Evening all,
Hi to all the regulars and newbies, and lurkers. Haven't heard from ampersand for ages - hope all is ok. There seems to be a distinctly peaceful tone about all our OS blessings, very calming.
My 5 for today:-
1. Finishing off another library book
2. A lunch of soup, not HM, but lovely
3. Seeing OH get some bargains at the shops
4. Not doing very much today
5. Letting some fresh air into the house.

Evening everyone,
Hope you all had a very special and peaceful easter, the weather only improved here today so we all spent time at home enjoying each others company (and catching up on odd jobs). Ventured into 'town' today and was pleasantly surprised that it was quite peaceful.
My pleasures today were- Free sachet of muesli for breakfast
- Using vouchers from a free paper for a naughty discounted lunch at McD's (DD's favourite - naughty i know but we only go a few times a year).
- Finding a voucher for a free coffee in McD's
- Popping into Waitrose on the way home and finding heavily woopsied venison and knowing what to do with it
- Playing with DD at the park on the way home
- Colouring with DD for an hour, very absorbing and peaceful.
- Finding the bottom of my ironing pile and discovering some long lost linen trousers that will fit my post-pregnancy body until i have more opportunity and better weather to walk away the lbs :rotfl:
- Chilli Con Carne from the freezer for dinner (made during a batch cooking session at the begining of the month - easy and cheap - my favorite type of OSing.
Sleep well everyone

I hope everyone has had a lovely Easter Monday :EasterBun This is me stealing chocolate from ds and dd - tee hee :rotfl:
Better day today, feeling so much calmer. Here's 5 blessings for today:
1. A visit from db and family. I always feel we have done very well with our own two children when they visit. Much as I love my dearest niece and nephews, they are wild children desperately in need of boundaries and some manners
2. Enjoying knitting - I find it very relaxing, helping to unknot my poor frazzled brain
3. Laughing at the IT crowd - we have our very own Moss in this family :rotfl:
4. Dh fixing my washing line :T
5. Homemade mashed potato - yum
(((Hugs))) to all.0 -
Wow what a great few days of weather!!
1. Arrival of new slabs and decorative stones which enabled my DH to finish the path area outside the back door. Hooray - at least the kitchen floor will stay cleaner a bit longer and it looks great.
2. Bargain makeup purchase from link on this site. :j
3. Conquering the ironing mountain.
4. House hoovered and dusted throughout all ready to get back to work (after 2 weeks off).
5. Spare room decluttered - loads more space and got rid of lots of unneccessary rubbish.
6. Sandwiches already made for lunches tom - How organised am I today!!
7. Watched the Real Swiss Family Robinson recorded on Friday.
8. Nice cup of Mint Highlights Hot Choc.0 -
Hello everyone. Lovely to read your uplifting blessings. Kiwi- sounds like you had a wonderful break and I'm so glad to hear about your DH.
My pleasures today:
1. DH landed safely an hour ago and should be home in just over an hour:)
2. Lovely fresh bed for us to snuggle into.
3. Feel happy with cleaning and clearing in the house today. I feel as though I've achieved a lot.
4. Reading peacefully today.
5. Typing here and hearing my dogs snoring their heads off beside me.
Sweat dreams tonight everyone

nope, you won't be wanting sweat dreams:rolleyes:...won't let me edit today for some reason.

