Five OS Pleasures in your day today
Comments

Hi all, here are mine for the day
1) Watching the mist move over the countryside on the bus on my way to work. Beautiful.
2) That first cup of tea of the day.
3) Muscle ache from the day before - cleaning the oven will build my muscles!
4) Making an omelette from bits and bobs leftover in the fridge in place of the meal I did have planned. I was expecting DH2B to be home earlier, so I had planned to roast some chicken drumsticks. As he got home later than planned I decided to throw together an omelette and it was lovely, even with tinned ham
5) The prospect of a walk with the sun setting. Bliss.

Hi all
Here are mine for today:
1 - The weather! Always cheers me up when it is sunny.
2 - Unexpected freedom today, was meant to have a meeting but only my boss and I turned up, so we had a quick supervision (just not to have wasted all the travel time) and then I went off to central London and invited my DS to join me in the afternoon.
3 - The company of my DS, wandering the streets of London together chatting, it was just like old times before he went through the terrible teenage years. My lovely boy is back, thanks God!
4 - Freebie Starbucks frappuccino for both DS and I in Carnaby Street (I gave him mine because I do not drink coffee and he was well pleased).
5 - Bought DS a nice pair of trousers in GAP, reduced to £14.99.
6 - Cooking an asparagus omelette for dinner tonight and getting loads of compliments from all the family.
7 - Deciding not to go to the knitting class tonight and instead am about to go downstairs and help DH to plant beans into toilet roll tubes, with the view of putting the little plants in the ground without disturbing the roots (the cardboard dissolves in the ground).
Have a good night everybody! xxx
EDITED TO SAY: Olliebeak (and anyone else interested): I found a free online introduction to the book I mentioned, 101 Things To Do Before You Diet, here is the link, happy reading! http://rhwidget.randomhouse.co.uk/flash-widget/widget_lg.do?mode=1&menu=0&cf=ffffff&cb=000000&isbn=9780385616102Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Hi chaps! It's been an interesting day.
1) Finding out that I do have a job and will be paid for the next few months, although it's going to mean a pay cut after that. Still, I work with an amazing bunch of people and I'm doing something I love, so DH is right behind me. I'm very grateful.
2) Having a go at clearing the bottom of the garden after work. It involved a fire, as it always does. However, it has been used as a dumping ground for all the garden rubbish for the last 20 years by the previous owner, so it's good to get out there and try to make a difference.
3) DH cooked tea for the first time in 16 years, and it was delicious (well, I did used to be a SAHM and domestic goddess)
4) Bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine from the daughter of a friend. She stayed with us over Easter. Much appreciated
5) Quick chat with a friend I haven't seen for ages. I took some books to the charity shop on the way home from work and then delivered my 'used' magazines to her, since she likes a good read. We promised to catch up properly in the summer
As you can see, it's been a good day.0 -

What an amazing day it's been, and a promise of more tomorrow :j
Welcome bebee and congrats on finding your adopted Aunt :T. Hope all goes well for you, take it slowly and may you have a long and happy relationship
Loved reading all the simple pleasures everyone had today, sausage casserole, enough food til payday, legs aching because they went for a walk, a relative calling in, being able to buy some inexpensive clothes...these are the sort of things that make me so grateful we don't live in a country of poverty, war, famine, hatred etc etc :A
Monday blessings...
1. The maintenance crew trimming the hedges and spraying the weeds in the square, they even sprayed my little front garden (which consists of 18 paving slabs) so the weeds wouldn't grow in the cracks. I did take them a cuppa as thanks
2. Phoned the surgery for an appt this pm but they'd all gone. The receptionist was very apologetic and gave me an appt for tomorrow morning - unheard of when it's not an emergency
3. DS arrived this pm with a pressure washer to do my patio and garden path. I'm lucky that the dog doesn't use the lawn but I'm constantly tipping boiling water and disinfectant on the paving slabs. Sorry if that's tmibut I'm really grateful for the use of the pressure washer!
4. Went to a meeting this evening and I'm still laughing at some of the stories I heard there. It wasn't supposed to be a serious meeting as such but was much more fun than it could have been
5. A bit heavy this one but after a huge amount of thought over a period of time I made the decision today to - delicately - end a relationship which was going nowhere, and doing neither me or the other person any good. I feel a bit shakey but at the same time feel as though a weight has been lifted from my shoulders now the deed has been done so to speak. It will be a blessing for both of us in the long run, it needed to be done before it became destructive and we can now continue with our separate lives without making enemies of each other.
On that note I'll just say night night everybody, sweet dreams and ((((hugs)))) to all...

