    my 5 for Thursday...

    1. Sorting out the boot of the car post car boot sale and finding 6 carrier bags, two cans of de-icer and 4(!) bottles of windscreen washer. Only one of each in there now, it's not saving a huge amount of weight but every little helps

    2. Washing out the wheelie bins. I used to pay a man £2 a month each to do them but with some hot water, bleach and the garden broom followed by a few drops of Zoflora I can do just as good a job, saving £48 a year :D

    3. Using the bath water on the garden as the water butt is empty  . Took the best part of an hour up and down the stairs with buckets but pleased that I saved some pennies by not using fresh water.

    4. Speaking to a neighbour while in the front garden, he has a push on shower in the bathroom which he finds perfectly good for showering. I'd thought there wouldn't be enough pressure but he told me there's an inexpensive one for low pressure, which I shall certainly look in to :D. I do like a shower and have missed having one since I moved here

    5. DS's friend phoned and is coming to look at the laptop again tomorrow, it's only 5 month old but takes up to 40 secs to open a page and closes itself down up to 8 times a day  . Moral - never buy expensive items on line no matter if the company does have a 'good reputation'

  • Hi everyone

Have been out of action for a few days as I've caught my usual winter cold. So here are my five:

    1. It was only a cold, with swine flu in the country, I find I have received lots of sidelong glances each time I coughed.

2.Ran out of brandy for hot toddys but discovered that whisky is a great substitute.

    3. Finished knitting OH's jersey and he really likes it.

    4. Also knitted another jersey for DGD, will post it next week. That's her third so far this autumn, so I'm doing really well.

    5. Bought myself an inkle loom, not very OS, but it does mean I'll be able to make some great woven tote bags etc.

    6. Oh has recovered from his latest crisis, (tore his stomach muscles after a fit of coughing), and he looks and feels better than he has for the last six months. Hopefully he can put his poor health behind him at last. He's feeling so much better he has just invested in a rowing machine to help regain his fitness levels.

Hope everyone finds lots of pleasures in their day.

    Blessings be

    Jennie

Morning  Let's see how I do with yesterday's adventures!

    1. Being so pleased my aches & pains are so mild in comparison to a lot of folk, particularly on here just now :o & sending Healing Thoughts to each & everyone of yooze!
    2. Managing to walk around the town without the need of a coat :jMeant I had to carry it, due to the ever-present grey skies, but was lovely to feel the sun all the same.
    3. Finding some little glass dishes--two long narrow ones & two unusually shaped glss mugs--in a charity shop. I'm making up an ice cream hamper for No1 offspring's birthday in a couple of weeks & wanted something to carry banana splits & fruit sundaes ;) & added bonus to help a charity in the process :D
    4. All three offspring accept & appreciate my thrifty ways, finding the humour behind said gifts. One year, I'd put us on a "healthy eating" regime & said No1 was sooo pleased when I handed over a white sliced loaf & half pound of butter complete with celebratory wrapping paper:rotfl:
    5. Taking my shoes off when I got home.....ab-soll-loot-lee wun-da-fuel...aaahhhhh:smileyhea

    Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;
loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Keep going Sparkly One you're doing fine. Newlywed
    - keep looking, don't forget the silver lining is behind the cloud. Jollymummy - you're in the wars aren't you. Steady up now girl. Sunnygirl £80 in the savings pot - well done. Caterina so pleased you are having a good time in Italy. BigMummaF your children's humour at your frugality reminded me of when mine were small and a group of us mum's used to sit in the playground waiting for the children to come out of school. One mum had done a fish meal the night before and her 5 year old son presented her with his fish bones arrayed around an otherwise empty plate with the words "Here you are mummy, for soup".

    My pleasure yesterday:-

    1. The sun shone.

    2. The garden looked beautiful.

    3. Caught up with the ironing.

    4. Lovely clean bedrooms.

    5. Yummy chicken curry for tea - the last of a chicken which had already done Roast dinner for 6 and 2 x lunches for the two of us and there's still soup to come.

    Better get a wriggle on.
    Bella.

    1. Breafast in the garden again.
    2. Mammogram check later. How lucky we are in this country to have this facility. After a false alarm some years ago, this is one check I'll be careful never to miss. It's worth a few seconds of discomfort.
    3. First flowers appearing on my potatoes in their containers.
    4. Lazy afternoon planned with a new book.

    1) Saving £20 on my car insurance, just for asking
    2) Saving £8.50 on a Pizza Express meal, courtesy of a voucher on this site
    3) Long walk with an old friend in the sun
    4) Watching DS stuffing a HM cake. We did an apple pie experiment once. I let him have as much as he wanted and he ate 3/4 of a 10" plate pie!
    5) Finding an old jacket in the coat cupboard and deciding that it still looks good.

    Friday blessings...

    1. After waking in the night and going downstairs for an hour, I slept in until 10 am...luverly

    2. Due to my night prowls, managed to get an extra load of washing in, taking even more advantage of Econ7.

    3. A beautiful morning, all washing hung out at 10.30 and dried by 12.30

    4. Postie brought me a letter from the Pension Service asking for details of my income - I think they hope to get more tax from me. Is this a blessing? Oh yes, when they see my statements they'll be paying me!

    5. A friend coming for supper this evening, and as she was leaving saying 'I do like coming here, it's so relaxed and I never feel uncomfortable or have to put on airs and graces with you'. I was thrilled to hear that, I'd feel terrible if she felt any other way

    Night night all, sweet dreams
