Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Evening all, just sat down after a hectic day - I was only away for 8 days but doesn't the backlog build up if you don't keep on top of it?!
Thursday blessings...
1. Managed to get appts with bank and GP on the days and times I asked for next week :j
2. Statements re my increased pensions for 09/10, I'd be £17 a month better off if I didn't have to pay the extra tax
3. Made 2 humungous moussakas, ingedients included Mr A's YS cream, potatoes and fresh tomatoes. One for DSiL and DGD2 who both love it and will get theirs tomorrow, and one for young lodger and me for dinner this evening. He seemed to enjoy it, ate it all, but not had it before so hadn't got anything to comapre it with. I just hope he doesn't have the real thing before he leaves me!
4. DD agreed to have the dog, yet again, when I go away in July. He's hers really, only came to stay with me til she could find a more permanent home for him as the others were picking on him....that was 3 years ago
5. Planted chives and lettuce, with thanks to the Freebie forum. Am now toddling off to the green fingered forum to find out what I do with the tumbelina tomatoes, again thank you Freebie forum, now they're struggling to get out of their first planter
Night night, God bless and sweet dreams

- welcome back, sparrer - sorry to hear your holiday wasn't quite up to expectations - but sounds as though your return has been good :j with freebies, flowers doing well, AND money in your pocket for car tax
- I never come back home with anything in my pocket
and good luck for your new kitchen - I love mine
.
- well done bella - home-made jam/marmalade/lemon curd/soup
- it's great to see our kids/grandkids making progress blimus- especially if it's something that we struggled with. Both of my sons went through the cubs/scouts and loved it - first time the youngest one went 'to camp' he scared the others by sleep-walking around the scout hut :rotfl:. Still does it now when stressed or excited about something and he's 30!
- well done on the cook book, kitty.
- :T on the line of real nappies, Orkney - one of the best sights in the world.
- sounds like a great family day in the garden, jollymummy. I love it when my DD visits with the grandkids on a nice day so we can spend time outdoors and they can run themselves ragged around the lawn
.
- hi wmf :hello:- I'd heard about Year of the Homecoming - lots of events have been advertised. FW always feels like 'homecoming' for me (been going there for about 12 years!) - I get the goosebumps when we cross the Ballachulish Bridge cos I know we don't have far to go then :j.
- well done on adapting the curtains, patchwork - gives a good sense of achievement doesn't it.
- hi english rose - I managed to get mine washed and dried outdoors as well - love avoiding using the dryer.
- well done zarazara - great will-power there :T
1. Only 2 more sleeps to go :j:j - so far I've packed my make-up box, a medicine box (with midgie repellant ) and kitchen roll/clingfilm/tinfoil (all half rolls!). Talk about getting my priorities straight - no clothes sorted yet :rotfl:!
2. Quiet day in work today - unfortunately we had a funeral which always makes the tenants very subdued - though once the drinks started flowing, there were lots of stories about the gent concerned.
3. Jacket pots, baked beans and turkey sausages for evening meal tonight - not much left in the fridge now.
4. Planning on making 2 lemon drizzle cakes tomorrow (to use up some eggs) and some leek and potato soup (the leeks are looking quite sorry for themselves)
5. Found a slightly out of date bag of cheese and onion crisps in the cupboard - so crisp butty for supper in a few minutes :rotfl:.
Hope we all have a good night's sleep - nitey nite all  - love Ollie xxx0 -
Olliebeak - I hope you have a wonderful holiday and manage to find lots of whoopsies up there.
Well done to all you hard working OS'sers and thanks to you all for the inspiration and encouragement you give me.
I didn't seem to achieve a great number of things yesterday as the first one took up a great chunk of my day, but here are my five:-
1. Finally finishing and handing over the two cardigans I've been knitting for my DGD.
2. Cleaning upstairs, not my favourite job but it's nice when it's done.
3. A far nicer day than had been forecast.
4. A mini potter in the garden.
5. Clean sheets to get into.

1) DD's May Ball this evening and her bf came around with a bunch of flowers. Aww
2) DS's friend is round here again. I swear I'll end up adopting him. He's a lovely lad and he's promised to mow my lawn for £5 as he's saving up for some kind of mega school trip
3) Seem to have nearly finished the OU essay. I can write in any style you like except logically ...
4) Going for drinks and nibbles at a friend's house so that we can see our girls off into the limosine together. Posh frock or not? Can't compete with the belles
5) Have had house to myself all day. Bliss (but not for too long, otherwise it's boring)0 -
1. Toasted homemade seeded bread with banana for breakfast.
2. The sun shining onto two tiny rabbits nibbling grass at the roadside.
3. Smiling happy people in the office.
4. Chocolate.
5. Feeling slimmer. (not sure how that goes with number 4, but let's not question - eh?)0 -
Well here goes for my five in the hope it makes me feel better after the plumber bailed and left me with nothing to do for the two days he was supposed to be here.
1. Full day with the boys.
2. Picking lettuce from the garden for lunch.
3. DS1 likes salad now!!
4. Mum made a fantastic new potato, fennel and parmeggian bake.
5. Channel 5 is fab on fridays all my fav programmes and off to get myself some biscuits and milk.
Hope tomorrow is nice really need in to the garden.
Hugs to all that need them xxAlthough I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:

Hi all
Again, quite a few days without posting, so many posts all at once, blessings in no particular order:
1 - Coming home and finding that DS and his friend had made biscuits - and they were delicious!
2 - Freebie Clarins balm at Selfridges as part of their 100th birthday anniversary (and more freebies to come, by bringing a page from Grazia, every Thursday between 6 and 9 pm - for anyone in London who is interested in going, let me know and we can queue for freebies together!)
3 - Freebie from Swarowski crystals, courtesy of another OSer who sent me her invite to the event as she could not go.
4 - A weird one, this one. I got fined £20 for not having a full ticket, was going to pay the remainder at arrival but the (horrid) inspector just fined me even though I was NOT trying to evade the fare. Well, what's pleasurable in that? Not really a pleasure but because I have been less-than-honest in other occasions, actually evading the odd fare, it just brought back home the concept of Karma and made me think about honesty etc...I know, weird, but it really gave me a wake-up call.
5 - All my family and cats, each and everyone of them is so lovely, every time I see any of them I feel great avalanches of love. Yes for the cats too, of course!
6 - Still getting a few hours doulaing here and there, which compensates for the reduction in working hours.
7 - Still getting the odd Italian class (as above).
8 - 2 for 1 felafel at Mr S, reduced roasted peppers, basic hummus (even tastier than the fancy one!), special offer pitta breads, homemade salsa. What a lovely dinner we had tonight!
9 - DD is always very helpful and kind, never refuses to give me a hand and is really starting taking pride in our home.
10 - DD's BF is also very nice and a true pleasure to have around, especially since he lost his shyness with me and now he speaks and laughs, he feels like really one of the family!
This is it for now.
Sending hugs and warm thoughts to all of you who need them.
Good night to all of you, great people. xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Lovely to read everyone's blessings and pleasures.
Here are my 5 for today:
1. Lovely greeting from my doggies when I got in from work - waggy tails and big smiles.
2. Nice chat with DD on the phone - I will sooo enjoy living near her when we move
3. A student getting to grips with the suffix 'ly'. I love it when something clicks.
4. Tasty ham, cheese and salad sandwiches for lunch made by DH.
5. Frugal tea of omelettes with extra bits to use up, potatoes, cabbage and green beans from veggie box.
Off to bed with a library book (oh - 6th one - my weekly trip to the library!)
