Quasar - i have two free tickets (a competition prize) that i can't use if you want to PM me. I would have pm'd you, but didn't want to appear stalker-ish LOL0

I've been reading this thread for ages and desperate to join in but wanted to catch up first. Hope you've got room for little ole me
My five today are- Feeding my 2 month old DS at 2am this morning and watching his milky smiles after, he then decided to have a little chat with me and although i do love my sleep, it's lovely to have these private moments as am all too well aware that DD's first two years passed so quickly.
- Drying my kiddiwinkles washing outside, i love hanging out their teeny tiny clothes.
- DH being offered a job to start Monday after being made redundant a month ago. Not paticularly OS but because these boards kept me going over the past month knowing that others are worse off than i and that from this thread i could manage if i was resourceful enough. Thank you.
- Attending the church playgroup (£1 entry for 2 hours entertaining for DD, including free juice for her and tea for me and biscuits for both of us).
- Introducing DS to all my playgroup friends and being proud that not only is he such a handsome chap, but a well behaved one too.

Hey kiwiblue - great that you and OH are able to go for a short stroll together again.
jvs - shopping in Wallasey and Ellesmere Port eh! Not the Outlet Village by any chance. My sister (and DM) lives in Liscard
.
Broomstick - love the sound of your pigeons on the fence. Something that we've not had much of since moving here - think Tiggy-Tiger put the birds off coming to our garden! I know pigeons are almost considered to be vermin, but I do think they are such beautiful creatures with their gorgeous coloured plummage.
Sounds like you've had a very busy and 'profitable' couple of days, Caterina.
My five for today are:
1. Had a wonderful full night's sleep last night - makes quite a change for me! Didn't even need to get up to go to the loo!!
2. Lovely porridge for brekkie with some Plantation sugar on the top (very toffee flavoured ). http://thefoodielist.co.uk/wp/plantation-reserve-sugar/ - currently 50p a pack in HomeBargains!!!!!!!
3. HM Leek and Potato Soup (from the depths of the freezer) and crusty bread for lunch today.
4. Sat with one of my lovely ladies for a couple of hours today as she wasn't well and was waiting for the GP to visit - then went for her prescription afterwards. She phoned me later, in tears, to say thank you as she'd been worried about how she would get the scrip filled. I have to admit that while I was sitting there, I was thinking of all the 'other jobs' that I could have been doing - so her gratitude made me feel all the more embarassed and angry with myself.
5. Evening meal of roast chicken leg quarters, red peppers stuffed with Moroccan-style Couscous and courgettes. OH barely left the green stalks of the peppers and chicken bones on his plate - so I guess that went down a real treat.
6. Found the final chunk of last weekend's Lemon Drizzle Cake which did OH and myself as a dessert. Not often we find the last piece of anything in this house - DS1 has built-in radar !
7. Found a couple of very large, wrinkly parsnips lurking in the fridge and some more chunks in the freezer. Have just made a pan of Spicy Parsnip and Apple Soup and it smells delicious. Waiting for it to cool down before giving it a blitz and putting into the fridge for tomorrow's lunch.
8. Phone call from DD asking me to have dgd2 (Caitlin) tomorrow and overnight to Sunday. Since she split from her OH, I've hardly seen Caitlin and have really missed our 'Narnie and Caitie outings' to the village as her Daddy has been taking her and dgs1 for the weekends.
9. Found a couple of heads of celery in the fridge drawer - maybe a pan of Celery Soup getting done in the morning.
That's about me done for this evening. Hope you all have a good night's sleep - I'm going for a cup of hot chocolate and a couple of chapters of my book.
Nitey nite -for everybody from Ollie xxx

Olliebeak - We went to Liscard to the Cherry Tree shopping centre - love it there as the people are so friendly. No shopping in Cheshire Oaks this time!
Have a great weekend

