Thrifty have you tried Mr S Basics? They do 2 versions of Kitkat/Blue Riband thingies - one chocolate and one caramel. Only about 45p for 5 or 6 and almost as good. I don't eat a lot of biscuits tbh but I always fancy something sweet after the beers and butties and savoury stuff on footy days. So I got these cos they are sweet and cheap and individually wrapped so I can sling it in my bag and not end up buying chocolate - tho that's not quite so bad as we no longer go to the pub with the selling out shop next door as the pub prices are astronomical now. We go to the local Catholic club which is run by a friend of a friend and has cheap beer and special offers and sometimes we end up getting things free like bottles of soft drinks, crisps, pens and cheese, mini cheddars and pickled onions on the bar :D

    Evening all,

yawn2.gifAm feeling quite tired this evening, can tell it's towards the end of the week and so even more reason to reflect on the good stuff.

    1. Fly-lady the upstairs rooms today, they look so much better
    2. Doing a snack of egg on toast
    3. Speaking to a friend today
    4. Donating my unwanted clutter to others who welcome the stuff with open arms
    5. Wearing sunglasses today
    6. Seeing leaves on the neighbours trees
    7. Replacing one of the energy saving bulbs in the hallway and knowing how much longer they last than ordinary ones

:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Less things. Less stuff. More life.

    Hi everyone
    My 5 for today are;
    1) The nice weather continuing & allowing me to wear different clothes instead of the usual woolies.
    2) Going to a new NHS resource centre & being treated by a friendly & sympathetic nurse & doctor - Instead of being a potentially stressful situation it was nice & stress free.
    3) Spending a couple of hours away from ds - allowing me a bit of quiet thinking time during the day for a change.
    4) Having my supportive dh with me today - he is always there for me when I need him & I feel truly blessed to have him.
    5) Playing football with my ds in dm's garden - He has a crackin left foot & an anticipated pleasure is that he will 1 day play for EFC (early days I know considering he is only 2 - but I can dream)

    Nite all xx

My five for this sunny Thursday:

    1. Getting notification in the post of royalties being paid into my bank account, all because I'd bothered to fill in the paperwork I'd been putting off for ages.:D

    2. Having a day sorting out finances and finding a work cheque I'd forgotten to bank. :D

    3. Recycling and shredding lots more paperwork.

    4. Getting a literary festival catalogue in the post this morning - a very enjoyable read in its own right. I don't know if I'll be able to afford to go to anything this year but I'll see if I can make some savings somewhere so that I can afford to buy tickets.

    5. Collecting armfuls of DS1's sun-dried washing from the line late afternoon. It smelled absolutely delicious!

Off to sort some more paperwork while half-watching something on iplayer - not sure what.

    Sleep well x

PS. and I've popped back here again briefly just before going to bed and realised that this was my 100th post - crikey!

    13. Listening to some music and some of it electricity cost free due to noisy neighbours!

Lol reverbe I do understand, my next door neighbours have 2 teenage daughters who like the neighbourhood to share their type of music...when Mum and Dad are out, of course

    Thursday blessings...

    1. A neighbour's husband started on the small bedroom today, had lots of filling to do as the walls and ceiling were parting company, and did all the while paintwork. Still have the walls to be done tomorrow but it's made a huge difference already

    2. Went to the diy store to buy the paint and came home with a 4 foot cream curtain pole for £5.99, reduced from £14.99 as it was the end of a line :D

    3. Got all the bedding dry on the line on this lovely sunny breezy day

    4. DNeighbour asked me to keep an eye on her DD then came in for a cuppa after her jog this evening, we laughed about the boyfriends we had way back when (bearing in mind I'm now over 60 and she's over 40) I swear we came from the same mould as our antics were so similar ;)

    5. Had a phone call from DS this afternoon asking if he and his GF can have my dining suite for their new home. I do need to let it go as it's far too big for me now (it seats 8 without the extension) but I was loathe to sell it or give it away. I'm so pleased it will stay in the family as it holds many very happy memories of family meals, parties, my DD learning dressmaking, DS with his cars and train sets, endless jigsaw puzzles, doing homework together and so on...:)

    Night night everyone, sweet dreams

  • Thank you very much everyone for your kind thoughts. I am back to have the thumb redressed tomorrow but it feels much better.

    Mine for today are

    1) DS has learned how to do a Rubik's cube, using YouTube. He gets his brains from his Dad.
    2) Having my hair done. I go to a local salon which is nothing fancy in terms of decor but the price is right and they do a lovely job
    3) A meal made entirely from leftovers for tea. The trouble is that we have some left over.
    4) Mum ringing up and arranging to come over for tea on Sunday. She so rarely comes, so it will be a real treat
    5) Meeting DH to choose some laminate. Not terribly exciting but it means we are making progress on our makeover and that is important.

    Sweet dreams everyone

Hello everybody - hope we're all having a beautiful morning :). Can't believe I almost overslept this morning :o.

I notice that we've got even more regular posters joining us. Haven't had chance to catch up on all the names but (((((((welcome hugs)))))))) to you all.

    1. Decided to make another apt to see the GP yesterday as the one I saw last week said I had a 'viral thing' and wouldn't give me anything. This time I saw my own GP, was told that I've got a chest infection and came away with antibiotics. Still a bit of coughing last night which is why I nearly overslept. Another couple of days should see some improvement.

    2. My bungalow viewing yesterday was called off as the person decided that he didn't want to live in this area :( - oh well his loss. I've got a lovely couple in a flat that really need to be moved into groundfloor, so I'm hoping that they get next refusal.

    3. Another SOS phone call from DD - she of the serial mishaps! Managed to find an hour to help her with some shopping. She's finally put in a claim for Income Support but it will be a few days before she gets any money (I DID warn her it would take a while!) - at least the dgk's will now get free school meals instead of her having to provide packed lunches. The blessing of that shopping spree was that she was so sensible about what she was putting in the basket - looks like she's finally had the 'penny drop' :D. Took her for coffee/cake/chat afterwards which I know she really appreciated.

    4. Lamb's liver, cabbage, mashed pots and fried onion gravy for evening meal last night - soooo tasty and very OS!

    5. Visit from DS1 yesterday evening - he managed to fix an annoying problem that I've been having with the comp for a couple of weeks. What would we do without them, eh ;)!

I'll pop back in during the day and catch up with everybody's postings :D.

Morning all and welcome to the new posters.
    Yesterdays for me:
    1. Going to Home Bargains and managing to find lots of bits to take to DS when we visit him in London at the weekend.
    2. Inviting a friend for tea last night as I knew she was going to be on her own and in need of some company.
    3. DH actually cooking last night's tea and managing to make what we had planned between 2 of us stretch to 3 of us by adding lots of lovely fresh veg.
    4. A bit more gardening yesterday so will now go and start on dad's garden as he is in need of some help at the beginning of the spring to get on top of it all again after the winter.
    5. My friend who came for tea last night reminding me how filling porridge can be and MS too. The only way I can actually enjoy it is by adding cinnamon so just off to enjoy that now.

    Yesterday's are:

    1) The beautiful sunny day we had which enabled me to...
    2) Take DD for our usual walk but because it was so lovely, I sat in the sun while she ran around the trees and grass for ages, following a good 10 minutes of Mummy Monster tiring me right out!
    3) DD telling me to "get up, darlin'. Big bed upstairs. Come on, darlin'," when I shut my eyes for five on the settee on our return then snuggling down in there with her for a little while.
    4) Getting some study done first thing before DD got up (she usually wakes before me!) and feeling productive.
    5) Hanging washing out on the line in the sun.
Love and compassion to all x
