    Hiya all

Im feelin better by the day which is a blessing in itself & good to see sunnygirl feeling better & mineallmine getting there. Hope the weather is nice this weekend for Primrose for her break to the seaside - I think all us sickies on here could do with some bottled sea air to make us better!

    Anyway my 5 pleasures for today;
    1) Waking up with my voice hurting less and feeling like I have a bit more energy - Its such an improvement!
    2) Signing the special delivery for post knowing it contained my husbands Wembley tickets & knowing how happy & relieved he would be that they had arrived. :footie:
    3) Sitting outside in the sunshine breathing in the fresh air and watching ds getting up to mischief playing with soil & my bunnies hopping about & running through their tunnel. :)
    4) Eating a potato cake for the first time in days - I haven't been able to recently due to sore throat & Ive really missed them so I applied extra butter & savoured every mouthful.
    5) Belly laughing when my ds asked me if it was ok for him to be naughty again because Im now better :rotfl: :rotfl: - He is such a character!

Glad lots of people are feeling better. (((((Extra hugs))))) to those who aren't.

Sparrer I can see that the 3/4" is essential :D When my sons were getting nearly as tall as me we added my height to their marks on the doorpost. When they weren't looking, my mark sneakily 'grew' by about an inch. They sussed it out, but for a while I had two heights: my real and my 'virtual' one. :D

    My five pleasures for Wednesday:

    1. Getting some letters written that had been on my 'to do' list for ages.

    2. Looking out of the kitchen window at a pot of flowers we've sorted out for my parents. Ages ago, they gave me a load of their large garden pots when they moved from a house to a flat. Two of the pots are now full of what looks like some very healthy. royal blue violets (if that's not a contradiction in colours!) that they must have planted. Our rhubarb plant came in a royal blue plastic pot so we've decanted a clump of 'violets' into it to give it back to my parents for their balcony. The plant looks stunning.

    3. Listening to DS2 talking to the police who called round today because some of the children in the street, including him, might have unwittingly witnessed a pre-planned theft of a vehicle while they were playing outside. DS2 sounded so polite, self-confident and articulate. It was really nice to hear the conversation.

    4. Pegging out a load of clothes washing at 5 o'clock. It was still warm outdoors and there was a bit of a breeze so I thought it was worth getting the clothes slightly drier before they had to come in. I forgot about them and collected everthing in the dark at about 8pm and the whole lot was bone dry. :D It was like a summer's evening.

    5. Even better, looking at the night sky which was totally clear. The moon was out and all the constellations were visible. It's great collecting laundry by starlight! I must do it more often. The neighbours must think I'm barmy. :D

    Sleep well everyone.

Happy to hear some of us are on the mend, good wishes to everyone who has yet to come up to par.

Broomstick more often than not I promote myself to 5 feet, my story is it takes less breath to say :rotfl:

    Wednesday blessings...

    1. Postie brought me my new duvet cover, that was quick, I only ordered it the day before yesterday! It's beautiful, much nicer than the picture so I'm doubly pleased

    2. Had a bit of a DIY day, 'mended' the loo roll holder which has been threatening to fall off the wall for weeks now. Tried superglue but it just soaked into the plaster so I wrapped the rawl plug with a thin layer of blutack and pushed it back in..so far it's holding even if it is only day 1

    3. Found a cream curtain pole which was too long but reduced in a sale a couple of weeks ago so I cut it down to size and now it's pefect. I just need the curtains to arrive now, then I can unpin the bath sheet from the window :D. I also hung the mirror I got from Furniture Link, the room is certainly pulling itself together now

    4. My microwave eventually went caput, I knew it was near its end, and have found I can get a basic one for now for about £25. Then I saw one advertised on freecycle so I'm just waiting to hear if I've been lucky :o . I object to the cost of running the oven so the microwave and steamer are my two most vital pieces of kitchen equipment. I did a roast this evening and filled the oven with a plum crumble, a mince plait and a shepherds pie so I don't feel I wasted too much electricity

    5. A lovely phone call from my DF in Rhodes, she's planning all sorts of adventures for my DGD and me when we go at the end of the month. I have to keep reminding her we're only going for a week!

Night night everybody ((((hugs)))) and sweet dreams

All you gardeners out there are putting me to shame - well done to you all! Maybe I'll get around to sowing some seeds this weekend - as long as I don't get any further distractions. That pot of violets for your parents sounds beautiful, Broomstick.

Good to hear that all you invalids are now on the mend! Lol at scousewife's ds - you tell him you're not that better, girl! Bet your OH is made up with his tickets :D.

Good luck with your chaos, PatchworkQuilt! But it will be all be worthwhile when it's finished - you're a brick to be coping with all that AND a guest - she sounds like a lovely young lady.

Enjoy your trip to the seaside, Primrose - hope the good weather holds out for you!

