Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Evening all, lovely to read the posts, but you all make me feel slovenly as I've had a very lazy day
Bella I do hope you're feeling less sore, do take care when you're shining up that bathroom!
Good Friday blessings...
1. Took an Easter egg and card next door to DN's DD, who bless her heart has a bandage all round her head after her op, which she's very self-conscious about. However we had an hour playing on her new Wii and I have to say I'm pretty dismal at most things ..we did laugh a lot though
2. DN, her DD and I 'popped out to the shops' and I bought two absolutely gorgeous shabby chic wall planters. Far too nice to hang outside so goodness knows what I'm going to do with them but as they were only £5 for the pair I had to buy them....didn't I?
3. Just me for lunch today so I finished up the veggie 'bol' I made for yesterdays pasta. I added some mild chillis and had it on a jacket tato, scrummy
4. Heard on the car radio that if you take a child to Mr S's customer sevices desk and the child wishes the member of staff a Happy Easter they get a creme egg. So we went to Mr S on the way home only to be told that the offer finished yesterday! However the lady took pity on the DD because of the disappointment on her face (and, I suspect, her bandage) and went off to get her a creme egg. Well done Mr S's staff :A
5. When I got up at 7am it was a beautiful morning, but by 10 had turned to drizzle. It was still spotting at 5pm, and suddenly everything in the garden is standing up, is coming into bud or flowering, the air smells amazing and the colours are much more defined. I do feel for everyone who's on holiday but the weather did bring its own blessings today
6. Just a last quickie thrown in - I wish I still had children at home to enjoy the hols with - I was the sad mother who cried when they went back to school! Thank God for DGC and the neighbours children :j
Night night all, sweet dreams

Morning everybody :hello: - and here's Ollie up and about at silly o'clock on Easter Saturday! Binmen are due today (instead of Monday) so had to get up to put the bin out . If we put them out the night before, they get stolen by the local 'midnight estate-moochers' for their bonfire lighting around midnight-3.00am . Then it takes 3-4 weeks to get replacements and the binmen won't take black binbags without a bin - What a faff!!!
1. Yesterday's baking session didn't quite go to plan. Don't know what was wrong, but absolutely nothing rose as it should - and all were 'well tried and tested recipes'. Can only think that it was the bag of flour (which was within date!) - anyhow it went in the bin. The proceeds can be served up with fruit and custard if any dgk's are around in the next couple of days
.
2. So - another baking session planned for today! Thank goodness I keep spare flour in the cupboard- but what a waste of eggs and margarine yesterday
.
3. Watching 'The Greatest Story Ever Told' on the telly yesterday- playing 'spot the old-time actor/actress' and waiting for John Wayne to come in with his cowboy accent-line! Despite the giggle, it's good to be reminded about what Easter is really about AND I still get goose-bumps when it's time for the Resurrection :j.
4. Visit from DS2 with dgs2&3 (7yrs and 8mths) - and a plea to mind them for 2 hours. Dgs3 has me a nervous wreck - I never seem to know what to do with him when he kicks off crying. Have to resort to blowing raspberries on his tummy to stop the tears .
5. They left and DS1 arrived with g/f and her son (age 4) for a couple of hours - we finally got our evening meal around 8.00pm. They were delighted with the outfit I got for the little fella - I don't 'do Easter Eggs' for kiddies. Also passed most of Tiggy-Tiger's 'stuff' to g/f for her cats - we're not ready to say goodbye to everything just yet.
6. Slow Cooker is on now with Scouse for tonight's meal. Can't believe that I forgot toilet rolls  when I went to Asda on Thursday - so need a trip up there shortly - we're down to half a roll at each toilet !
Hope you all have a good Saturday. May try to pop in again to catch up with postings later if I get time.
 love Ollie xxx0 -
Hooray looks like another sunny day today - it's amazing how much better that makes me feel and how much more I get done. My five for yesterday -
1. Forced myself to go for a run yesterday as only 4 weeks left until the Race for Life. Feel seriously out of shape but have at least made a start on my training and doing something about it.
2. Complete blitz of the kitchen yesterday including emptying some cupboards and bleaching everyhing - looks so much better.
3. Went to the hairdressers and had my hair done. Enjoyed the me time for a change and was pleased with my hair too.
4. BBQ in the garden with DH and DS.
5. Felt a bit headachy early evening so made myself have an early night rather than staying up just for the sake of it. Feel fantastic this morning.0 -
Here are mine (so far)
1) Enjoying a lovely lay-in, waking up when nature intended (I'm going to get as many of these as I can!)
2) Planning a hot buffet for when the family come over to visit later and it actually being quite healthy.
3) Using up some items from the freezer which have been in there quite a while - new space for more frugality
4) Making sausage rolls and a cheesecake from scratch
5) Telling a friend about something I cooked and having her feel really enthusiastic about it all and wanting to try to do more herself too.

