    Hi all

Here are my pleasures for the day:

1 - My cold is much better and I went for a lovely walk in the sunshine.

2 - Something really nice happened to me today: I wanted to send a small donation via bank transfer to a charity in India (too small for web or credit card donations), I asked the bank manager re. cost to do this (expecting a small charge) and he said it is around £20 to £30. I said that this would prevent me from sending the donation because the charge would be just about more than donation itself, and he agreed to waive the charge! I know that banks are usually big bad monster, but in this case it showed that the human factor can be brought in, and I accepted gratefully (and was able to send a little more because of no charges). How lovely of the bank manager!

3 - Treated myself to a salmon salad from M&S for lunch, eaten on a bench in the sunshine. Bliss!

4 - My dispute with the Zest free gym month issue (see in consumer rights if you are interested) has resolved in my favour and now I can use the free month offer in the club of my choice without having to commit at all (as originally promised).

5 - DD and DS did some tidying and cleaning for me today so I came back to a nice neat house (which I had left in quite a disgusting state due to having been unwell over the weekend).

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    1. Got an email from Sky offering me free movies and sport for a month. Cheered me right up that did. Put a note in diary to cancel it in 30 days.

    2. Had leftover slow cooker chilli with potato wedges.

    3. Went for a walk in the field near my new place. Discovered a few shortcuts.

    4. Watched DVD from my collection I haven't seen for ages (Spy Game).

    5. Worked out that my hot water tank has a temp gauge. Turned it down to min, cos the water is scolding hot and must be wasting electricity.

Well done Caterina for getting the charges waived. It is lovely to hear that banks can be nice sometimes.

    Mine for today.
    1. Lovely relaxing yoga class this morning.
    2. Called in on friend to say hello, had a good natter and a cup of coffee.
    3. A walk in the sunshine this afternoon to see the osteopath who said I was OK to continue walking even though my sciatica is playing up. It seems worse when I sit still.
    4. Managing to finish digging over the garden and digging the clay out where we are going to have our veg patch - now need to order some decent topsoil.
    5. Ordering a book from the Book People for a present and even though I have paid P&P it is still less than half the price I saw it in the high street.
  • Good evening everyone. (((((Hugs))))) to all those with colds or to anyone else who needs a luv.

    Five for today:

    1. A good walk out today, I am definitely beginning to feel the benefit of a 30 min walk everyday :D

    2. Homemade Shepherd's Pie for tonights tea, enjoyed by all the family :T

    3. Being able to help out a friend's daughter., my good deed for the day.

    4. A shiny kitchen - you should have seen the dirt that I scrubbed out of my work surfaces  Although they are wiped everyday, they are porous and they don't have hold the dirt - but for today, the are pristine white :rotfl:

    5. Enjoying reading everyone else's posts.

Take care all and enjoy the rest of the evening.

    2. Making a batch of spicy beanburgers this evening.
    3. Getting to the gym this afternoon, so making use of my membership.

  • Hi everyone

Sparrer My son is a Cambridge grad, so the boat race will not count as one of my pleasures!
    However my five are

    1. Dh has had his stitches out (all 22), and is feeling much better.

    2. A friend has just dropped in a large box of fresh vegetables.

    3. Lots of visitors for DH yesterday, really does help boost the spirits, but I am going to have to start limiting them as he is very tired.

    4. Bought some very sad looking lettuce seedlings at a heavily reduced price and plan to plant them out today.

5.Researching some different ways to deal with the large number of carrots that have arrived on the doorstep

    Blessings be

    Jennie

Mineallmine - it's taken me years to find a foolproof yorkshire pudding recipe - the trick is using the same volume of eggs, flour and milk. I use half a cup of each (about 2 eggs) and get a dozen yorkshiresHTHTwig

Just popping in to say hello. Sadly I've had a poo few days :o right I'm off cos I'm all headachey! Things can only get better. :A

  • mineallmine - sorry to hear you're having a rough few days, sometimes it does seem that life seems to throw everything at you at once, hope you're feeling better soon :)

    My pleasures today were:
    1. Lying in the big bed with both my babies until 0900, DD watching tv whilst DS and i snoozed, it was heavenly.
    2. Drying my washing on the line, after retrieving a wet sock that DD stole and made me chase her round the garden for for ten minutes, she thought it was the best game ever and i must admit, it cheered up an otherwise boring chore.
    3. Taking DD & DS to the sueprmarket for our weekly shop, not partcularly OS but they were both very well behaved and i got lots of compliments which made me feel a whole lot better than any chocolate bar ;)
    4. Watching TV with DD whilst we waited for DH to get home from his first day at work and seeing how excited she was to see him. It will be nice one day to be the first person DH hugs when he walks through the door, but i'm happy to forgo the pleasure so that DD can have the privilidge.
    5. Being the last one up in the house at the unfeasably early hour of 2200, tapping away quitely and listening to DS snore beside me. Silence is golden :)
    Sleep tight all
