  • Is it just an old wives' tale that eating Marmite puts the midges off? They never bite me and I live on the stuff, although it could also be that DH is more tasty!

Here goes for the last couple of days

    1) Getting loads of washing dried outside
    2) Not having the heating on. I feel very virtuous at the moment
    3) Finding four enormous (400g) balls of nice wool in the charity shop, just when I was thinking of trying to knit a jumper. If I start one now, it might be ready for Christmas.
    4) Talking to my brother on the phone. We're having a bit of a crisis in the wider family at the moment but one way or the other, it will work out and it has brought us together.
    5) Our decorator. He's got to the bottom of the stairs and has started on the doors. We've got thirteen doors (including cupboards) in the hall/stairs/landing. I can't imagine how long it would have taken us to do all this work and he only charges £7 an hour.

    Good evening everyone,

    My five for today are

    1. Knowing that Dad is home safe & sound - and the van too :D

    2. Beautiful warm sunshine here this afternoon & blowy this morning so all the washing is dry & smells divine.

    3. Cutting all the boys & DH's hair with clippers - it saves so much money and it's very easy for them to look after.

    4. My family too. We all get on each others nerves at times & shout but when the chips are down we all pull together.

    5. Anticipated hot bath & pampering session soon - I'm doing legs, nails body lotion etc :j so should feel rejuvenated.

Blessings to all & I hope that you have a good evening & weekend to come.

  • Evening All,

    My five for today :-

    1. Walked round Arrow Valley lake with family .
    2. Drove to Teme valley for a walk and car picnic.
    3. Went out for a meal with friends.
    4. Watched a good cabaret show
    5. Munched some cadbury mini eggs

    Cheers Steve
  • Finally, it's the weekend, as much as i love the fact that DH is back in work i do appreciate another pair of hands to help with the kiddwinkles, especially this week as i am poopered :)

    My pleasures today were:
    1. Reduced Price Shredded Wheat Fruitful for breakfast :)
    2. A brisk walk into town with DD & DS to buy an anniversary card for mr scrummy-mummy (married 8 years on Monday).
    3. Finding boxes of 6 cadburys creme eggs in waitrose for 35p each, bought 4 boxes, that should keep me going for a while :)
    4. Finding whoopsied steak and beef joint in waitrose
    5. Coming home and having great fun with DD at dinner time, we had a strawberry mousse face painting session, naughty but hilarious, children find pleasure in things that i think as grown ups we often forget about.
Extra pleasureable day to look forward to tomorrow, DH is taking DD swimming and i will have most of the morning to myself (DS tends to nap in the morning as he's still only 'ickle).

  • Hi everyone

scrummy-mummy DH is doing well, has more tests next week and on Friday we will know if he has beaten it!

sparrer thanks for your good wishes. Really looking forward to having a new roof, but I am not looking forward to the noise that will be involved.

Lelc DH was diagnosed with cancer and had radical surgery in March was told he wouldn't be able to work for three months - so its a huge relief to see him recover so quickly

bellaquidsin Take care, you seem to be having a "whoopsie" time lately. Hope you aren't too bruised and sore.

scousewife Dh is unstoppable. He is now planning a driving holiday round the Island.

    My pleasures for the day.

    1. Woke up to giggling in the lounge, DGC were entertaining themselves so well.

    2. Plan to finish clearing the vegetable plot ready for replanting.

    3. Its a beautiful sunny day today.

    4. Oh went fishing yesterday, fresh snapper for dinner last night.

    5. Friend has just sent round a large bag of veg, so will need to think of some exciting ways to use them

    Blessings be
    Jennie

Wow a yellow buddleia, that sounds really nice. Buddleia are so hardy (have to be with me) - will keep a look out for this.

Had a look at the label mineallmine, it's called buddleia x weyeriana Sungold and like you I too have to have hardly plants. Mine just keel over and die otherwise ha ha. Apparently this one doesn't grow quite as big as some varieties so it should suit my wee plot.

Bella hope you had a safe day ;)

So pleased things will slowly get back to normal now your dad's home sunnygirl, you (and your mum) deserve a pamper session :A

I went to Blackpool a few years ago Ollie, and loved it. I had friends who lived near there at the time, who invited me up to see the lights. Perhaps if/when I go to visit my DS and future DiL in their new home near Preston I'll go again :). Love the name bogmyrtle, hope it smells better than it sounds!

    Friday blessings...

    1. The rain stopped just in time for me to take my coffee outside, it was a bit damp but smelled nice and fresh

    2. Postie brought me a free packet of tomato seeds called Tumbelina, which is self-explanatory really, I'll sow them tomorrow and try to find a patch of ground where I can put another planter, or wall where I can hang another basket. Running out of space rapidly here!

    3. DS went up north yesterday but is back tomorrow bringing his 12 y/o future stepson with him. He's such a lovely lad, a real credit to his mum. Of course he's on his best behaviour til he gets to know me a bit better ;). He teases himself about his Lancashire accent when he visits us..I told him to be proud of it (even if he does have to speak a bit slower than usual so I can understand him!)

    4. Found Susan Boyle on youtube - if you saw Britain's Got Talent last weekend you'll know who I mean. Every time she sings it brings a lump to my throat, and she's so normal she's incredible. I do hope they leave her alone and don't insist on makeovers etc, to depersonalise her :naughty:

    5. Remembered to phone the phone co today to get my mobile sorted out for going away - last year I forgot and spent 2 weeks paying for phone cards . Not very OS!

Night night everybody, sweet dreams and ((((hugs)))) to all...

Thanks for the info Sparrer, I just need to clear some weeds to make room for it

Kiwi - I didn't realise how serious your DH op was, it's remarkable how well he's doing, my prayers are with you :A

    1. A cup of sweet tea this morning (reverted to Twinings English Breakfast, which is expensive but is so nice)
    2. Seeing crisp blue skies outside

    Right that's all for now.