DM does a couple of shifts a week in the Oxfam shop in Liscard (opposite Wilkos on the main road) - keeps her out of mischief :rotfl:.0 -
welcome scrummy-mummy, good to have you on board. What lovely memories of when my now taller-than-me offspring were babies you brought back
Kiwiblue and OH I was so happy to hear about your walk, what wonderful progress
Friday blessings...
1. For somebody who is supposed to be leading a quiet life it's been a very full day and I've enjoyed all of it
2. Met DD for coffee after my dental appt this morning, we went to a newly opened coffee shop in her town where we paid over £8  for a tea, a coffee and and two slices of rather uninteresting cake. I complained that Earl Grey should never have hot milk in it and got a refund. Next week we're going to the local bakery which has a much better selection of goodies in their little teashop
3. Bought four bunches of roses, a balloon, a book and a very appropriate birthday card for a dear friend whose birthday is today. I also bought myself two bunches of daffodils for £1, a light shade for my small bedroom, and a rather cheap and tatty dining suite in the local Furniture Link store which is being delivered on Monday and will be stripped and painted cream to match my kitchen.
4. DNeighbour invited me in for a cuppa this pm, she'd found some photos of our holiday on the IoW two years ago which we'd forgotten all about. Looks like we had a great holiday!
5. Visited my friend and her partner with the roses, balloon etc, this evening, stayed for tea and cake and got home at 10.30pm when I promptly fell asleep for an hour and a half.
and an extra one today, 6. Thanking my lucky stars I'm able to do these things today, and I have such a marvellous family and friends to enjoy them with.
Night night everybody, sweet dreams

Hi scrummy-mummy :hello: and welcome to this thread. Sounds like you've got your head screwed on - you'll be an asset.

I can't believe that I missed scrummymummy's post last night - :hello: welcome to you and your ds & dd
. My [strike]days[/strike] nights of sitting up till silly o'clock with a wideawake baby are long gone - but they do linger there in the distant memory. No all night telly back then to keep yourself amused while trying to get the little [strike]blighters[/strike] angels settled again - one of mine was born in 73 and we even had 10.00pm TV closedown for a while!!! Seem to remember dgd1 (now 11) being a 'midnight-moocher' though and I would watch reruns of Prisoner Cell Block H at 3.00am when she stayed over . But oh that sense of pride with a line full of white nappies blowing on the line and a row of lovely baby clothes - now that bit I do envy you for
. Congratulations on OH finding a job - looks like things could now be on the up for you and your family. Playgroups are wonderful for both mums and babies - that's where they first meet the friends that they will eventually go to nursery/school with and very often where they first learn to 'share'; it's also where many mums get most of their support network from and are often undervalued by many people.

My mother would have been behind that counter giving them a lecture they would never have forgotten. Makes you wonder where some of these staff are taught how to serve the customer - but congratulations on your refund :T - makes it worthwhile!

Welcome to scrummy-mummy - I too along with many other people I am sure have found this site to be so helpful with so many things. Really pleased that your OH has been offered a job.
Olliebeak - I love the sound of your porridge with the Plantation Sugar - must try and get to Home Bargains in Prenton or Birkenhead later today and see if I can get some, haven't seen it but then again haven't been looking. Have been in that shop 3 times this week "just for a browse" and come out with loads of stuff each time.
1. Ringing around family as I am trying to organise a get together for everyone other than when we meet up at weddings or funerals. (We enjoy each other's company but don't get together often enough) and everyone being available the weekend I am organising it. Just now need to get it all booked.
2. Spent a couple of hours with dad in his garden again so it is now looking really tidy.
3. Sorting the freezer and finding stuff I had forgotten about so a very small spend needed this week.
4. Making a cake for the owner of one of our local shops for his son's birthday. I then get fresh local food for a special meal in return.
5. My housework all done so we can have an easy day today.0 -
Just popping on to say hi to scrummy mummy:hello: - congrats on OH's new job, that'll be a big relief for you. I remember my own dh being out of work when ds and dd were babies, I wasn't working at that time and it is amazing how resourcesful you can be when you really have to. You also brought back many memories of night-time feeds - my ds in particular was a night owl  He didn't sleep through until he was 3 years old  little darling, not!!0
