Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Evening all. These are our blessings for the last few days
1) A lovely day on Saturday - my postpned Mother's Day. We all had a long lie in, went to the pub for a lovely lunch, then sat by the fire all afternoon and watched a film together in the evening.
2) A huge box of chocolates from DD and DS and a handmade card
3) I made myself a washing line and two props from scraps and bits n bobs found in the garden
4) The generosity of friends - we have been offered three bags of logs and two of offcuts by different people. After our horrendous heating bill, this is very welcome.
5) The satisfaction of being able to give a tin to a friend who needs mouseproof storage and some bubblewrap and boxes to a friend who is moving soon0 -
My five for Monday:
1. Reading posts on here is such a lovely pleasure.
2. DS2 building a temporary shelf half way up two of the back windows so that we can double the number of seeds being germinated. He repotted the little tomato plants too.
3. Yet another visit from the council rat man who seems to think that the beasties have gone from the back garden :j and is now concentrating efforts on the hole at the front of the house (we live in a terrace).
4. Having a silly home-ed session doing some biology revision with sons where, to try to remember diagrams, we were making pictures on the floor with wool, tissues and beads. Hope it helped them remember - it helped me!
5. Getting yet more washing dried outdoors today. The weather is supposed to be fine tomorrow, and really sunny at the weekend in our bit of the country, so I'm planning to continue the big spring clean wash.
Sleep well everyone.0 -
Well done to Caterina's Bank Manager :T - what a lovely guy.
I bet your OH is happy to get those stitches out, Kiwiblue - they begin to get soooooo itchy after a while. It's good to hear that his recovery is continuing.
So much delicious sounding cooking/baking going on around here today - I'm beginning to .
I've had quite a good day in work today, so here goes:
1. Panic stations all round when folks realised that their c/h timers were out by one hour! I did warn them in a note last week when I reminded them to put the clocks forward an hour; and I promised to visit and sort them out where needed. This happens every year - so I don't know how come it's such a surprise to them when it happens once again.
BUT THEN ...................
2. Phone call from Calamity Jane (aka DD) with yet another problem  . Dgd2 (Caitlin) who stayed over at the weekend had taken a head-first trip down the stairs and needed a visit to the hospital. OH and I followed her up there to help with other two dgk's and give general support. Arrived to find her ex-OH (he who was bin-bagged a couple of months ago) already there. Nice as pie to everybody's faces but started getting gibes in when left alone with her . Result is that Caitlin has been kept in due to 'a whopping egg' on her forehead and I've got the other two dgk's here for the night. Uniforms stripped off them, washed and hopefully will be dry for morning. Tomorrow morning promises to be fun and games to get these two out to school by 8.45am lol!
Unfortunatley that's me done for the day- let's hope I can find some proper blessings for tomorrow
.

Kiwiblue really the only reason I support Oxford is that I was brought up in Henley, Oxfordshire, which is the home of the 'internationally renowned' regatta - not that everyone has heard of it . Excellent news about OH having the stitches out.
mineallmine I hope you get better very soon, if not sooner
ollie what a blessing your little DGD wasn't hurt any more than she was, bless her little heart. I hope she doesn't have concussion or any other nasty after effects. ((((Hugs)))) to you all
scrummy-mummy congratulations on your DH's first day in his new job, may this be the start of better times for you all
Monday blessings...
1. Feeling fortunate that the GP gave me a course of anti-b's and steroids to keep 'just in case', as my lungs have felt horrid and the cough has been back for the past day or two. Another infection on its way so this evening I was able to start the course of meds as I have them to hand, and hopefully I can nip it in the bud nice and early
2. My chest-of-drawers and dining suite arrived today, gave them both a good clean and as I was polishing one of the chairs I turned it upside down to do the rungs and saw the Ercol plaque...gosh, to think I got it for a song! It will be very well looked after
3. Postie brought me some lovely eco friendly facial wipes, thanks to the Freebie forum. I do like it when I can do even a tiny bit for the environment
4. Put some bits and bobs on freecycle, and one or two others for sale on the local swapshop. I've already have replies for three of the five items so my declutter is coming along, albeit slowly
5. Slept for ages this evening, thanks to the anti-b's I think, and woke up at 1.45am. Just time to write my blessings and wake up enough to go to bed :rotfl: . I'm blessed that I can think of five to be grateful for today, no matter what
Night night all, ((((hugs)))) and sweet dreams

