Five OS Pleasures in your day today
Comments

Yup - quite agree - though I do lurve chocolate with nuts in  and it just has to be freezing cold! I actually hide mine underneath the veggies in the freezer - dk's/dgk's wouldn't dream of touching a bag of sprouts or cauliflower
.
Oh yes Olliebeak, definitely best straight from the freezer. It also grates better frozen if you want it for cake decoration or cappuccino. I like your subterfuge re the sprouts
((((Reverbe)))) hoping things start to look up for you again very soon
Caterina not such good news about your eye but very good news that it can be repaired easily. Eyesight is so precious, thank goodness you sought advice as soon as you thought something was wrong
Monday blessings...
1. Postie brought me lots of lovely samples today, shampoo, toothpaste, mouth wash, face wash, aloe vera gel and Omega 3 capsules...all in one envelope
2. Had a very lazy day today, doing the minimum of everything after yesterdays activities. Read another chapter of Friday Nights by Joanna Trollope. I like her books as I can pick them up and put them down at any point, she's so easy to read.
3. I was very grateful to see the rain as everything was beginning to dry out after last week's warm weather. But that's enough now thank you, more sun tomorrow please
4. I think my daft dog is going vegetarian! I dropped some cooked veggie peelings (which I'd boiled to make veggie stock with) and he wolfed them down before I could stop him. Strange creature, but if that's what he wants to eat, a little at a time, I shan't discourage him
5. DD phoned, my DSiL has a terrible chest infection and is on anti-b's but DGD1's sinus infection has cleared up as had DGD2's ear infection. What a family!
Night night everyone, sweet dreams

(((((Reverbe)))))
Sparrer - when I was a child, our dog used to steal the uncooked veg from the delivery box and hide things (particularly potatoes) in her bed under her blanket. One year she got into real trouble because she dug up a chunk of the vegetable garden and helped herself to the entire carrot crop
My five for Monday:
1. Dealing with the aftermath of our car being bumped yesterday - everyone has been so kind and helpful. We were stationary at a roundabout and a driver ran into the back of us (he acknowledged it was his mistake straight away). There seemed to be no serious visible dents in our car - his seemed to come off much worse and I didn't think I'd need to claim but I took the car into the garage today to check and it turns out that the bounce-back bumper is hiding damage underneath and it's going to cost quite a bit to fix. (Not on our insurance though.)
2. Sewing up the slippers I knitted ready to put them into the washing machine to felt them. It's going to be a fun experiment because I have no idea how much my handspun wool will shrink. At the moment the slippers are pretty huge!
3. Catching up with watching the latest episode of Monty Hall's Scottish crofting experiment - nice escapist stuff!
4. Sorting out loads more work-related paperwork.
5. Having an unexpected interim visit from the council rat man who came to check on bait that got put down a week or so ago by his colleague. No sign of any rats but he topped things up and will be back next week. He was really helpful in answering my questions.
Car-crashes, knitted-slippers, escapist-crofting, paper-mountains and rats! Sums up my life completely at the moment - what a really peculiar day's worth of pleasures.0 -
Sorry to hear about your eye, Caterina - hope it's not long before the hospital can do something about it for you.
Hi Reverbe, as a Liverpool supporter, I too would like to congratulate (and thank) Fulham :T on beating Man U at the weekend - there were lots of us cheering your boys on.
(((((Hugs))))) for kaz665 - hope you've soon seen the end of your bugs. It's taken me about 5 weeks to shake my cold off. Saturday was the first day I'd been able to take a breath deep enough to fill my lungs and it felt soooooo good.
Bad news about your car being bumped yesterday, Broomstick. But at least the other guy immediately admitted liability - did you have a witness to what he said?
Blessings for yesterday, hmmmmm let's think now:
1. It was a blessing that my bins didn't get blown away down the road while waiting for the binmen to empty them. Had to get them back in again the minute they were empty though - our estate was littered with the things all day and people just picking up the nearest ones in the end!
2. Visit from DS1 in the morning for our usual cuppa and catch-up session! He's just moved in with his g/f and is having today off work to 'sort out the house'! I think she's in for a bit of a 'wake-up call' (and so is he lol)!!!
3. Total no-spend day yesterday and evening meal was the remains of sunday's roast chicken with pasta and sauce.
4. Remembered to put the chicken carcasse in the freezer to join one from the week before. One more and I'll be making chicken stock.
5. Remembered to take out some Pea and Ham soup for lunch today.
I'll pop back during the day to catch up with everybody else's blessings.
love Ollie xxx0 -
Just popping by to say I'm laughing so much at the antics of your dog Broomstick..thanks for starting off my day with some good humour :rotfl:
So sorry to hear about the car though, even if you didn't feel much damage was done at the time I know it's a horrible shock and I hope you're both okay.
Back later with my 5, I can feel a good day coming on0 -
Monday's pleasures:-
1. Rain starting as I was plucking the washing off the line instead of half an hour before.:j
2. An afternoon sleep.
3. DH making £23 on my card sales at work yesterday.:T
4. Making a cottage pie from much stretched mince and the family enjoying it.
5. Hugs from DGCh'n - the high-light of my week.:kisses:

