Just seen that the forums will be closed next weekend from Friday to Sunday! I know they have to do upgrades but I will so miss this thread next weekend. Let's hope all goes to plan and it is back up and running by the end of the weekend.0

Gosh, whatever will we do to fill those odd spare moments without the forums?
Just think of all the dusting, ironing, hoovering, gardening and cooking that we'll have to do. We're all going to return exhausted when they open up again.:rotfl:0 -
Oh No!! I'll get withdrawal symptoms  and dishpan hands  and a clean car  and maybe even a mown lawn  (now now sparrer, let's not go over the top :rotfl: )0

Hi chaps! Ours for today are
1) Spending a day organising our upstairs cupboard
2) Letting go of some books and other bits and bobs to the charity shop. It needed doing but it was so hard. Feel better now
3) DS bringing his friends home from school
4) Chat with DD in the kitchen as I cooked for tonight
5) Chocolate trifle for later (Baileys in the bottom!)
Have a lovely evening, everyone0 -
Evening all,
Good to see lots of newbies. Hello to them and all the regulars and the lurkers (sometimes it's good to lurk too). So:
1. Getting reserved items from the library (barefoot contessa recipe book, her life is amazing)
2. Doing a horrible task this morning I'd been putting off
3. Nipping into Waitrose to get my favourite pop - Barr's old fashioned cream soda (in a glass bottle!), on offer for £1, my tame version of "wine o'clock"
Ooh, that's all for now.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks

Good morning all
My five are:
1. DS and family are visiting, great to see them, and they think OH is looking much better than they had expected, great for morale.
2. Oh and I walked as far as the letterbox yesterday, about 100 metres to the end of our driveway, so thats great progress.
3. Made cottage pie for dinner last night and it went down really well.
4. DGS and I are sitting in the lounge, each with our own laptop, not too unusual, but he is only three!
5. DS taught me how to download music onto my ipod, so I can do housework while listening, great stuff
Blessings be

Hi all
What, no thread over the weekend? What am I going to do with all that free time on my hands?:rotfl:
So good to see so many new people joining in, welcome all!
EDITED TO ADD: just seen your post, Kiwiblue, good to hear that your OH is getting better!
Yesterday I missed posting because I was out all day but here are my pleasures for yesterday:
1 - Went to the Vitality Show with a free ticket courtesy of a lovely MSEr (thank you again!) and met with her there.
2 - The freebies all over the Vitality Show, food, massage, health assessment, info etc.
3 - A wonderful thing happened to me there: I met with a woman who had done me a facial assessment at the same show last year, then I saw her again in St Pancras station (in April last year) where she was doing free treatments and as she was really cold I got her a cup of coffee. This year she recognised me and hugged me, and to thank me for having taken care of her she gave me a free facial!!! I was really moved by her kindness and the fact that she remembered me!
4 - 3 x show goodie bags (went back "in disguise" ), gave away 3 x shower lotions (because I don't use them) and came back home with millions of little bags of pretzels, pens and samples.
5 - The sheer pleasure to come back home after a great day and fall exhausted but happy into bed, to read all the freebie magazines, with a nice cup of tea.
And now for today's pleasures;
1 - Again, courtesy of the same wonderful MSEr friend, another free ticket for another show: La Dolce Vita (all about Italian food and stuff).
2 - Meeting my friend there and introducing her to some amazing foods (all freebie samples of course!)
3 - Also courtesy of my friend, a voucher for free buffalo mozzarella and meeting the people who sell it who were truly nice and lovely, they even gave me a handful of Italian cherry tomatoes to take away with me to make the salad!
4 - Speaking Italian with all the stall holders, it was great fun (and being ogled by a lot of the men, I had forgotten how Italian men are and I really did not object at all! :rotfl: It must be the age....;) )
5 - In one stall I was chatting with one woman who wants to start an import business of organic Italian produce in the UK, so I gave her a lot of info about organic veg box schemes, wholesalers etc, and in gratitude she gave me a pack of chick peas and a pack of lentils. How lovely!
6 - The pleasure of being back home, again!
Good night all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
1) Opening all windows wide and let the crisp breeze freshen up my flat - no need for air freshner or anything, as I kept them open most of the day (wearing a fleece, LOL)
2) Cooked my quorn and pasta without any oil. I found that it would take me a bit to get used to it, but it tasted fine, so that's a little saving although I wouldn't do it every time.
3) I wanted to treat myself to some new DVDs but when out shopping this morning I saw, in a charity shop, a video (yes VIDEO) - Elizabeth the Virgin Queen. I like historical films and I saw it ages ago. I still have an old video player, so I bought the film - 50p!
4) Sorted out winter versus summer clothing and found a pair of trousers that I forgot I had which fit me perfectly. So that's an item less I have to buy for the spring/summer.
5) Have put no heating on at all today - rather chilly, but my fleece jacket and warm socks are holding out well.
Ohhh Caterina where is this Dolce Vita show? I want to go too and speak our lingo as well with the men...I don't mind paying! OMG I sound desperate! :rotfl:
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Kiwiblue - good to see you posting again and glad to hear that things seem to be going well for OH.What, no thread over the weekend? What am I going to do with all that free time on my hands?:rotfl:
Caterina - it isn't this weekend that we have no thread but weekend of 3rd April so we still have another week left.0
