Five OS Pleasures in your day today

-
Hi folks :hello: - hope we've all had a good OS/MoneySaving Sunday
.
(((((hugs))))) for Newlywed and Sunnygirl - and prayers for both your dads.
- woke this morning to a beautiful day but really strong winds. Managed to do three loads of laundry and left OH's jeans on the whirlygig all day.
- went to Brantano to have a look at their shoes. Found a pair of Clark's mules with a bit of a heel for £35, so had to put £5 to my vouchers. Wouldn't have even thought of paying that much without the vouchers.
- treated myself to a lovely coffee in Tescos - then found three vouchers for free coffees at McD's in the back of my purse .
- the Turkey and Mixed Bean Chilli went down a treat, even if my hand did slip a little with the paprika/chilli/cayenne .
- collected DGS1 from DD on my way back home. He's in his jim-jams ready for bed shortly - the eyes already look to be asleep even if the brain hasn't quite got there.
- phone call from DC (darling cousin) in the US - had a lovely chat :j. She's got 'another man' in her life at the moment, so it's all 'what do you think?'; 'do you think he likes me?'; 'should I tell him I'm twice-divorced?' Thank goodness that's one set of emotions I don't need to be going through. Don't think my blood pressure could cope with all that angst these days! I'll stick with the one I've got, thank you very much. It's 8yrs since we met up - perhaps due for another meeting soon, if the pennies allow for it.
I need to get myself sorted for tomorrow's outing with DGS1 - so need to settle on a destination/venue according to weather forecast- hope it stays reasonably fine. So off to 'google' what's on locally
.
Nitey nite to one and all - love Ollie xxx0 -
Good evening everyone & thanks for your good wishes & prayers for my Dad :A My 5 pleasures for today, in no particular order, are:
1. Getting the vertical blinds & curtains down in the living room & washing them :T
2. Seeing my Dad looking better after a nights sleep, helped by a kind nurse suggesting he had a mild sedative last night.
3. Leaving Mum & Dad on their own for half an hour whilst I had a wander around the hospital.
4. Having a lovely lemon roast chicken, new pots & salad for lunch & lots of chicken left for sandwiches for tea :money:
5. Watching 'Friends' with the children & laughing even though I've seen them a million times
And an extra one - All the support that lovely people on here offer :kisses3:
I am going for a bath now & to slather my dry hands in a lovely smelling hand cream whilst I watch the tv tonight. Pleasant dreams everyone & blessings aplenty to you all xxx0 -
Hi there folks. Hope you are all having a good weekend.
Had a nice day with the kids today and the thought of no work tomorrow....well it's amazing!!!
1. Playing the Wii with the kids and realising how bright they are and how proud I am of all the little things they do.
2. The boys loving twinks hobnobs that we made together yesterday.
3. Shopping trip to Morrisons with my mum and no one else with us. We never do anything ourselves anymore.
4. Dad taking the boys to the park and them having a great time. Especially after going to the cornershop with him and both getting a magazine and sweets.
5. Planting out some of my seedlings and realsing how relaxing the gardening is for me.
Sunnygirl - Hope your dad is getting better.
Hope you all have a good Bank holiday xxAlthough I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:
Fear is a disease....Hope is it's only cure!0 -
Oh dear, the weather doesn't look too promising this morning - the rain, that was forecast for us, has arrived
.
So the first blessing of the day is - I won't have to water any of the young plants as they're in tubs/troughs around the patio area and the rain has already got them all.
I've already got the evening meal underway - Scouse in the Slow Cooker  - so there's my second blessing!
Third blessing of the day - my little 'toothless wonder' (DGS1 not OH :rotfl: ) has woken up and immediately come for cuddles. Please God that this continues a little longer - he's 8 in two weeks, so doubt it very much. After all the shenanigans a couple of weeks ago over his front teeth, he had an accident while trampolining at his friend's house. His face had an argument with his friend's knee - so now one of those front teeth has broken on a diagonal! How on earth he managed to hit it hard enough to break it, while it remained 'in situ', the Good Lord alone knows
! The edge is as sharp as a knife - so another trip to dentist is called for asap to see if it can be capped - meanwhile he's confined to indoor play (but that's how it all started in the first place !!)
My fourth blessing - all yesterday's laundry is dried - mostly overnight on airer/radiator rails (but no heat on) - so DS1 will be going back home with clean clothes in his bag.
Not bad going - four blessings by 8.00am on a rainy Bank Holiday morning! See if I've got any more by this evening
.
Hope you all have a great day - however you choose to spend it . love Ollie xxx0 -

Hugs to all that need them
My five:- Still not dressed at 10am and no pressure to get up and do anything today.
- Having my mum round for tea last night and doing a (rather cold and windy) BBQ.
- Having lots of yummy leftovers from said BBQ yesterday so minimum cooking for me today.
- Having fetched tons of rhuabarb from my allotment on Saturday realsiing how lucky I am to have this fantastic space to myself to grow whatever I fancy and save me some cash!
- Having some new fish and a new filter in my tank. Wasn't expensive and the fish seem a little bit happier. I find them very relaxing to watch.

Grey day here, but wanted to extend the warmth of feeling and understanding always generously present on this Thread to newlywed and sunnygirl.
You will walk with me along a country road today to England's oldest Fair - Reach - , v. gently old-fashioned, yet full of life and affirmation. There will be the evocative scent of cow parsley, smiles and courtesies exchanged with other walkers, skylark song, probably showers, gentle pursuits and the certainty that there are good people and good things to know...as I say, because you will be in my thoughts, these will all be yours, too.
Take comfort - B

2) A huge box of plant pots and hanging baskets from Freecycle.
3) Whilst driving to the village to get the box of pots we found a lovely area where we hadn't visited before with some lovely woodland walks. Made a note to re-visit and explore soon.
4) The first mowing of the lawn this year.
5) Potatoes being grown in tubs and bags are starting to sprout through the soil :j