:hello: coooeeeee - only meeeee!
You've got to stop this, everybody, you're all so busy that you're making me look lazier than ever.
ooooo kaz665 - looking forward to a new baby in the family :j - they're brill for playing 'pass the parcel' with when newborn and everybody gets teary-eyed plus you don't have to take them home with you (best kind!).
Hi newlywed - one of the best pressies to get - to be able to have a new hairdo. I've got my hairdresser coming next weekend - get my colour done ready for my hols in a couple of weeks- back to being the younger, prettier, sexier, vital creature that lurks within this decrepit old body of mine !
Sounds like you had a beautiful weekend, Lelc.
Hi shopndrop - congratulations on being 'normal'!
Hi bebee and welcome- wonderful news about your 'adopted aunt' and hope you enjoy each others' company.
Primrose - amazing how generous gardening people can be with their surplus stuff - there's always something that can be traded with others - so good for the 'pass it forward' ethos.
Isn't it lovely when you get to enjoy the company of just one of your kids on their own for a change, SunnyGirl! - we can't always manage to give them a great deal of individual attention but it does seem to work wonders.
wow Reverbe - some great freebies/ys in there :j - well done!
If you're looking for ovens to clean, frugalswan, I'm offering to start the queue going.
Thanks for the link, Caterina - looks like MY kind of book !
Bubbles, sandcastles and water play - doesn't get much better for a three year old (or his mum and nanna!), jollymummy.
:jon the job Patchwork Quilt - good news.
Hi Jsl - enjoying the longer days here too.
Well done, sparrer, on your painful decision. Sometimes we just need to declutter our lives of destructive relationships - no matter how painful it may be at the time. Hope you are able to remain strong in that decision and have some positive support to fall back on if you need it.
1. Quiet day in work yesterday (thank you Lord!) - all behaving themselves.
2. The garden waste guys took away 6 bins of grass cuttings from my garden  - so pleased to see the back of all that - was worried that it would start to pong in the warm weather.
3. Midday visit from DS1 who gave me a lift to our local housing office. Put in a reclaim form for overpaid rent £175 - just in time for my holiday spends fund :j.
4. Took dgd1 (nearly 11) out for shopping spree and a meal. So pleased she chose 'nice clothes' and we didn't have to have the argument about how some things are unsuitable for her age. Needed to buy her 2 bras  - where's my 'baby princess' gone to? Was really good to spend time with her without distractions of her younger brother and baby sister. His turn next weekend
.
5. dgs1's teeth are still in place :j - he's learned to put his food to the back of his mouth and chew with the back teeth instead of biting into it with the front teeth.
will try to catch up again later in the day - have a lovely day, everybody  - Ollie xxx0 -
Hiya everyone
Welcome to bebee - thank you for sharing your pleasures with us - very heartwarming reading about you finding your aunt - may your relationship blossom x
Ive just caught up with all your posts & you have all been so busy - good to see that you are finding pleasure from the simple & free things in life
My 5 for yesterday were;
1) Seeing a noticable improvement in my ds who's been poorly - Its such a worry when he's ill but such a relief to see him getting back to his old self. :A
2) Sitting outside in the the garden while the sun was shining watchin my ds playing/getting covered in as much muck as possible. :rolleyes2
3) Watching my bunny Daisy drinking lots of water & wondering why only to discover later that ds had been feeding her some of his easter egg :icotbaske- It did make me chuckle  - but I will have to keep a closer eye on him in future
4) The anticipation of Ashes to Ashes returning to our screens last night & watching it and not being disappointed - espically with DCI Gene Hunt
5) Having a much needed early night - All the football excitement of the day before finally caught up with me.
May your belssing continue x0 -
Bebee congrats on the Adopted Aunt (how does that work then?) and Sparrer well done on coming to a decision on your relationship - it sounds as if it wasn't an easy thing to do.
Raining here today but I'm not going to moan as the plants could do with it and we have been pretty lucky lately.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Getting the hedge trimmed out the front. It did take about an hour and a half as one of the regular dog walkers (and also cocker spaniel owner) from the park stopped to have a chat. Quite nice to get to know her after just quick hellos for all this time.
2. Finished my OU work and made a start on planning my essay which needs to be done by Friday. Got such a busy week planned I'm gonna have to be ultra organised.
3. I went to the gym :T:T:T:T. Have been meaning to for ages and finally got there! Need to get some serious exercise in before the Race for Life in May.
4. Dogs walked and content - lovely to watch them sunbathing in the garden.
5. Watched the first 10 mins of Ashes to Ashes but was too tired to stay up (had recorded it) so DONT TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED!!!
6. Feeling like I had a productive day and am ready to give the weight loss, exercise, study and money saving a really good effort this coming month.0 -
Afternoon all. It's raining and I'm not disappointed - I think the plants could do with a bit of water. It's still really warm though.
Yesterday:- Going home to dinner cooked in slow cooker. Mince & tatties and still some mince left which I'll turn into a pasta bake on Wednesday. It was nice having both dd and ds home for dinner too.
- Going for a nice leisurely walk with dh and the dogs. The sun was shining and we just chatted about all sorts. Last year this wouldn't have happened - at that time our relationship was hanging on by a thread but we've worked through it and things are so much better now.
- Dh gave me a hand in the garden and we finally started to tackle the pile of waste that came from having a digger pull up all of the edge of the garden including a couple of trees, some hedge and a fence. It looks so much better.
- Counting my 20p piggy bank and discovering that I have £60. The ladies in the canteen have converted them into notes for me and that, along with £40 that I'd managed to save over the month means that my car mot and tax has just about been covered.
- Being able to hear much better since having an ear infection in one of my ears a few weeks ago. It seems to have taken ages for the hearing to return and it was quite depressing for a while as I felt so isolated. It's made doubly worse that I am hard of hearing in my other ear too (I have a hearing aid but it doesn't help much really as it amplifies everything not just the things you are trying to hear - if only I could switch on subtitles when people are talking to me
).
kaz665 - I've got a cocker too. She's a brown one, 3 years old and devoted to dh (although happy to have cuddle with me if he's not around). The other dog is springer spaniel, also 3 years old but she's devoted to me.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323
