1 Homemade lunch of tuna salad (I wasn't looking forward to it, but it wasn't too bad!)
2 Using up the bacon and philly in the fridge for tea tonight (I waste very little now - used to be much worse)
3 Finding and applying for a really good job at Asda (not very OS, but I might get made redundant in a few weeks so its a bit of hope that there might be something else out there)
4 Walking the dog tonight - its lovely to see her bouncing around and its free exercise

    Thats me for today....

    Hi everyone
well my blessings are short but sweet today.
    1. spent a lovely moring with my friend and her two little boys and my DS in the garden.
    2. However, after they'd gone I fell down and thought I'd broken my ankle. DH drove home - a long way - to take me to A & E.
    3. It's a bad sprain not a break.
    4. At A and E for 2 hours and DS was an angel.
    5. My ankle is killing me, up on a cushion with a bag of frozen peas, but DH has Friday and Monday off work and my Mum has offered to come over and help out if i need her to next week.
Hey you have to really look for a clouds silver lining sometimes. While at hospital I thought it could be a lot worse. 7 years ago tomorrow my darling dad died and we were in hospital having to make the horrible decision to turn off his life support, so by comparison, today wasn't so bad.

    Hi all!

Guess what, a quick message from my cousins PC in Rome, and here are a few Italian pleasures!

1 - In the first place, making it here eventually after a long delay, more than 5 hours late.

2 - In the light of the above, I am grateful to my OS instincts for having stocked (in the station M&S, not so OS but never mind!) on pittas and sliced cheese, which served me well during the long hours in the train, including the unexpected lunchtime - the train was meant to be in Rome at 9 and we got here after 2pm!

3 - That there was only one other person in the sleeping carriage, a very pleasant English young man, we had a lot of space and his feet did not smell and he did not snore in the night, so I had a very good night sleep.

4 - Meeting my darling auntie this afternoon, always a fantastic pleasure and loads of laughter and fun!

5 - Courgette omelette courtesy of my auntie. Chock-a-block packed with delicious Roman courgettes, much sweeter than anywhere else in the world, am I biased or wot?

6 - Dinner and sleepover at my cousins, catching up with her little boy, great dinner and company.

7 - Almond granita! YUMMY! Never had before and a total discovery!

8 - Speaking with my mum on the phone and planning to go to Sardinia to see her tomorrow night.

9 - Finding tickets for ship to Sardinia, very expensive but I risked not finding any at all, due to a national holiday over the weekend.

So many more, but I need to stop here because I want to spend some time with my cousin before bedtime.

    Good night all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Jollymummy - poor you. Hope it feels better soon.
Caterina - Have a fab time in Rome. What a wonderful city!

Here are my 5 for today:
    1) Forced myself to fill in a load of annoying official forms and post them off - I dread doing them for so long but now they've been posted I feel the weight has lifted.
    2) We all went to Sheringham Park to see all the rhododendrons (sp?) out in bloom. DS1 moaned about going on a walk but both sons enjoyed themselves a lot.
    3) DS2's second tooth came out and he's looking forward to the tooth fairy's visit tonight.
    4) Over £50 under budget on my first grocery challenge.
    5) Cooked up some chilli con carne for 4 for the freezer and also a mince and veg pie for tonights tea, followed by hm apple cake. yum! :D

Hi chaps! Hugs to Newlywed and Jollymummy and anyone else under the weather.

    Speaking of which
    1) All the bedding dried for free on the washing line
    2) A walk into town to take something back to Boots for DD. As I was going in, I unexpectedly caught up with our elderly next-door-but-one neighbour and had a nice chat as we strolled along.
    3) DH standing and talking to the other set of neighbours after work.
    4) DS going to a music practice at church. I've been hoping they will both be invited to join in. Unfortunately, I am most unmusical, in a practical sense, so am no help at all.
    5) Leftover day so an interesting assortment of HM food for tea

Here we go with some OS good points

    1) Finding homes for my sisters surplus pepper plants among my colleagues and friends
    2) The lovely sunny weather this afternoon, and general warmth all day making me feel happy and boosting the spirits a bit
    3) Finding some more resolve to keep attempting the grocery challenges and general frugality.
    4) Using last night's leftover toad in the hole to make an interesting omelette tonight
    5) Making myself use up old beauty products instead of buying new ones with shiny packaging!

    Mine are today:

    1) Dried all bedding on line

    2) Made twinks hobnobs for first time (yummy!)

    3) Made sweet & sour chicken from left overs and store cupboard (no spend today - yippee)

    4) Started reading my Gladys Mann, 500 recipe on a low budget that came today (ebay 30p & P&P)

    5) Watching the homemade wine in demi johns bubbling away (7 demi johns which will make 35 bottles of wine) - not to mention that (not today but..) when I got the bananas the were reduced to 1p per pack so 5 bottles of banana wine worked out at 83p and the rhubard was free from garden so that was 81p for same amount.

Just about to go and make meed with OH, and going to take salmon out of freezer to make fishcakes for tea tomorrow! Before watch an episode of star trek original series (which OH has now got us all hooked on)

and last but not least reading through MSE forum
  • Was taken a bit poorly whilst out and couldn't crawl into bed when I got back as had agreed to be around for a soon-to-be-new-tenant to pick up a key to sort carpets out so one of those days when an effort to think of me five, but here goes :

    1) Free little cd/radio/tape player with speakers and remote control courtesy of a friend who is having a clear out. Works perfectly well and just right for the lounge.

    2) Trip out to a cheapie garden centre a few miles away courtesy of same kind friend. Got lots of bargains as they sell all sorts at mad prices - some cardmaking supplies, cheap ( artists ) paintbrush set and 12 teaspoons for £1 ! ( which I am very pleased about as the Spoon Fairy keeps spiriting mine away to Lost Utensil Land :P )

    3) very frugal day foodwise as due to feeling yucky, hardly ate anything, LOL !

    4) planting out three new herb plants from aforementioned cheapie garden centre : orange thyme, ginger mint ( yes I know, but I can't resist odd varieties of mint n thyme ) and curry plant, and enjoying the warm evening.

    5) sitting in my rocking chair in the kitchen with the door open, watching the sun go down and listening to bargain David Essex CD off eBay - I had a HUGE crush on the gent as a young'un and it made me feel very cheery !