    My blessings for yesterday:

    1. What a beautiful day - so pleasant to be able to walk around outdoors without a jacket.

    2. Looks like we've (as in 'work' we) finally got a tenant for my empty bungalow - fingers crossed as this is the third viewing we've had for it.

    3. My tutorial was called off yesterday but I was able to e-mail my assignment to the tutor instead. She's coming to visit me next week instead. Not very OS but at least e-mail is freeeeeeeeeeee - so definitely MoneySaving ;).

    4. Panic stations when one of the tenants' smoke alarms went off and I couldn't get a response from him. Quick run to his property to investigate to find him fast asleep in his armchair, smell of horrible smoke coming from his property and alarm still screeching. Rang 999 and his daughter. Luckily daughter was round the corner and she arrived with keys ahead of fire crew. Chicken drumsticks in a pan of water on the cooker had burnt dry, place full of smoke and he'd taken his hearing aid out  before dozing off!!! WHAT A BLESSING we have these smoke alarms! That has now convinced him to have a keysafe fitted to the outside of his property so I can gain access quicker in emergency!

Later realised the subject of my assignment had been 'Handling an Emergency' :rotfl:!

    5. In the middle of all that, I got a visit from Calamity Jane with her brood (aka DD and dgk's). She needed to phone the Income Support people (only phone contact these days!) as she'd had a letter that they needed more information. Good to see that she also had a housing application in her hands, as it definitely looks as though the house will be repossessed at some stage. Her ex-OH told her that he's not paying the mortgage this month either! Dgk's all fed on various forms of eggy-bread as I didn't know they were coming and hadn't got anything out of the freezer.

Please God, let today be quieter ;).

Olliebeak - glad to hear your tenant was OK but this really shows the importance of smoke alarms and having a battery in them too, so often you hear that people have smoke alarms but no battery.

Hugs to those still feeling under the weather.

    1. Met an old school friend for lunch yesterday and had a good catch up natter.
    2. Walked to the shops this morning as I thought I needed a new watch battery. They checked it and said the battery was fine and watch is now working so saved me some money.
    3. Not very OS but very pleasurable, went into the seconds shop in town (they have the big names) and found a lovely paid of Principles summer trousers for half price.
    4. Walked back home in the sunshine.
    5. Making some cakes to take with us as we are away tomorrow for the weekend seeing some friends we used to live near and I know they love HM cakes.

    Hi all

Here are my five for the day:

1 - Went to the weight nurse, although no good news on the weight front the pleasure is that she will refer me to the fitness scheme through the GP surgery, this means that I shall only pay £12 per month gym membership and will be able to attend all classes! YIPPEE!!!

2 - Good aerobics class, thought I would not manage because still a bit of the cold is lingering, but once I started I found I had plenty of energy.

3 - EXCELLENT news at the PO Box, the charity I work for has had a fairly large donation! It is so good when it happens, especially because I have had such a long string of rejection letters (from funders) in the recent past.

4 - Walked from the PO box in Blackheath all the way home in the glorious sunshine.

5 - After lunch, instead of having regular tea I am enjoying a cup of fresh ginger, lemon and honey tea, what a lovely change!

Off to do some work now, have a good day everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I have my five for today!

    1) Walking along the seafront in the sunshine on my way home from meeting my friend in town

    2) Getting four eggs now my girls are all laying again!

    3) Making french loaves for lunch

    4) Potting on my cabbage and cauliflower seedlings

    5) Planning the meals to take with us to Center Parcs for Easter with the family. As a treat instead of Easter eggs, I have bought some mini eggs from Lidl and am making chocolate nests for the children.

    My five today:-

    1. Nice clean bedrooms.

    2. Lovely afternoon, been sat crafting with the back door open.

    3. Last of the cards made for this month's consignment. I love card-making but it's all been a bit frantic due to trying to meet my numbers early because I have a few appointments next week and then the Easter Holidays get in the way. Now they're all done:j

    4. Three cottage pies (of two servings each) made from 400gms of mince padded out with lentils and veggies.

    5. My wonderful DH is doing the washing up for me:T

Reverbe, didn't you love the Story of the Weeping Camel film? I thought it was soooo good, I told my (then) colleagues when I was still working as a doula, that it is a film on doulaing for camels! It was so sweet!

5 - I went a little mad, it is not terribly OS, but I ordered a bottle of organic perfume from Jo Wood online (also, after that horrible husband of hers run off with the russian waitress, I thought I'd do something sisterly for the woman - nothing like an excuse for a treat!).

Yes I loved it. Also re Jo Wood. I ordered a bag from her website and it came beautifully packaged with a ton of freebies in. I phoned them to tell them how impressed I was. They were really pleased to get good feedback as it was right at the launch of their products. They asked me for a quote to be used on their site so I really must someday.
