    A catch-up from me:
    1. Visit to Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Kent - National Trust Property, former home of Vita Sackville West. Wonderful to see what's in flower between Spring and Summer. The perfume from the azalea walk was wonderful, and reassuring to see lots of bees on the blossoms and flowering herbs.
    2. Feeling smug, after visiting the new vegetable garden being created there to see that my vegetable seedlings look in better conditions than theirs, although mine are not suffering from the wind buffeting that was blasting across the field where they're being grown and the horrible heavy clay they seem to have.
    3. The first flowers appearing on 2 of my Tumbling tomato plants.
    4. Won £25 in the May Premium Bond Draw. Should I donate it to the MP's Hardship Fund I wonder ?? Looks like some of them may need it after the next General Election.:rotfl:
    5. Regular daily visits to garden from 3 wild ducks. Bit of a mixed blessing actually as although they're becoming more friendly, they keep invading my vegetable patch and trampling down my young growing plants.

I very rarely get to read let alone post on MSE these days but I do love this thread and would hate to see it slowly die off so I'm doing my bit. :D

    1. Making apple crumble with the free apples I was given by former boss last year.
    2. Making DS's favourite dinner - hm chilli with YS mince, YS mushrooms and YS peppers. ;) He has a GCSE today so I want to spoil him a little.
    3. Having more room in the freezer due to making the above dishes. :T
    4. Making some more hm meals to fill up the free space in the freezer.
    5. Paying the money from my terramundi into the bank today. That's our holiday spending money taken care of. :T
    6. Getting the very last assignment for my arts course to the point where I only need to trim a few words here and there to make the word count.

    My 5 today are:
    • Making a pasta bake tonight, all my veggies are slightly grim looking so if I bung them together with oodles of pasta and bung a ton of cheese on top, they go from sad old useless veggies to a hearty filling meal that my DH thinks is awesome – will probably have some left over for lunch tomorrow which is better than sandwiches in my opinion
    • Gonna send of an email to BHWT charity (battery hen welfare trust) we got 4 ex batts in February and love love love them! Not only are they fully fledged members of the family but theyre hilarious, loving and give us enough eggs to enjoy and sell the surplus with friends and family! Its very addictive and now we want 4 more!
    • Finally getting rid of the ugly blue wendy house we inherited with the house, its so dilapidated but is currently used to house all the family junk, but I told OH we have to clear it to make room for the bigger chicken coop we will need!! Cant wait to see it fall to the ground – giant ugly monster it is!
    • Looking forward to going to London in 2 weeks, going to watch England play 20/20 world cup at lords – im a new convert to cricket but am really looking forward to it and managed to convince husband to stay overnight and see the sights of London!
    • Prospect of 4 day weekend with the bank holiday approaching! Hope the weather is nice so I can bask in the sun with a book and a glass of wine!
    • Happy cos my younger brother is happily installed in a new flat – I helped him move and he’s really chuffed with it all. Its warming to know I helped him when he probably couldn’t have done it by himself
    • Gonna treat myself to a head massage for being such an awesome sister! I promised myself I would have one before the move and I took up my whole weekend so I deserve it!

    Have a lovely day everyone!

Sparrer - I am sure no-one would think you were hogging the forum. It is good to read other's pleasures in life. When I first came across this thread, all I could see was the negative stuff in life, then reading through realised that there were pleasures in my life, although quite simple ones that I probably didn't appreciate at the time.
Really pleased to see so many more posts again. Bellaquidsin - I was concerned in case this thread died through lack of posts too.
Reverbe - I would love to know how you manage to get some many freebies - mine are only ever very small things, nothing like the goodies you seem to get.
    Mine today:
    1. Seeing this thread with lots of postings again.
    2. Actually managing to take my lunch hour at work I am always so busy and rarely take a break but have decided that I deserve the time for me and felt so much better this afternoon.
    3. Getting some half price birthday cards at lunchtime as a new card shop has opened opposite the old one and they had some super offers on.
    4. Found a HM lasagne in the freezer when I sorted it at the weekend so no cooking tonight, just needs heating up.

