  • What a lovely thread :D Do you all mind if I join in? To me, these simple and free moments are what make me really satisfied and happy with life.
    My five pleasures today:

    1) A fabulous sunny day - washing on the line and watering the veggies I'm growing in pots and bags.

    2) I live by the sea and I'm noticing the walkers, cyclists and holiday-makers are starting to appear. Seeing them enjoying this area makes me realise how lucky I am to live here too!

    3) Another day home-educating my gorgeous sons - amongst other things today we did a moving image/science practical; made a whale mobile with my youngest and continued an A-Z of Antarctica and the Arctic.

    4) Tried cooking a chicken, coconut and plantain curry. The plantain was not nice :p

    5) Hemming a pair of smart trousers for my older son who is going to be the flag bearer for his Scouts pack at the St George's day parade.

Not a bad Wednesday - and of course there's good tv on tonight too ;)

    Evening all,

You have all been so busy! Lots of newbies which is great. And hello to lurkers, sometimes it's good to lurk.
I'm feeling a mixture of exhaustion, upset and ok! So quite a mixed bag. Upset at so many friends and family being ill at the moment.:o But here's looking for the silver lining:-

    1. Helping someone in a shop today by giving her a spare strong bag (watch an Inconvenient Truth and you may too be obsessed and always carry strong carrier bags!), she was being terribly British and oh no that's alright and then she accepted. Made me happy to help someone if in only a small way.
    2. Greeting the cats who were rather hot and bothered with a nice meal, they were soon washing and settled.
    3. Sitting in the summerhouse this morning. Bliss.
    4. Buying a little welcome sign from the £1 shop, kitsch but hey!
    5. Off to watch some great telly.

    Night-all :A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.
 Fab thread: Long daily walks
  • Evening,

Hope you all had a lovely day. It was glorious here and i had a reasonable nights sleep (no mean feat with a 24 month and 3 month old i can tell you) so i was feeling very bright and cheery :)

    My pleasures today were:
    1. LO Meatballs for lunch with HM bread.
    2. LO Fish Pie for dinner.
    3. Putting out my rubbish and realising that because i now cook nearly everything from scratch that my wheelie bin was less than half full. I'm super conscious of the amount of waste we produce as a family (nappies - eurgh), must try harder to recycle more though, my challenge for next month i think.
    4. Collecting some boots from the cobbler, they look as good as new and although the cost of having them resoled and heeled wasn't particularly cheap, it was a lot cheaper than new boots :)
    5. Buying whoopsied lean mince in M&S (2 Kg for £6), never before would i have thought to look for whoopsies in 'posh' supermarkets but have managed to get some amazing bargains both here and in Waitrose lately.
    6. Returning some trousers to M&S that i purchased last week (without trying them on because i had the little ones with me), the old me would have left them languishing in my wardrobe unworn with tags on until it was too late. I used the money to pay for my boot repair.
    7. Receiving a lovely orchid and card from the lady i 'rescued' last week from her car wreck outside my house. I felt quite awful as she is obviously still very shaken about it all and visiting the site bought it back for her, but she was determined to thank me for my "kindness and hospitality". Two times in two days i've been thanked now, and it made my heart swell. Good deeds are obviously good for my soul....
Hugs & suntan lotion for you all

...This did make me giggle, poor little soul, i hope your DS is all recovered now ;)...xxx

Thanks scrummymummy, my DS2 is now 30 and DD is 29 - so they both survived the trauma at the time :rotfl: - even though she spent the first three months in a carry-cot on top of the kitchen table (baby gate across the kitchen door) - to keep her out of his way. Poor thing only got a proper cuddle when he had his naps! He used to throw his toys into the carrycot for her to play with and I was always a bit concerned how hard they would land . They actually grew up like twins, once he got used to the fact that she was here to stay .

    They've given me 5 beautiful dgk's between them :T.

    - hope you enjoy your trip, sparrer, and well done on hardly using your inhaler :j.
    - wow bella £240 saved on gas&elec - brilliant news :T.
    - mmmm Reverbe - chocolate and macadamia icecream .
    - :hello: to BlimusOreilly - good to meet you :). Well done on the home-educating - what a great start for your sons. Hope you're able to be in touch with others in your area. I tried to do plantain once - really thought I'd like them - what a disappointment :(.
    - ((((((hugs)))))) for mineallmine (and anybody else who needs/wants one) - hope you managed to find some relaxation this evening.
    - :jat the kids sleeping through last night, scrummymummy - what bliss! How kind of the 'accident lady' to thank you like that - very strong of her to make herself revisit the scene in that way :).

    1. Visit from DS1 this morning - for our usual breakfast chat :D.
    2. Needed a new strimmer cartridge/cover/line and managed to get the last one in store this morning :j which they (Focus DIY) reserved until OH could collect it for me.
    3. OH finally able to finish the rear garden today - at last somewhere that dgk's can play outside from under our feet ;).
    4. Visit from DD with dgd2 this afternoon. Lovely to see them both so unexpectedly. She'd been for advice about the mortgage/house that her ex-OH is refusing to pay for. She's looking (and sounding) much more positive. Dgd2 has now taken to wandering around on her knees - looks like an 18mth old Toulouse Lautrec :rotfl:.
    5. Had some good news about one of my tenants today - so feeling very :D this evening.

