It's been another lovely day here, as it seems to have been for most. Poor Olliebeak, I certainly hope it brightened up for you

    Saturday blessings...

    1. Went to Mr A for some bits this morning, they were selling Mothers Day balloons so I bought one to take to DM tomorrow. A girl in the queue had two and as they were £2 each or 3 for £5 we put them together and saved some pennies ;)

    2. Delighted to know that unlike florists, the supermarkets (well Mr A anyway) don't put up the price of plants and flowers for Mothering Sunday. Got DM a bunch of daffs with 100% extra free for 97p, and an healthy, bushy azalia for £4.99.

    3. Had a lovely surprise visit from two friends this afternoon, one has just bought a very posh convertible car which they took me for a spin in. Amazingly it wasn't anything like as cold as I'd imagined it would be, and great fun. It's a real head-turner which drew a lot of attention in the main street of our village :o

    4. Postie brought me two sachets of hot chocolate, one plain, and one mint which I gave to DNeighbour as I'm not keen on choc and mint together

    5. Sitting here with the plain hot chocolate while watching Shania, the film of her rise to fame. Love her songs

    Night night everyone, sweet dreams

  • Our Saturday blessings are

    1) Having a lie in. Sometimes, you really do need to catch up
    2) Chatting in the street to one of our neighbours. He's just come back from Barbados but actually, I don't envy that. It's lovely here in a very British way
    3) Using my SC to make the main meal for this evening, so that all I had to do today was make a fruit salad and wash some lettucey things
    4) Having our next-door neighbours round for a meal and introducing him to the delights of Mingles.
    5) The fire is still glowing in the bottom of the stove. Very comforting.

Sleep well everyone and Happy Mother's Day tomorrow

    Hiya all
Its nice that most of you are still enjoyin the nice weather - But the sun has been hiding here today ( I only live down the road from Olliebeak) - fingers crossed it will brighten up tomorrow.

    Anyhow my 3 for today are;
    1) My dh taking our ds downstairs for his breakfast & letting me have a lie in this morning.
    2) Finally getting time to fill the shelves inside the wardrobes in the spare room - All the bedding, towels, bath mat sets, baby items, shoes & handbags are now neatly put away behind the mirrored sliding doors - The place now seems so spacious & I feel so organised!
    3) Whilst sorting through all the junk I came across photo's that I had forgotten about which brought back good memories & smiles.

Enjoy the rest of your weekends xxx

    My five for Saturday

    1. We've also been some of the lucky ones weather-wise, so the sunshine and the washing drying on the line have reached the number one slot on my list, yet again. Am now starting to tackle the washing that gets done less frequently eg throws, coats etc because it's so quick to dry which is great.

    2. Getting to the garden centre and stocking up on more compost, grow bags, a garden sieve (our old one died), cheap fleece and netting (to keep hungry pigeons at bay), and a rhubarb plant. Good to get it sorted in one go.

    3. Doing a deal with DS1 that he could watch all three rugby matches today on the telly in the kitchen in exchange for him giving the kitchen a very good clean. He made a really fab job of it all and was very happy (apart from Wales' result). So am I even though I loathe rugby!

    4. Getting our local writers' newsletter in the post this morning.

    5. A big mug of hot chocolate while I've been typing this.

    Sleep well.
  • Hi everyone,

DH and I are back home again, and now the adjustment to a new lifestyle begins.
Thanks so much for the caring and thoughtful messages, they have really meant so much to us both, and have helped make a very difficult time a lot more bearable.
The operation was a success, and we are hopeful that we can now look forward to a future that was very uncertain just this time last week.
We are both desperately tired, but I had to come on here to say thanks.
    Cheers
    Jennie

Welcome back home again, kiwi and dh - great news for you both. Hope you both managed a good sleep - there's nothing quite like your own bed!

cooeeee, scousewife :hello: - things look a little better for us this morning! From my back bedroom window, I can see almost all the way to town - but only because there's a demolition site behind my house!

Sparrer - I thought I was the only one who doesn't like choc and mint together  cos everybody else seems to think I'm daft. I love choccie and love mint - just NOT together lol! Love the sound of your 'convertible drive' - many years ago, a friend and I did that thing where you sat on the back with your feet on the seat of the car. Looked quite glamorous in films back then but was actually very uncomfortable and you had to hang on tight for your life  - we were very happy when the driver stopped the car lol.

Well done on all who have managed to get some freebie seeds over the past week or so - fingers crossed that they all come up for you :). Going to try to get some of mine in later today - got quite a few leftover from last year that I resealed very carefully.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums out there - I'm going to have to wait another couple of hours before I can phone mine ;) - she'll be enjoying a lie-in for a bit longer. Expecting my three (plus dgk's) later - hope we've got enough cake to go around  - maybe I've got time to make something else before they arrive ;).

I'll check in again later with my own blessings for the day :D.