5. My bathroom mat set from Aldi, been looking for a set for ages - it's is a bit fluffy though. Might damp them down and give a spin in the tumbler drier.

Hope you are over the shock of your car accident Broomstick - hugs to you also.

2) reading your posts which cheered me up.
3) h/m quiche for tea.
4) extra cuddles from my poorly ds.
5) making sock puppets to cheer ds up (Its amazing what fun can be had with an old sock, googly eyes & bits of felt )
take care all x0 -
Kiwiblue - hope you and OH are settling back into home life again and things are improving for you.
Karriebee - hope the first day in your new job went well.
Olliebeak - hope you are now feeling better
Mine for the last couple of days
1. Enjoying lovely weather in London whilst visiting DS and reading Olliebeak and Scousewife's posts about the miserable weather at home (I am in the North West too).
2. Getting all my weekend washing done, out on the line early this morning.
3. All above washing now ironed and ready to go away.
4. Catching up on the posts for the last few days.
5. EON calling as promised this morning so that we now have hot water and heating again, although the heating is not needed today, the house was quite cold to come back into last night.
Hugs to all who need them and hope you weren't hurt in your car bump Broomstick0 -
Hi all
Reverbe, some days it is difficult to feel positive but you are doing great just by coming here and putting your pleasures in! I hope you feel more cheerful soon (((HUGS)))
Sparrer and Olliebeak thank you for good wishes re. my eye, it is actually WELL! (see blessings).
Broomstick glad you weren't hurt in the car accident and that the issue seems to be resolved.
Re. animals eating weird things etc: one of my cats loves bananas! He is really a weird eater, he will eat the strangest things, provided he can beg them off his humans (I don't think that a bowlful of banana and peanut butter sandwiches would do him as dinner, somehow!).
My five pleasures for the day:
1 - Went to Moorfield Eye Hospital, fully expecting of having my eye lasered (and was quite scared!). Seen by consultant (young, Indian, gorgeous!) who said that it is not a tear, just a small scar and that there is no need to laser it - will check me up in 6 weeks time just in case but seems that my eye is ok, just floaters which are normal at my age *sigh*!
2 - Lunch with DS, lovely healthy tuna, beans, lettuce and tomato salad.
3 - Visited my friend and had a cup of tea and a homebaked cake.
4 - DD brought me a cup of tea and couple of biscuits while I was working
5 - Just received a text to say that tonight sewing class is cancelled, which is great because I could really not be bothered (but would have gone out of a sense of duty), will spend time with DH instead.
Have a great evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi to everyone & I hope that you've had good days with some small pleasures in. My 5 for today are:
1. Waking up half an hour before the alarm & laying quietly listening to the radio before I started the day.
2. The sun was out until 4pm which was longer than predicted & my washing dried.
3. Laughing with my husband over a silly joke.
4. Looking forward to seeing my best friend tomorrow. She's been very very busy recently with work & I have been adjusting to increasing the family so our time together is becoming ever more precious.
5. The bamboo that I thought had died has got tiny little shoots coming from it, despite been blown around in the fierce wind yesterday.
Have a good evening everyone xxx0
