Great day - the sun is shining and everyone seems happy. Hope you are all enjoying your Easter eggs :easter:and haven't eaten too many!!:embarasse

    1. Avoiding Easter Eggs despite the date! I'm desperately trying to lose a bit of weight before a reunion in 8 weeks and decided that OH could treat me to a new book instead (also managed to watch OH stuff his face with Victoria sponge whist we were out today without giving in to temptation). :silenced:

    2. Went to the garden centre and finally ordered the stones and slabs needed to finish our garden off. The best news is that being as it's not a bank holiday in Scotland they will be delivered in the morning for the reasonable cost of £4.:T:T

    3. With OH's help made a rockery and raked the area ready for slabs. By tomorrow evening our garden should be finished!!:T

    4. Did more OU study and plan to do a bit more reading tonight. Studying out in the summerhouse made it all the more enjoyable. Very pleased with myself as I'm really getting in to the course now and it almost makes it easier to do a bit every day.:A

    5. Grabbed half an hour to chill out on the bed and read my book. Lovely with the sun streaming in through the windows.

Kids back to school tomorrow so making the most of my last family day off. I don't actually go back to work until Tuesday so I might even have finished most things on my 'to do' list before I have to get back into the swing of things :hello:

    My five pleasures for today

    1. A very sunny day, so I actually relaxed in the garden for the first time in ages (as opposed to gardening/hanging the washing out/painting the bench)
    2. Watching my dd who is into her third day of chicken pox and alot better today, do her Easter egg hunt
    3. Cooking roast chicken and raspberry and apple crumble
    4. having a cry -this really was a release after being up several nights looking after dd and then ...
    5. Having an afternoon nap. bliss.

reverbe - I love Little Miss Sunshine and taped it so I can watch it again. I also recorded Persepolis to watch sometime.

Happy Easter all - hoping you have enjoyed your day.

    Mine for today:
    1. My faith
    2. Watching a wood pigeon, sparrow and blackbird all forage about in the garden, ignoring each other. The blackbird flew off with a beakful of tasties. They are nesting in the ivy & clematis between us & neighbours.
    3. Pruning some bushes and seeing the garden begin to look nicer.
    4. Sunshine and clothes drying outside - always smell so fresh.
    5. Knowing that DD and DS are meeting up tonight for chat and meal. The are both live from me in miles but are always close to my heart.

Wishing everyone a peaceful evening and sweet dreams tonight in the land of nod.

I've been feeling very down today due to my Dad still being in hospital in York & not being able to get over there but I have tried to enjoy the small things too.

    1. Sunshine all day that wasn't forecast :T

    2. Watching DD get ready to go to a party she looked so beautiful I could hardly believe she was mine - I know I'm biased I'm her Mum!

    3. Hugs from all four children when I've been down.

    4. Laughing at the dog (a soppy Beagle) sitting on a garden chair outside rather than lay on the cold, hard patio :rotfl:

    5. Getting up at 6am and enjoying some time by myself.

I hope that you have all had a good Sunday, however you've celebrated it, and have a pleasant evening ahead. I'm having a bath soon before my weekly fix of Desperate Housewives ;)
  • Haven't posted in ever such a long time - had a tough couple of weeks but as they say, things are hopefully on the up :j

Sunnygirl - my thoughts are with you ((((hugs))))

    My five for today:

    1. Catching up with the posts on here - this thread always lifts my spirits :D

    2. A beautiful, beautiful day - blue skies, sunshine, daffodils and blossom on all the trees

    3. Homemade Roast Chicken dinner :T

    4. Ds and dd still enjoying hunting for easter eggs, even though they are cool teenagers  :rotfl:

    5. A drive out in the car with dh around beautiful countryside - we are blessed to have stunning scenery on our doorstep

Take care everyone and Happy Easter xx

    Hello everybody :hello:

Hope we've all had a good Easter Sunday and now looking forward to an extra day off tomorrow - sorry about that for all our Scottish posters :( - but you make up for it with your extra day at New Year ;)!

Hope you dad's recovering now, Sunnygirl and that your mum is finding some comfort with her friends around her.

Hey, bella - what on earth did you think you were playing at! Bathrooms aren't quite the place for such acrobatics ;).

Hope the tonsilitis bug is well on it's way out now, scousewife - did you get anything off the icey-man to help ease it :D.

Well done all you gardeners - sounds as though you're getting everything into shape nicely now.

    My blessings for today:

    1. Baked a lovely rhubarb and apple crumble and some stewed apple for serving with evening meal.

    2. Finally got around to mowing the front/side lawn - phew! Two and a half garden waste bins full and squashed down. So, now where do I put the mowings from the rear lawn tomorrow ! Looks like I'll be borrowing a couple of garden waste bins from neighbours who don't garden ;).