Hello :hello: everybody - sounds like we've all enjoyed our Easter Break, but hohum - back to the normal world tomorrow !
kiwiblue - sounds like you and OH had a good time at Lake Taupo. One of my work colleagues went there on a trip to meet her OH's brother - they stayed for four weeks. She said it was beautiful.
Glad to hear your family visit went well, sparrer- time and distance can be great healers in family relationships. My two sisters and I get on far better these days - as teens we all shared a bedroom and fought like wildcats
.
kaz and Lelc - I've got friends the Highlands and they said they've had great weather as well - looks as though most of UK has had decent sunshine. I'll be up there myself in three and a half weeks, so I'm hoping that there's a bit in reserve for my visit.
frugalswan - I know that 'back to work feeling' - it's hanging over me right now. Still, at least it's only a 4 day week
!
mineallmine - I'm quite embarassed that I hadn't noticed ampersand's absence. Can anybody remember when she last posted? Hope all's well with her :undecided.
Congratulations on the ironing AND the venison whoopsie, scrummymummy - each very satisfying in their own way.
Well done on the knitting, thrifyscotslass - I find it (and cross-stitching) really relaxing as well- as long as the pattern isn't too attention demanding.
1. This morning I had a visit from DS1 - poor lad had to work today. He called in for his usual breakfast and THEN spotted my baking goodies. Took some slices of Lemon Drizzle Cake for his workmates as well - now I'll never get rid of them either !
2. Lunch of roast pork, stuffing and apple sauce butties with rhubarb and apple crumble for afters
3. Decided to finish the strimming of the front/side lawn and filled yet another garden waste bin with the clippings! No chance of doing the rear lawn at all now as nowhere to put any more. Still the front now looks reasonably presentable and not like a jungle. I'd love to put a lilac tree in the middle, but as I may retire (and would then have to move) in another couple of years, it's not really worth the expense/effort.
4. Neighbour's dgd shouting hello and  to me while I was out in the garden - such a pleasant, friendly child. Makes a nice change from most of the local kids.
5. Kitchen table has had a 'dodgy leg' for a couple of years now, so have shifted it to the back garden to hold seed trays, compost etc when sowing seeds. Filled a few with compost and watered them ready for sowing seeds tomorrow. Need to clear the window sill to put the trays on afterwards and may need to send OH for some small panes of glass tomorrow. Wonder if plastic would do instead?
6. Forgot all about evening meal, so more roast pork butties :rotfl: - followed by some Thornton's choccies:j.
7. Another beautiful sunset this evening - hope tomorrow is another lovely day.
8. Have had 4 of my tenants say they want to go on our trip to Blackpool in June and I only gave out the notices on Thursday- looks like it was a good move to organise this :T.
Oh well - the end of the long holiday weekendand back to the daily grind tomorrow morning.
I'm off for a read of my book before zzzzztime. Nitey nite all  Ollie xxx0 -
My simple Easter Monday blessings...
1. Being able to read and respond to the forum - I saw someone on television with a guide dog and while I know they're a miracle in themselves I counted my blessings that my eyesight is perfect
2. Haven't spoken to a soul today but that's okay. I feel sorry for people who get lonely as luckily I'm quite content with my own company
3. Finished Notes From a Small Island and started on Notes From a Big Country..I'm not a great fan of America but Bill Bryson does make me laugh
4. My little dog looking very concerned and putting his paw on my lap when I had a sneezing session this afternoon - he really is a love even though I tell him he looks like a gremlin. He'll also let me know when my phone is ringing if I'm not in the same room, just wish he'd learn to answer it for me
5. My siesta rather got the better of me - I slept for 3 hours this afternoon . Mind you I missed one yesterday so had to make up for it, and felt wide awake and raring to go. So I made a veggie pasta, watched East Enders and went for my bath. Soooo exhausting :rotfl:
Night night everybody, sweet dreams and ((((hugs)))) to you all
S x0 -
Sounds as though you had a lovely, peaceful day, sparrer
. I'm another one who can manage quite well in my own company and can always find something to do/be done - but I do feel for anybody who, physically or emotionally, needs to have others around them. I suppose it comes to us all eventually, one way or another. Long may our independence reign :j!
I've had a brainwave  about my seed trays needing glass/plastic to cover them - I can use plastic lemonade bottles.
If I cut the top and bottom off them, cut along the side and open out - should secure ok along the sides of the trays providing a curved mini-greenhouse effect. And nothing to spend, how money-saving :money:.0 -
Lelcwe visit New Plymouth quite often as it is on the marlin transition route. I really like the lake, but don't usually go there during the holidays as its so busy.
wmfThanks for the kind thoughts. Dh is improving - I know its a long process and he is very impatient, but if each day is not better than the last - at least each week shows definite improvement.
OlliebeakLake Taupo is beautiful, we have a house on the western (and less popular) side, so its usually very quiet - we are at the end of a cul-de-sac and our next door neighbours are farmers, it is very peaceful and healing
However, my five for today
1. Taking time out to curl up on the sofa and watch a movie "Perfume", ok it was gruesome, but very interesting.
2. serious weeding in the vegetable garden, which has been sadly neglected.
3. Picking baby zucchini for dinner.
4. Chatting to the neighbours.
5. Enjoying the companionship of my beloved dog - a rescue dog that had been badly abused before we got her, and now has heaps of 'bounce' and self confidence.
Blessings be
Jennie0
