  • Hello everyone :hello:

    My five for today:

    1. Spending the day with dh - both he and I had the day off work
    2. Homemade Shepherd's pie for tea
    3. Making muffins with dd after school - yummy
    4. Not MSE or OS - paying for our new bathroom suite - our current suite is over 25 yrs old and we have saved a long while for this :money:
    5. Trying to teach dd to knit - ooohhh she is not a patient learner

    Hello all
    My 5 for today
    1. Washing bins empty - all washing on the line
    2. DH calling home for a coffee this morning - sat in the garden for 20 minutes before he had to go back to work
    3. Sorting out the study - so many books have gone to the Oxfam bin at Sainsbury's - I can almost see what I have got in there now!!!
    4. DH driving upto Pont y Ddol - a river we all used to visit when we were kids except we used to walk there!!!! It bought back so many memories of when DH and I were just kids - when we used to take our own children up there for picnics and messing about in the river - oh where has the time gone?
    5. DD and DSIL visiting this evening - they only live a quarter of a mile away but is is always so lovely to see them - looking at old family photos and some holiday snaps of Menorca - an island which we all love - 66 days until we go again!!

I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts again today

    (((((((Hugs for all)))))))
Thinking of so many of you at the moment and hoping you are having a good week
    Night night and God bless
    xx
  • Hi all
This will be my last post for a few days as OH is scheduled for major operation tomorrow and I will be with him as much as I can.

    1. Visit and lots of baking from a friend so I can entertain OH's visitors during his convalescence without having to bake. Very thoughtful.

    2. Lots of phone calls and support from friends and family, makes me realise just how many people he has "touched' in his life.

    3. Planning to spend the evening with OH at the beach, taking a picnic and just absorbing the serenity.

Hugs to all, hope to be back on line Sunday

    Blessings be

    Jennie

Kiwiblue, I'll be thinking of you and your OH. May the op go really well and have the results that everyone hopes for. I'm glad that you have good friends around you.

    My five for Monday:

    1. Getting more hand washing out on the line first thing and boiling the teatowels and kitchen cloths in a pan on the stove since I didn't think handwashing would be enough. They've come out extremely clean and everything has dried today in the sunshine. The washing machine man is coming round tomorrow so we shall see how easy it is to fix it then.

    2. Giving the bathroom a good clean.

    3. Having a long phone call with another home-ed parent whom I haven't met but needed to ask about something. We had a lovely chat and it looks as if she may be able to help DS2 with one of his projects.

    4. Using up another £5 off voucher at Boots on something I would normally buy.

    5. Treating myself to a knitting magazine (with free bamboo needles). I've never bought one before but this had some lovely patterns in it that I'm sure I can adapt to use up some of my stash of wool. I've set myself a challenge to see if I can get through the entire year without buying any clothes for me at all (except for underwear or shoes, if I absolutely have to), but I'm allowing myself to make clothes out of new or recycled materials and buy essential patterns and habedashery that I will definitely use.

    Sweet dreams everyone.

Kiwiblue you and your DH are in my thoughts and prayers, hoping all goes well for you both tomorrow and in the days to come x

    Monday blessings,,

    1. Again waking at 6.30am and sitting outside with my first cuppa...and my second ;)

    2. The young lad who lodges with me went for his second Royal Navy interview today and passed with flying colours. Just has to have his medical which he'll sail through (pardon the pun), then it's just a case of waiting for the next intake.

    3. The post lady brought me a magazine and a ginormous poster from BBC/OU called Tree of Life. DGS will love them :)

    4. My declutter is stepping up a notch, a neighbours husband came across today to look at the third bedroom which he's going to decorate for me. He wants everything out of the room of course, which will send me into a frenzy of throwing out tomorrow as it's been used for storage (tell the truth sparrer, you mean a junk room :o ) for the past three years...and he's starting on Thursday

    5. Went to a fellowship meeting this evening, everyone was in a funny silly mood and we all laughed til we ached. I do enjoy my Moday meetings :D

    Night night everyone, sweet dreams
    S x

    Today I think:

    1) Roast dinner for tea, mid week I know but I want to clear it out of the freezer and it is only small, :) and can use up the meat in sandwiches for rest of week. :T

    2) Am making some napkins and cross stitching the trim, am so excited, :o

    3) We are having milkshakes tonight to use up some milk.

    4) Eating my lunch at work with friends, watching them all eat bought lunches and knowing mine are cheaper and healthy too

    5) Listening to the radio at night, love it, much more variety than cds etc.

Hope all goes well for your husband's operation, Kiwiblue - be thinking of you.

jvs - childhood haunts are wonderful places for making the years roll away aren't they ;)!

Broomstick - fingers crossed for your washing machine.

Not even thinking about blessings here at the moment. We got bad news yesterday, our 14-year-old Tiggy-tiger (been poorly for about 6mths and had lots of trips to the vet) has been diagnosed with kidney cancer and will be getting put out of his misery this afternoon.

((((((hugs)))))) to Kiwi blue and Olliebeak.

We received the news yesterday that DH will not be able to stay on part-time at work after his retirement date in mid June. Not sure if that is a pleasure or not - I have an open mind on that one.

    My pleasures for yesterday are:-

    1. Knowing that I have the knowledge and skills to live a life of careful frugality and self denial. I was a war baby.

    2. Having a similar challenge to Broomstick of no clothes spending except for the odd item which may make the best of what I already have. I will allow myself 'new' if I knit or sew it from my stash.

    3. A good stash of knitting wool and some material.

    4. A call from the craft shop to say that goods I had ordered and payed for were out of stock and I can have my money back:T . Really pleased as I overspent in there last week. Never again.

    5. Hugs from my DGCh'n. Riches indeed.

    Bella.