    3. All laundry finished off and dried outdoors - it's been such a gorgeous day.

    4. Roasted Organic Leg of Pork (whoopsied naturally ;)), stuffing (SmartPrice with added sage and chives for extra flavour :)), mashed and roast pots, steamed mangey tuts and carrots for lunch. So full we haven't even touched the crumble :( - YET!

    5. I've had my box of Thorntons in the freezer all day - will be just how I like them by now !

    6. Made plans to take dgk's out next weekend to give their mother a break and also as a belated Easter treat - fun and games ahead for all :rotfl:!

    7. Enjoyed looking at a fabulous sunset this evening.

    8. Looking forward to an early night - got some aching bones that are in need of a little bit of tlc.

(((((big hug))))) to all who needs one - or just wants one :D. Nitey nite all  - love Ollie xxx
  • Hi everyone

Hugs to all that need them, especially Sunnygirl I hope your father has a fast track to full recovery. I Have found this forum has the most supportive and wonderful people in the world, they really do help you get through the bad days.

    My five

    1. Have just spent Easter at our holiday house on the cliffs above Lake Taupo, DS and family joined us, and we had a wonderful family time.

    2. OH went trout fishing two days in a row, and kept us supplied with trout. He appears to be getting stronger each day, and its a delight to see.

    3. Easter egg hunt with DGD (5) and DGS (2).

    4. Read lots of stories to the DGC, its wondefrful when they cuddle in and really, really listen hard.

    5. Arriving home to a rapturous welcome from dog and cat, and a much less enthusiastic hi from the chickens!

    Blessings be
    Jennie

A quick update for Sunday as I was back late and too tired after the drive to post...

    Easter Day blessings...

    1. Drives from home to DM and back were good, no hold ups on A1M, M25 M40 etc either way..makes a nice change

    2. Went to DB and DSiL for dinner, 17 of the family were there and I got to meet my little great-nephew (DGN?!)for the first time. he's now walking and chattering away so it wasn't before time!

    3. SiL came up trumps as always with a beautiful roast lamb and garden-grown veggie dinner prepared by herself with the help of my 2 lovely nieces. This was followed by an Easter Egg hunt in their 3 acre garden but it didn't take long for 17 of us to sweep it clean!

    4. DB and I got on really well, we've neither of us made much of an effort in the past so yesterday was lovely. Perhaps his heart and my lung prob have something to do with it, sad that it takes something like that to open people's eye but I've promised myself I will be more sociable towards him. Even if he doesn't reciprocate I know I'm keeping my side of the street clean

    5. DM was looking really well, if I'm like her at 87 I haven't gone far wrong. Lovely to be in her company, we have the same sense of humour and laugh a lot when we're together.

Now off to clean the m-WAY debris off my car so have a Happy Easter Monday everybody, and ((((hugs)))) all round.

Morning (or is it afternoon yet - computer time is reading 04.09 and I know that's not right!!).

Yesterday was another beautiful day. kaz665 I live in Scotland too and we are on holiday today. A lot of businesses are closed and we've had no post either. Schools (and me) are back tomorrow though.

    My pleasures yesterday:
    1. Going grocery shopping with DS and DD. DS took us in his car as mine needs taxing and my dh was away all day. DD paid for the shopping as I left my purse in dh's car - doh!! It was a nice suprise to get to the till and find out that I'd only spent £35 and I'd got enough food to last the week. I did forget toilet rolls though!
    2. Roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. For the very first time I bought a free range chicken. It was so tasty and there's loads left over. It cost a bit more than the other chickens but I'll probably get another 3 meals from it.
    3. I had the afternoon to myself so I settled down to some more crocheting while watching the DVD of the Elbow concert from Abbey Road. I've seen it a few times and it's still as exciting as when I first saw it on BBC.
    4. Me and dh took the dogs for a walk early evening. The sun was still shining and it was warm. I never tire of seeing the dogs running free and swimming in the loch whilst chatting to dh about all sorts of things.
    5. Watching Skellig and then Mma Ramotswe with a nice cool glass of rose.
Sunnygirl - I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he makes a full recovery soon.

kiwiblue - we lived in New Zealand for a year back in 1992 in New Plymouth. We visited Lake Taupo a few times and loved it.

    Have a nice day everyone.

*sigh* Not long until I'm back at work. In the meantime I'm trying to think positive and here are my five OS pleasures of today:

    1) Making the most of the oven by baking a weetabix cake and some healthy apricot bars in the same (but divided) cake tin.
    2) Having a nice conversation with my best friend about cooking and healthy eating
    3) Planning to get back into my cross stitch and hopefully get a step closer to finishing it.
    4) Getting the ironing done.
    5) Maybe working up to doing some exercise later - I don't know though

    Have a good day all
