Hope you are all having a nice day xx

Hello :hello: everybody - I've been having problems with t'internet connection this week. Sometimes it worked and then cut out; and sometimes it just didn't work at all .

I have really missed all you guys and haven't had chance to catch up with what you've all been up to  and blessed with :j. I need to go and do something at the moment, but in true Arnie-style - I'll be back ;).

speak again later - love Ollie xxx
  • Hi everyone
    My five for yesterday.

    1. It was cold enough to light the woodburner.

    2. It was cold enough to stay inside with a book and not feel guilty about the garden. However today is beautiful and sunny so I will have to catch up on all those neglected chores.

    3. The beach has changed in the time that we were away, we live on a coastline that is in a constant state of moving sand dunes. It was interesting to see how far the river has moved in such a short time.

    4. Despite the shortening days, the chickens are still happily laying.

    5. Started this morning with a luxurious soak in the spa, now feeling totally relaxed.

    Blessings be

    Jennie

Wow, a couple of days of not posting and we've acquired some more posters :j - welcome to you all :hello:.

I've had a quick read through everybody's posts and can see you've all been busy with blessings galore :) - but there's absolutely no chance of me being able to mention everybody this post ;)!

.......... but I do want to say 'what wonderful news' to kiwiblue :T. You and OH must be both so relieved at that news. Enjoy your trip around the island - methinks it sounds like 'second honeymoon time' for you two ;).

(((((((hugs))))))) for all who need them (or just want one) and whoopdedoo  for all with reasons to celebrate!

Have collected some blessings during the past week:

    - my tenants in work have mostly been good - not had to threaten any with the 'tunnel' to the 'Nursing Home next-door' during the past week anyway ;). (That is a standing-joke by the way - the only ones who get threatened with the 'tunnel', are the ones who are young/fit enough to give me the run-around!)
    - DD (Calamity Jane) has finally got her benefits sorted out though still struggling to prove that her ex is no longer with her for Council Tax reasons - his mother has denied to the CT people that he's moved back home! She obviously doesn't want to lose her 25% single person discount !!!
    - living out of the fridge/freezers this week as we're going on holiday next saturday - only '7 more sleeps' to go. I want to be able to give the fridge a good 'clean-out' on Friday and leave some bicarb in it while away :).
    - finally had my competency review in work this week - everything came out at a 2rising3 - don't think anybody actually gets a 3, as that would leave you with nothing to aim for! (Obviously my 'Coffee and Lemon Drizzle Cake ploy' went down well with my Line Manager .)
    - seedlings are coming along nicely - will need to transfer some into troughs as they're now big enough to handly safely :).
    - Liver, onions, mashed pots, carrots and 'mangey tuts' for evening meal tonight - absolutely delish
-remembered to take some diced turkey out of the freezer for tomorrow and also put some dried mixed beans to soak. Turkey and Mixed Bean Chilli for tomorrow evening with pasta and garlic bread.
-remembered that I've still got £30 of vouchers to use up - may visit Brantano tomorrow to see if they've got some sandals for my hols next week. Thank heavens that somewhere has a good assortment of size 9's :T!
    - think I'll need to make some Leek and Potato Soup tomorrow as I've got lots of leeks sitting in the fridge plus half a bag of 'sprouting spuds' in the cupboard :(. No chance of using them up before next weekend any other way.
    - and one final blessing, getting my internet connection sorted out earlier today :j. Somebody, who shall remain nameless (but masquerades under the pseudonym of 'the toothless wonder'/dgs1), had been messing about. He has some degree of 'special needs', is fascinated by wiring and somehow caused a dodgey connection whilst fiddling with my wiring connection. Luckily DS1 dragged out my fridge/freezer and got to the source of the problem. He does have some uses after all ;).

Hope we all have a really good night's sleep - I'm ready for my bed now. Nitey nite all  - love Ollie xxx

    Morning all:j
    Goodness, you've all been busy!
    Kiwiblue - that's great news:T
ampersand - loved the 'poem' - so true.

    Blessings for yesterday:
    1. Thanks to Flylady, starting the Bank Holiday weekend with a tidy house, an empty laundry basket and all the meals planned for the next week:T
    2. Went house-hunting and drove through parts of the county I never knew existed! (Think I've found our next house too:T)
    3. Viewed one house that was 'show room' tidy - I was asked to take my shoes off before entering:eek: Came home and thanked the good Lord that ours is a lived-in, country-style house with kids, dogs, cats, wellyboots, home-baked bread, throws-on-the-sofas type of house:o
    4. Woke early enough to lie-in listening to the dawn chorus
    5. Egg and bacon breakfast - a real treat:D

Weather this morning is not looking too good here. The sun is trying to break through, but those clouds look awfully grey and heavy. However, the garden could do with some rain, so a blessing today either way:rolleyes:

Enjoy your day, whatever you are doing

    Hello Everyone,

I've not been around too much as my Dad was rushed into hospital, again, on Thurday evening. He was having severe chest pains again and breathlessness. He is now in the coronary care unit and is having an angiogram then angioplasty or by-pass surgery as appropriate on Tuesday at Manchester Royal Infirmary. He is not having pain now as he is being pumped full of various drugs & blood thinners and on a 24hr monitor. Mum & I are visiting for short periods every day as he gets tired. The doctors think that the stroke he had earlier in the year has damaged the heart muscle or arteries in some way as he had no problems at all before it and could happily walk for 6 - 8 miles. He struggles now to put the wheelie bins down the driveway. I'm keeping Mum going & insisting that she eats her lunch here most days so that she is as fit & well as she can be.

Kiwi Blue - Such good news for your DH :T you must be both so relieved.

Olliebeak - Good to see you back. My DS2 has always had 'inquisitive' fingers ;) My favourite saying to him has always been ' Do you have eyeballs in the end of your fingers?' :rotfl: He is still the same at nearly 15

    Newly Wed ((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) to you.

Hugs & welcomes to anyone else who needs them.

My five for the last few days are:

    1. The NHS. We moan about them at times but what a truly wonderful bunch of dedicated people they are :A when we really need them.

    2. My DH & children are all trying so hard to help me so that I can help my parents.

    3. Being complimented on my childrens table manners by a friend of Mum's yesterday lunchtime :T (All the nagging was worth it then ;))

    4. Realising that my Mum is a strong Yorkshire woman with a determination inside her that has surprised me.

    5. Laughing at the dog who continues to be a loony & play bows to the cats on a regular basis - who just look at him as though he is mad :rotfl:

Blessings to everyone for an enjoyable Sunday xx

    Hi all

Again a few days without posting, this is (peculiarly) going to be incorporated in my pleasures - bear with me a mo'!

1 - One of the pleasures when coming back after a few days offline is to read the posts and find that other OSers are well and enjoying life, it is great to see Ampersand and Olliebeak post again, but I am sure you will all agree that, on this occasion, the greatest pleasure was to read the wonderful news of Kiwiblue's DH! I am so very pleased for you both! Your good news really made my day.

2 - The weather has been very good recently and has helped my mood lift.

3 - Because my mood is so much better I haven't been online quite as much but out and about much more doing things and enjoying myself (hence my intro to this post!).

4 - Bank Holiday weekend, lovely time with DH while the kids are away here and there, wherever teenagers go!

5 - Almost all the beans we planted in the pots are ready to transplant, more will come up I am sure.

6 - Found pak choi seeds in Sainsburys today.

7 - Very NOT OS but the other day I bought myself a designer dress - this is a dress I wanted for a long time, it is by a designer who really knows how to cut for the curvier figure, it is a wrap dress and made of fav fabric AND I got 25% discount because it was a special shop event (20%) and a little bit was unstitched (asked and received an extra 5% off). Now I shall have to wear it a lot during the summer months to bring the cost-per-wear to a minimum!

8 - Found very good quality eco-shoes in the sales, I needed them so this is not a "treat" really - but buying shoes is always a pleasure - unless you have ingrown nails that is :rotfl:

9 - Saisbury asparagus and spinach down to 50p, grapes down to £1. Nice healthy shopping done and not much spent today.

10 - Anticipating the pleasure of dinner with DH tonight, wild salmon (from the 2 eat for £10 M&S offer) with sauteed asparagus, roasted sweet potato and tomato salad with fresh parsley.

Bye all, what a good day this has been! xxx

Edited to say: after re-reading the last few posts with more attention I wanted to add:

Newlywed: I am so sorry about your dad (((HUGS)))

Sunnygirl: I hope your dad will be fine soon, best wishes for a speedy recover.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Hi chaps. A hug to Newlywed and Sunnygirl before I write anything else.

    1) Finding a bright green T shirt and jumper in the charity shop. I've fallen in love with this colour and I'm so grateful to all those women who do donate what they don't want anymore.
    2) Surely the very last birthday present for this year arriving on Saturday - Delia's Frugal Food from my brother. Then he rang up and said it was cheaper than he had expected and would I like anything else? I said no, thank you
    3) Big family meal at lunchtime - whoopsied free range roast chicken dinner with rhubarb sponge afterwards (idea from the OS forum) from our own rhubarb
    4) Nipped down to the allotment to fetch a spade (I used to have two. Where do they go?) and finding that the potatoes are sprouting nicely.
    5) Coffee with DH this afternoon and a lovely chat, just the two of us

Have a lovely day tomorrow, if possible