Hope we all have a good refreshing night's sleep - nitey nite all  - love Ollie xxx

Hi all hope you're all well? My five for today

    1. Discovering the Lancashire Hot Pots thanks to OllieBeak's link this morning.

    2. Sitting on a bench in a park near the library with my friend just chatting

    3. Cuddles with Max, the Beagle, on the sofa whilst watching The Bill.

    4. Planting some lettuce seeds ready for home grown salad this summer.

    5. Realising that I'm going to be under on the Grocery Challenge this month which will help towards DD's & DS1's birthday fund in May.

I hope that everyone has a good evening xx
  • 1) Saving the stalks from the ghastly plant at the bottom of the garden for pea sticks
    2) Receiving a bag of lovely baby clothes from a friend at work for another friend's baby. They don't know each other but they still want to help out
    3) A lady at the tip helping me with an enormous bag of branches (why do people plant these things?)
    4) A late birthday present - a pink lily in a lovely box - and a quick chat with my friend when she delivered it
    5) Baking when I came home from work to use up all the left overs in the fridge

Welcome BlimusOreilly and thank you for the smile, I love your name :D. We used to live by the sea and I miss the sound of the waves at night. When we moved up country the silence kept us awake for a long time until we got used to it.

Gosh Reverbe, 20,000 steps! It makes me go _pale_ just thinking about it but well done you. Most I manage is a trip to the end of the garden - all of 25 feet - and that's on a good day :rotfl:

Lovely that you heard good news re one of your tenants Ollie, although of course we're impartial and keep our distance, don't get involved in their lives...do we? ;)

    Wednesday blessings...

    1. Was offered, and happily accepted, some extra telephone duties for my fellowship, as I'm away next week others are covering my usual rota so am only to happy to give back what I can.

    2. DS's work has taken him away for an indefinite period of time, they never give notice it's just go when and where he's told. I already miss my 'boy' who's been with me on and off since November, but on the bright side I have my bedroom back :). He couldn't have the spare room as there's only a junior bed, so as I'm five feet nothing I let him have my room. Shan't know myself tonight in my king sized bed!

    3. All the bedding washed and line dried as it was another beautiful day, so warm in fact that I didn't close the back door til after 9pm this evening. Lucky I'm a bit mutt n jeff because neighbours on the corner were playing their 'music' for all the county to hear . Another neighbour did eventually have a word re children trying to sleep and they turned it down...nice that they were reasonable about it

    4. Did a top-up shop in Mr A and found some easy-cook dinners for my lodger. Sorted out the freezer, to make it easy he has all his food in one drawer but I doubt he'll touch it, last time I went away he went back to his mum for his dinners. Lucky she just lives at the other end of the village :D.

    5. Phoned my DB who's in hospital having had an op on his knee, the cartiledge (sp?) has all but disappeared and the patella was crumbling. Sounds nasty, but they've put it all to rights and now he just has to learn to walk again. What a pair, him with his knee and ex OH with his hip...what a blessing that we have an NHS system in our country :A

Night night everybody, sweet dreams and ((((hugs)))) to all...

Welcome blimus . Hope you find it as uplifting and inspiring as we regs do.

:D @ sparrer. Paying for it with a few aches but they will go in time and I hope to do that looong walk at least a coupla times a week with other walks on the other days. Can't afford the gym and the weight isnt shifting.Had hoped that losing my job in December would mean i'd lose buckets due to not being able to afford food. but it doesnt seem to be working.

    Hi everyone
Ive just read all your lovely posts - thanks for sharing your blessings with me - does me the power of good.
Welcome BlimusOreilly Of course no-one minds you sharing - The more the merrier on this board. :grouphug:
    Mine for yesterday & today are;
    1) Enjoyed quality time grooming my rabbits - In particular Daisy(Boo) who was more than happy for me to to give her a haircut & a comb & laid sprawled out across my knees while it was done - (although I think the rabbit choc treats helped) :icotbaske
    2) Watching my 2yo ds & his imagination developing by the minute - He was talking to himself about being a special agent on a mission & set about exploring the garden with his binoculars - comical! :rotfl:
    3) Getting out the house for the first time in weeks - took a trip to the village & bought a few bargains from Home Bargains. :money:
    4) Getting a phonecall from Surestart to say that Ive been accepted on an Assertiveness course with creche facilities (all free) - starting tommorrow - can't wait. :j
    5) Spending time with my dm & ds & realising how close they have got since dm cared for him when I was ill - she's obviously enjoyed it as offered to make it a regular thing - I wouldn't play on her but 1 afternoon a week would give me a welcome bit of me time. :T

BlimusOreilly Welcome, this is a great place to come to look on the bright side.

Olliebeak you are so good at commenting on individual posts, how do you do it? I would be scolling backwards and forwards all day long. Do you take notes or have you got a secret formula.

SunnyGirl may your lettuce seeds reward you well. I am keeping myself going in home grown salad, all grown in pots. I have mixed leaves, rocket, spinach, land cress and also eat the thinnings from the peas. It's so rewarding as well as being :money:.

Well, I'm up to date with my pleasures so I'm off now to find my 5 for today.

    Bella.