we just spent a lovely weekend with my mum, so lots of pleasures and blessings to add :D

    1) Spending the weekend with my mum - always a pleasure.
    2) Having a meet-up with friends and their children before we left for Mums. Rain didn't stop play!
    3) IKEA! Haven't been for over a year and so we picked up a few small bits and pieces. But perhaps more fun was scoffing 45p hot dogs with refill drinks and 35p ice creams!
    4) Me and Mum buying cheap veg plants from the car boot sale. Pleased to say that my mum has now seen the light - she bought two huge fuschia hanging baskets for less than half the price that they were selling them at the her local garden centre for. I also bought a fantastic rustic home-made trough for £2.50. A nice home for the pak choi.
    5) My sister and her family coming over to my mums for tea. She's really not been feeling well so I'm hoping that it's nothing too serious (especially as we lost our older sister to Leukaemia last year).
    6) My mum packing us up with lots of leftover food to take home with us. We always leave hers with far more than we bought with us.
    7) Giant Turkey-leg casserole in the oven for tea (after I've posted this).
    8) Followed by pear cake which I made earlier.
    9) The new Jodi Picoult novel.
    10) It's nice to be home as well as having a nice weekend away.

    Good evening everyone.

Sorry I haven't been posting recently but it's been busy busy here. We had DD's & DS1's birthdays last week, hospital appointments, school stuff and the children have all been pretty vile too  :o especially over the weekend. Just normal teenage stuff but it gets wearing when there's three of them at it.

My five for the last couple of days are:

    1. Reading a very good book all about vampire & demon slaying :D:D No it's not Buffy or Angel ;)

    2. Laughing at the dog who won't lay on the patio but sits on one of the garden chairs

    3. Seeing my Dad and walking to a farm shop with him about half a mile uphill from their house.

    4. A hot bubble bath before Desperate Housewives on Sunday.

    5. Making Twinks homemade hobnobs with cranberries and cinnamon in.

Blessings to everyone & (((((hugs))))) where needed I'll catch up with the thread shortly xxx

    Today's 5 small pleasures.

    1) pegging out the washing on a perfect drying day - warm, sunny and breezy ! ( for some reason I love pegging it out but hate taking it back in, lol )

    2) spending some time happily contemplating my newly tidy back yard garden - not thanks to lazy bum me but to the sterling efforts of a friend's husband who is just starting up a little gardening business and worked wonders with the Yard of Shame - including getting my water feature cleaned up and working properly for the first time in 2 years !

    3) bargain time at the local shops - couple of packs of really nice hair scrunchies for £1 each at the local chemist when they go for about £3-4 a pack at somewhere like Boots, cheap and reduced veggies at the veg shop and co op which will keep me going for a week, big bunch of lovely flowers reduced to 50p at the green grocers so I treated myself.

    4) making a huge dish of HM cauliflower cheese, baked spuds/tomatoes & salad for dinner, again will last me a few days and I made use of every inch of oven space !

    5) sitting in the kitchen after dinner watching the sun go down and listening to music, and it being not-too-cold enough to have the back door open whilst doing so.

  • Hi everyone

Sorry haven't posted for a few days, life has been hectic here, so I'm taking time out to read and smile at everyones pleasures.
    so mine are:

    1. Its blowing a gale, predicted to be the coldest day of the year, so the roofers won't come today, which means lots of peace and quiet.

    2. I WILL finish littlest granddaughters new knitted jersey.

    3. Planning a trip to the beautiful Wairarapa on Friday with OH. Only a day trip and half business half pleasure, but haven't been there for a couple of years.

    4. Its cold enough to light the fire.

    5. Dog just came and gave me a big cuddle. (She was rescued from a situation where she was abused for a long time, and it took her a couple of years to trust us) Now she is very loving towards Oh and me, but still dislikes the rest of mankind - and the cat!

    Blessings be

    Jennie
