Good evening I trust that everyone is well? If not then please have a ((((((hug)))))) :A My 5 for today are:

    1. Lovely sunshine this afternoon.

    2. Having a real heart to heart chat with DS1 this afternoon.

    3. Helping DS3 pack for an activity weekend he's going on with school this Friday.

    4. Realising whilst packing that I had bought all of the stuff necessary well before this week with money saved from previous grocery challenges :money:

    5. My Dad went to the hospital this morning and has a date for the next angioplasty, 24th June, so he'll be hopefully fit & well again by August :j

I've had to work hard for my pleasures today, here they are:

    1. Ironing up to date.

    2. Windows cleaned.

    3. Kitchen cleaned.

    4. Cooker cleaned.

    5. Rhubarb chutney made.

    6. Seeds sown for next round of salad leaves.

    7. Cut back faded primroses in garden.

    8. Lemon curd made.

Bit greedy today really but it's such a pleasure now it's all done.

Hi :hello: everybody - phew! thank goodness the weather has cooled down a bit!! I'm definitely no good when the temperatures rise like they did last week.

    - loving the sound of the Strawberry Beer, Reverbe - never heard of that one before! Maybe I need to get out more :).
    - wtg on the outfit, newlywed! Well done on receiving your beads - do you use them for jewellery making?
    - what a wonderful way to spend time with your ds, huston - encouraging the next generation of gardeners :). The plus-side is that usually they'll eat what they've helped to grow, so stops them from being too faddy about what they'll eat.
    - I know there's a TJ's in St.Helens, shopndrop, but that's even further away from you. What about the one in Birkenhead, is that still there? The only time I bother with Liverpool is to go to El Kilos (Abakhan), Argos or to take one of the dgk's somewhere. What a lovely gesture from your friend (going out for a meal) and 10/10 for going for 'early doors menu' :j.
    - lovely to see roses so early, zarazara. Pls give your cat an extra stroke from me - really missing our Tiggy-tiger in this lovely weather - he adored the garden in hot weather and it's strange not seeing him lying in the sunshine!
    - isn't it great when we can see the kids playing well together, Blimus! and :drool: at the sound of that Vanilla Lemon Pannacotta!
    - mmmmm coffee and dessert, patchwork - brilliant treat when out and about - so much better than 'lunch'.
    - what a lovely family day out, angela - both sets of in-laws together :).
    - same thing happened to me with MY posting, BigMummaF - whole thing disappeared on me. Great news about your friend's test results :j. Loving the idea of your laundry bags :) - only two of us here and I use Asda SmartPrice swing-top kitchen bins (cream one for whites and silver/grey one for darks) - they just fit nicely side-by-side at the bottom of the linen cupboard.
    - oh nooooo, Bella - a new craft shop - how long do we leave it before sending in the search party for you :rotfl:?
    - isn't it great when the weather's like this, kids off school and they can make the most of the garden! - so often it's miserable weather when they're on half-term hols, SunnyGirl. Ironing, ironing? What's that - never heard of such a thing in my life :rotfl:! Hope your ds3 enjoys his activity weekend and that all goes well for your dad.
    - Oh noooooo, not another one with a fetish for this ironing, jollymummy! Hope that lovely bargain of a cossie matches the colour scheme of your ankle ;).
    - Flipping heck, Bella - don't you know how to relax, dear. Another one who's mentioning this ironing lark !

Well all this hot weather has made me 'fit for nothing' this week! (My excuse and I'm sticking to it.) OH is fed up with asking 'What's for tea (around 5.00pm) and getting told 'No idea!' And it's still 'No idea' at 8.00pm :rotfl:.

I've done very little indeed, but at least it hasn't cost me much either :D.

The transplanted seedlings are all settling down quite well and thriving so far - never done transplanting before so I'm quite chuffed with myself :). Even remembering to water them early morning and late evening.

Up-do-date with the laundry - all been washed and line-dried - even been able to line-dry some stuff for one of the tenants who's just come home from hospital with a mountain of stuff to be washed.

Had a visit from Calamity Jane (aka DD) with dgd2 yesterday. DD had dragged up the floor-covering from the bathroom floor (following Sunday's flood in there) and discovered that the tiles underneath had been affected as well and were sticking up. She's now in the process of prizing (sp?) them up before one of the kids gets hurt on them.

    1) My house is filled with the heady scent of elderflowers. This morning after voting (was able to vote Green on both ballot papers:j) I took my lovely Pashley Princess on a jaunt around the hedges and filled her basket with elderflowers. They are now steeping in a bowl ready to be made into elderflower cordial tomorrow.

    2) Exercising my democratic right- in spite of complete disillusionment with politicians:rolleyes:

    3) Walking to homebase to buy replacement cooker light-bulbs instead of driving. Saved money, the environment (well a tiny bit of it) and got some exercise.

    4) I turned out my daughter's room from top to bottom and it looks wonderful. I found several of her 'missing' belongings and I hardly threw anything away -hardly. Now if only I can get her to keep it tidy.

    5) Eldest son aged 13 has to take something from the Home Front to school next week and I am able to give him loads of facsimile cookbooks, numerous reproduction documents, two genuine ration books belonging to my dad and gran not to mention a link to a very interesting rationing experiment:D He also wants to bake something from one of my wartime books to share with his class :j
    6) Looking forward to making this for me and OH tonight- yum yum.

We just decanted ours a while ago. Our first attempt at Elderflower cordial and were sooo ecstatic at how it turned out. I think I'm going to make several more batches and freeze enough for us and for presents throughout the rest of the year.

    So, my pleasures start with...

    1) Our first attempt at Elderflower Cordial. I'm thinking of freezing some as ice cubes and slipping one in with a nice G&T _party_
    2) Visited our old neighbourhood and caught up with a couple of friends. Drove past our old house and that hated pub opposite and felt so glad to be out in the peaceful countryside away from shouty sweary drunkards!
    3) DH made a nice casserole for us all and it was ready when we got home.
    4) Looking forward to our Barcelona trip next week.
    5) And finally - completely NOT OS and my most guiltiest and shameful of all pleasures - Big Brother starting tonight. :o *Quickly runs out of the thread before I get kicked out* :o

    1. Overseas friend arriving to stay for a few days.
    2. First major picking from the strawberry bed - enough for desserts for three people and a bag filled for the freezer.
    3. Being sufficiently eagle-eyed to spot a large number of caterpillers on my kohl rabi plants and sending them to a grizzley end before they did too much damage. Now realise I have to be on daily guard duty.
    4. Being able to exercise my democratic right to vote, even though none of the options particularly appeal at the moment in the light of the current political situation.
    5. OH winning £25 premium bond prize.