Nice as pie to everybody's faces but started getting gibes in when left alone with her .
I have one of those too... nice as pie when other people are around, but then nasty and abusive when alone or via text... I am the devil incarnate as far as he is concerned. my youngest dd was trying to "balance" the other day and fell over and her cheek had a disagreement with the bookshelf... my ex saw the bruise a couple of days later and I got a whole heap of abuse... I have to really bite my lip!!
Anyway... pleasures... nice stuff...
1) getting loads of washing line dried over the weekend
2) having a roast at my daddys on Saturday yum!!!
3) taking my gorgeous DDs to the Farm on Sunday and seeing my youngest jump when one of the sheep baa'd REALLY loudly lol!
4) Having friends over on Saturday night, and being banned from the kitchen while one of them cooked a really sinful fry up for us all lol
5) Getting cuddles with my eldest dd yesterday morning as youngest slept in an extra half hour....
Thats me :0)

Hello everyone
Been out of action for the past few days as came down with tonsillitus, but Im beginning to feel better now - thanks for concern & well wishes x
Good to see that Kiwiblues OH had his stiches taken out. And nice to see that there are nice bank managers out there thanks to Caterina's post.Sorry to see Mineallmine is not feelin well - hope your better soon & hoping Olliebeaks dgd is ok too - bless her x
My pleasure for the past few days have been;
1) Having the NHS - what a fantastic service they provide - DH phoned 10.30am on sunday & was given a 12.30 appointment for myself & ds at a local docs with a very caring doc who prescribed penecillin to us both. :j
2) Having a wonderful supportive DH who took time off work & took care of the home plus cared for me, ds & 2 bunnies for the
past few days & never complained once.:A
3) Being able to watch 'grown up daytime tv' in bed - despite being ill it was most enjoyable. Watched This Morning, A place in the sun, deal or no deal & The Paul O Grady show - Plus Ive not had any CBeebies withdrawal symptoms!
4) Feeling well enough to get a shower & then getting into a freshly changed clean bed (courtesy of DH) - blissful.
5) Discovering that my DH has been feeding the bunnies with the bird seed that he mistook for rabbit food :rotfl: It did make me laugh & ok as the bunnies didnt seem to mind as they ate the lot!
Take care all x0 -
...........PS Olliebeak - would love the recipe for your parsnip and apple soup.
This is my third attempt today at posting this recipe - the posting gremlins have been playing me up . So here goes  .................
I used this recipe from Phil Vickery: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/curryparsnipsoup_71761.shtml
I had two very wrinkly apples sitting in the fruit bowl (OH would have chucked them out if he'd spotted them) so they were peeled, cored and cut into chunks, then thrown in with the onions, parsnips and curry paste mix in the pan to start off with.
I also used white onion instead of red, and home-made chicken stock instead of stock cube/water.
The soup was delicious and you can vary the amount/strength of curry powder to suit your own particular taste. I would recommend not using too much to start off with.
Good to know that you're feeling better (AND getting well looked after, scousewife!)
I've been very busy today, so haven't had much time to really catch up with all the postings. Will call back in again later in the evening to be more chatty.
Just wanted to say a BIG Thank You to everybody for your good wishes for Caitlin - she's now back home again and taking on the world and his mates!
Thank goodness today has been relatively quiet- phew. So here's some blessings for today:
1. Dgk's were both in school by 9.50am courtesy of OH and a taxi!
2. Phonecall from DD around 10.00am to say that Whiston Hospital had had quite enough of Caitlin and were chasing them both back home again. Apparently when the doctor did his rounds this morning, she was bouncing around in the cot and rattling the bars trying to get out - that's my girl!!!
3. Home-made Leek and Potato Soup for lunch.
4. Remembered to take some minced beef out of the freezer for evening meal - savoury mince using up some chopped leeks (the green bits!), carrots, swede, onions, lentils and couple of stock cubes. Will be served with mashed potatoes and sliced green beans (whoopsied to 10p last week and got 2 lots out of the pack!) Think that's our five-a-day in one meal!
5. Managed to get on with some paperwork for my job - long overdue, but it felt good to get it out of the way.
6. Made arrangements with a tutor for the course I'm supposed to be doing. Finally been told what my first assignment is meant to be, so that can get done this evening ready for tomorrow's meeting. I'll feel much better once that first assignment is sorted and know that the work is now underway.0
