Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Morning all. Back to work today and it's a bit of a shock to the system to have to get up and get going straightaway. But still, the sun is shining and the train was on time.
So yesterday's pleasures were:- Another warm and sunny day so I tackled the garden. I cut back the hedge and chopped quite a few branches off one of the trees. I had the assistance of the cat and the dogs who took great delight in scattering my neat piles of debris across the whole of the garden. To help motivate me I took before and after photos.
- Vacuumed the whole house. You have no idea what a pleasure it is to be able to do this as before I started 'flyladying' there was too much clutter everywhere.
- I had a long hot bath to ease my weary muscles and added some really nice bubble bath.
- Did my meal plan for the week using just what I'd bought from the supermarket on Sunday plus stuff from the freezer.
- Before going to bed I prepared my sandwiches for my lunch today using leftover chicken and stuffing. I also put out my clothes for work today. I can't remember the last time I was so organised.
- My dd passed her theory driving test:j
- It was brilliant leaving the house clean and tidy and tonights meal already planned. I can go home and tackle a bit more of the garden. I'm determined to get some space cleared for me to grow my own veg in a raised bed as well as in pots.

Lelc - if you're worried about the cost of your daughter's car insurance when she passes her driving test, check out Pass Plus (You can Google it). It's a further course (no test at the end but you are assessed on each module and it teaches the inexperienced driver how to cope with difficult road conditions, motorway driving and other things not necessarily taught on the test. Most insurance companies will offer a reduced premium for drivers who have undergone Pass Plus, so it's worth going the extra mile on lessons, especially bearing in mind that 2 out of 5 new drivers are involved in an accident within 2 years of passing their test).
My recent blessings:
1. Picking up our replacement car - a low mileage year old demo model at half its new price. . Not Old Style but as our 8 year old motor was about to cost us a lot of money so we decided there was little point in throwing good money after bad so plan to keep it for years and get our money's worth..
2. Waking up on the morning after a Bank Holiday and realising I don't have to go to work. (Still loving this aspect of retirement).
3. Pottering out in the garden and enjoying the sunshine. (This is free luxury is worth five other blessings all on its own.0 -
Just a quick blessing to share.
Phone call from DD (aka Calamity Jane) to say that dgs1 (special needs age nearly 8) had taken a fall and knocked out a front tooth and what should she do! While ringing around for details of emergency dentist, another call to say he'd prodded around and poked out the other front tooth .
Eventually told to contact their own dentist who was able to see them IF they could get there within 30mins as he would be leaving for the rest of the day. dgd's 1&2 arrived at mine in a taxi (still not dressed!) and DD took dgs to dentist in another one.
Outcome is that both teeth have now been re-inserted and there is a 90% chance that they'll 'take' IF he can leave them alone and eat only sloppy food for the next 2-3 weeks !
What a day! :T to God and another :T to the dentist and  at her ex-OH and his mother who arrived at the dentist as she got out of the taxi, proceeded to pass snidey comments about 'second incident in a couple of weeks' and drove away afterwards leaving her to make her way back home with him covered in blood!0 -
Hi everyone. Dad STILL in York hospital & Mum still alone in the van as the cardiac man didn't manage to get round to my Dad today. We've got everything crossed for tomorrow though. My five for today are:
1. Talking to Mum on the phone at 7am this morning. I knew she'd be awake like me - we're both early birds.
2. Making 2 weetabix cakes & some Twinks hobnobs this morning - the downstairs of the house smelt gorgeous
3. Getting 2 full lines of washing dry before it started raining the afternoon.
4. DD got Change 4 Life free swimming cards for herself and her brothers this morning.
5. Anticipated pleasure of a bath very shortly then reading my library book - a particularly gripping thriller about a forensic profiler
I wish everyone blessings tonight & tomorrow :A0 -
Olliebeak - hope the little un is OK.
SunnyGirl - hope your dad is soon on the mend. We are caravanners and I know people on site can be extremely helpful in an emergency. My dad took ill last year when he was away with us and was rushed into hospital (it was the day of DS graduation) but people on the site were so helpful, but it is stressful being away from home. Hope your mum is coping OK.
Mine for today.
1. DS gone back to London today so not a pleasure but being able to clean the house from top to bottom was.
2. Got all my washing out on the line and now it is all dry and ironed, just waiting to go away.
3. DH has just fitted my new oven which arrived this afternoon. Didn't pay to have the old one taken away - will put it on freecycle instead.
4. Meeting up with family members at the weekend, some of whom I have never met. Everyone made an effort to get to the hotel even though we are all over the country.
5. Having a lovely but busy weekend including going to the 18th party of the son of friends but also being invited to lunch for "close family". Just pleased that we have friends that consider us as close as family.
6. Having company of DH today as he was working from home.
7. Off for a bath and early bed tonight - had too many late nights recently.0 -
Had a lovely day today - spent most of the time in the garden.
My five:
1) Seeing that my seedlings I planted on Thursday have already appeared.
2) Getting four eggs from the chickens
3) Planting the rest of my potatoes and earthing up the first batch already!
4) Getting all the Bank Holiday washing done today
5) Giving my excess tomato and aubergine plants away to delighted freecyclers! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Evening all,
It's been a real night of drama here, i heard a bang about an hour or so ago and thought someone had knocked over a wheelie bin, i looked out of my window to see that someone had managed to flip their car over and embed it in the lamppost opposite my house. The driver thankfully was unhurt and was sitting in my living room until a few minutes ago, so DS had his first sightings of real life police officers, firemen and ambulance crew. DD will be upset to have missed all the excitement.
My pleasures today are- Feeling fortunate to be alive and well and thankful that cars are so well made these days that people can walk away from nasty accidents with nothing more than a scratch.
- Feeling fortunate that i paid attention in my St Johns Ambulance courses at school and knew exactly what to do in an emergency (i think the victim was pretty grateful too
).
- Taking DD & DS to the park and watching DD growing in confidence so that she is now able to tackle the slide on her own.
- Washing my bedlinen and being able to dry it on the line, knowing that i will have a lovely clean fresh bed to get into tonight.
- Cuddles with DH on the sofa, a rare moment of togetherness these days as we are always on the go, with parenting, housekeeping or something else!!