Afternoon all. Yesterdays pleasures and so far today:
Yesterday- My car getting through it's MOT and the bill being a lot less than expected.
- Spending another day with dd and enjoying the banter but also finishing off cleaning her bedroom (it's taken a week). What was really nice was later in the afternoon she disappeared into her room to lie on the bed with the laptop - she couldn't have done that last weekend!!
- Realising that I've managed to sort out all of the bedrooms and living room and that I can now leave all the doors open as there's nothing to hide. The dogs love it as they have a bit more space to wander about (I live in a flat btw).
- Receiving my spuds and bags and free seeds - cost £3.99 (from deal found on low cost freebies board). Just need some compost and I can get started.
- DH buying a takeaway for dinner so no cooking last night.
- Sun is shining and it's warm.
- Having a really leisurely day as just me and the dogs/cat today. DH brought me a cup of tea before he left so I read a bit more of my book and then got up had breakfast and another cup of tea while watching an old episode of Morse.

shopandrop and sparrer, thanks for your concern. I am just sore. I was washing my feet (one at a time) in the wash basin when I overbalanced and fell into the bath. Unfortunately I knocked up what is already a very dodgey hip, but I'll live.
My pleasure for the last two days:-
1. Taking the DGK's to a farm where they could handle two day old chicks and stroke the lambs.
2. Baking what looks like a passable wheat free cake for a friend who is wheat intolerant and is coming tomorrow.
3. Spending this afternoon 'tweaking' the garden with help from DH. He is practising for retirement when the gardening will be his job - except I will still do the nice bits.
4. Scone and coffee at home, hm soup and roll for lunch at home, tea and muffin at home and lovely pork steak with apple and sage and onion cooked in the Remoska at home when, being a Bank Holiday we could have been tempted to eat one or more of those elements out in the madding crowd at some pain to the pocket.
5. Just relaxing after a couple of very full days.

Having had a bit of a difficult evening, it's really good to gather my thoughts and post my blessings.
1. Reading all your lovely pleasures
2. Sitting out in the garden at lunctime with the sun on my face and listening to kids in other gardens playing and having fun.
3. Watching a recorded Taggart while tackling my mountain of ironing.
4. Walking the dogs this morning at 8.30, even though I wasn't going to - but they just lay and looooked at me. We're getting into this timetable so it will be a shock to them when I go back to work in a week!
5. Having 2 lovely frugal and tasy meals at home - baked potato, blue cheese and salad for lunch and then 2nd day curried veg soup (better than it sounds!)
Off to bed now with my book.
Sweet dreams tonight folks

Good evening everyone I haven't posted for a couple of days as my Dad was taken into hospital from a caravan site in York on Thursday night with chest pains. It's suspected unstable angina so he's still in but hoping to come out next week. It's been difficult as I'm in Lancashire and my cars off the road so haven't been able to get over to support them both. Mum is kuckily with some friends who went on the same rally and is managing ok on her own. It was their first trip this season they only got there on Thursday morning.
Anyway I've tried to be grateful for things today so here are mine:
1. Lovely hot bath followed by a slathering of my new Avon african shea butter body lotion - I smell divineand my skin feels soft.
2. Nice warm weather today & washing dried outside.
3. Being able to talk to Dad on the phone (and Mum too) so thankful for mobiles.
4. Making a chocolate cake & giving the children the bowl from the icing to scrape out - they're not too old yet
5. The friendliness of this site I have today been shown how to post links & so many people have sent me warm thoughts & good wishes.
I hope that everyone has a peaceful & relaxing easter doing something that they enjoy at some point.0 -
Hugs to wmf and Sunnygirl.
My pleasures today were hard to find, some days you just don't seem to find your rhythm do you, both my little ones were playing 'tinker tag' all day long and i felt like i was constantly picking up after DH, plus my lack of sleep was making me feel cranky- A lie in until 1030 today after a difficult night with DS, DH does have 'some' uses
- HM bread from my BM today
- Last of my HM banana bread for afternoon tea
- Spaghetti and Sauce for dinner, both bought for less than half price and stockpiled (our naughty/easy Saturday treat).
- Half price sweeties with our movie tonight.
Sleep well everyone
