Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Happy Birthday to Lillibet for Wednesday, if I'm not around (big finance meeting at work so may not be)
Ours for the last few days are
1) Walk in the local woods. The bluebells are out and the colour is intense. There were mossy rocks, anenomes and kingcups, which I had never seen before. We also heard a woodpecker. Absolutely lovely
2) Lots of time spent in the garden, tidying up. DH decimated some bushes (which were past their best) and relaid some slabs that were lying around so that we could put our old bench in the best spot. Very OS
3) Apple tree sapling (possibly) and brambles found in garden
4) Cake from DDs boyfriend's Mum.
5) Friend's 50th birthday party on Saturday. A happy evening in the church hall with home made food and live music from a jazz group. DD and bf sang a couple of songs.0 -
Hello everyone, I've not posted for a while and haven't had a chance to catch up but felt the urge to post today to celebrate my birthday
My pleasures are:
1. Finding £10 this morning in a library book I was just about to take back - I think I must have used it as a bookmark or something....anyway, have put it in my sealed pot, so I know it now has at least £20 in there
2. DD singing me happy birthday at least 3 times before we left the house
3. Making a batch of Twinks Hobnobs for my colleagues before work, gaining the admiration of the team both for my culinary skills and for having the time and energy to bake before 8:30am!!Also receiving nice cards and emails from colleagues.
4. Having the energy to have a really good swim at lunchtime
5. Coming home to discover my parents had driven down and left my birthday presents on the kitchen table!! It's nearly 2 hours each way, what lovely people. I was wondering if I'd get home to a birthday card in the post, but to come home to lovely presents and cards was such an amazing surprise
6. DD and I putting on our party dresses and having a picnic dinner in the lounge whilst watching one of her favourite DVDs
I feel truly blessed today.0 -
Hi all
Not been online for a few days so will put a few more blessings, in no particular order, that have occurred in the last few days.
1 - Two Costa coffee tickets for free coffee through the post (courtesy of an old newspaper subscription that still sends me the offers even though I have cancelled the paper!)
2 - Model haircolour at Aveda, wonderful experience, they did a great job of my multicolour hair and it looks like a million dollars, all for the price of £15!!!
3 - Every day one or two beans are raising their little heads from the pots, soon to be planted in the garden.
4 - DS has been so lovely to me, the other day he just came up to my bedroom to give me a hug and thank me for the breakfast pancakes. I am so delighted!
5 - DD is always kind and wonderful to me - now she is waiting for me to go and give her a cuddle before bed, which I shall do as soon as I have typed this list.
Good night all! xxx
Quickly edited to say: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KITTIKINS!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Morning all:j
Kittikins - happy birthday for yesterday
OS pleasures yesterday:
Got a call from estate agent to say that, like buses, he had two viewers come along to see my house and could I take them at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
House looked lovely - a dull, cold evening so we lit all the candles, had the heating on and put all the garden lights on. 1st viewer coming back today for a second look. Her parting words were 'don't sell it it the 8 p.m viewer!!!'
So, Pleasure 1: Waking up this morning to an immaculate house:rotfl:(makes a nice change)
2. Light showers freshening up the garden and giving us that 'summer rain' smell
3. All the seedlings which I potted on at the weekend (and had been sulking in their new pots) have perked up and are looking really happy now
4. Have just looked out of the window and the front garden is covered in apple blossom petals which fell during the rain - looks like pink snow!
5. DD was off school yesterday with a nasty cold, sore throat etc. etc. Got home from work to find she was feeling much better and had made an apple cake and also attempted a recipe for waffles! I am so pleased that she likes baking!
Have a good day everyone
x

Good Morning All,
jollymummy love the balloons:rotfl:
newlywed I did buy Delia's Frugal Food many year's ago and soon realised she is nowhere near as frugal as I am, we OS'ers could teach her a few tricks.
Reverbe you do extremely well as finding the tiny pleasures in life.
Primrose, that's a job well done, if not exactly a pleasure doing it at least you have the satisfaction of having it completed.
Kittikins I admire your energy - Happy Birthday for yesterday.
Yesterday's pleasures:-
1. Going out in pouring rain to a supermarket where I understood they had some good offers only to find they don't start until Wednesday. But I did get bacon at a good price.
2. Getting my haircut by my mobile hairdresser at a very good price and not having to go out in the rain again.
3. Making two cottage pies, one to eat and one to freeze, so now there's another 'ready' meal in the freezer.
4. Witnessing an adult baptism (total immersion in water)
5. Meeting old friends.
Bella.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
reverbe -Can your library not borrow books from other ones in the area? Or is it just that I'm really spoiled living in a city
On the other hand - I rarely find anything worth picking up on the street - it's more likely to be cigarette ends, condoms and used chewing gum
Newly, Ours is the big library and central one in our borough. We don't live in what I would class as a city but a large town yes and in the London area.
Ps I'd rather get to read a £20 book for free than find a penny but still grateful for the pennies:D

Good afternoon everyone. I'm early posting today as the children have the computer 'booked' later on for revision and no doubt a bit of Facebook
My 5 for today are:
1. No rain yet even though it was forecast :j
2. Making these marshmallow crispy bars - not healthy but very yummy:D I found the recipe on this forum somewhere ages ago :T
3. Having a cuddle with my DH when he got up after his nights work
4. A book arriving that my friend had ordered from my eBay as she doesn't have a computer.
5. Laughing at the dog chasing the bowl from the above crispie bars around the kitchen floor :rotfl: He's a Beagle with long ears that are now sticky!
Have a good rest of the day & I hope that everyone found blessings somewhere.0 -
Hi, here's mine today...
1. Walking part way to work in the sunshine
2. Going for a walk at lunch in the sunshine (got soaked yesterday)
3. HM beetroot soup for lunch that was actually quite nice (even if it looked like a bowl full of raspberry smoothie!!)
4. Being stopped for directions during my lunchtime walk and being able to give good (hopefully very clear) directions on how to get to the clinic. I hate it when I'm asked for directions and can't help
5. Feeling like my jeans fit a bit better with all this walking.
6. A skirt from ebay turning up and it being lovely and brand new and fits (and has a small mark on it and is dry clean only I'm not sure whether that was from where I opened it at my desk at work or was on there when packed )
7. Feeling tired and like I'm gonna sleep well tonightworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
and...
8. Getting a sainsbugs voucher for online ordering (from not having ordered in a while) and...
9. Putting an order in to be delivered friday (mot is thursday so even if it fails we will have shopping over the weekend).