Ollie the lemonade bottle idea is genius, you should patent it! Hope DGS's teeth 'take', and your DD can shrug off the snide comments. Some folk make me mad with their thoughtlessness
Reverbe I was so pleased to hear you'd had some comp time with your OH. Something you can hold on to and cherish
Sunnygirl will keep everything x'd here too for the cons to see your dad. Hugs
Goodness scrummy-mummy, what drama! Well done you for remembering the St John's training, I think we should all do something like that as a matter of course. Thankfully in my last job we did a refresher (as I am sure does Ollie) every so often but my cert has run out now so I might pop along to the local leisure centre where they do half-day courses. Thanks for the reminder
Tuesday blessings...
1. The weather has changed for the better again, been reading how many of you had a good Easter while here it was lovely last week, rained all weekend, and is now sunny again. Daft!
2. Mowed the lawn and did the all edges, took me 3 sessions but I did it without asking for help from my young lodger so really pleased with myself.
3. On the strength of the above I cleaned the car this pm which certainly got the old heart rate going! I had thought to take it to the hand car wash (aren't they springing up everywhere now?) but I saved myself £10 by doing the inside and outside myself and am really pleased with how it shines
4. Planted up another hanging basket, trouble is I've got nowhere to put it...I really must control myself when I go to the farm shop for pet food or fresh veg, my feet just take me off to the garden area with no encouragement from me!
5. DS arrived this evening until Friday. Lovely to have his company for a few days (and to be able to get the dratted curtain pole up which has defied all my efforts!)
Night night everybody, sweet dreams and ((((hugs)))) to all

Good morning all. It's a little greyer and cooler today but nay mind.
No excitement here I'm afraid but I am keeping everything crossed for my dd who has a job interview today.
Yesterday's pleasures:- Taking the train to work with my dd. It's far more relaxing than sitting in a queue of traffic (although it can be stressful if the train is late or doesn't turn up).
- Meeting up with my work mate for coffee and just chatting. We usually meet up everyday to get the goss but we've not managed for the last month.
- 2nd day of rubber chicken. There was just me and dh for dinner so we had cold chicken and chips with pickles. It made a nice change.
- The sun was still shining after dinner so I managed another hour in the garden. This time I tackled the brambles. There's something quite therapeutic about hacking away with pruning shears and a saw.
- Got easter eggs at Mr Ts for 99p so when I came in from the garden and had my shower I lay on the bed and ate chocolate while playing solitaire on my DS lite. Very peaceful it was.
I hope you all have a fab afternoon.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323
