Completely ommitted a 'blessing from yesterday's list lol.

    8. DD rang last night in floods of tears. She'd had a 'hair dyeing disaster' and needed help. She wanted to go blonde with some multi-blonde highlights. Her friend did the 'blonde' bit for her but it turned out copper. She didn't realise that, as we both have auburn/copper tones in our hair, she should have been very careful about going 'lighter'. Spent a couple of hours trying to correct the colour with a darker dye. It calmed it down a bit but is nothing like her original vision of what she wanted. She has such thick long hair that it was taking two boxes at a time to have any effect on her hair! Told her she should never try to do it herself at home - it's much harder than people think. I'm sure she finally spent more than the hairdresser would have charged for a proper job to be done! Not very MSE or OS - but it gave us a 'mum&daughter time' that we wouldn't otherwise have had :D.

Looks as though you've all had very full days - I love the sound of your shopping trips, KarrieBee - going over the hills to the shops :D. Round here, we negotiate the derelict building sites, avoid the gangs on the streetcorners and try to get out of the way of the racing motorbikes on the pavement!

    Today's blessings:

    1. Had a great wander around our shopping centre and managed to get rid of my old kitchen knives at the Police Station.

    2. Went to the optician to get my specs fixed - no charge :D.

    3. Visit to my 'very special' charity shop. Got my daughter 4 tops - 2 for £1 Special Offer. I'm sure the same person had taken all four of them to the shop at the same time as they were all similar styles and just my daughter's size. Also enjoyed a delicious coffee and chat with the ladies in there.

    4. Another cookery book for myself - 'Healthy Vegetarian Cookery' for £1 and you could just tell it had never even been opened.

    5. Freebie sample box of Shreddies being given away as we went into Asda today :D.

    6. Apologies to any Manchester United fans in advance - enjoying the result of the Liverpool/Man U match today. Not MSE or OS but definitely a feel-good thing ;).

    7. Meeting up with DD in Asda for coffee/scones and another chat session.

    8. Not much in the way of whoopsies in Asda today, BUT I still feel that I got myself some good special offers/rollbacks.

    9. DS2 visited with dgs2 (age7) while I was out. Made himself a coffee and found my Lemon Drizzle Cake and Carrot Cake with Orange Drizzle topping. Left me a thank you note in appreciation ;). Those two know what they like!

    10. Arrived home to the wonderful aroma of my shank scouse which was delicious with some crusty bread. Some left over to freeze for another day :D.

    11. Have put some marrowfat peas in to soak to make Pea and Ham Soup tomorrow with the remaining stock and meat.

Oh well, I'm ready for my bed tonight - was really late last night so I should sleep well tonight :D

Nitey nite all  - love Ollie xxx

    1. Being woken up by 2 seven year olds who had lovingly prepared me breakfast in bed of freshly squeezed grape juice :D and rice crispies with milk, marshmallows and fudge pieces. :rotfl: All because they noticed I was tired. :A

    2. Having a really lazy day, watching cookery programmes, pottering in the garden, reading MSE and lounging in jammies with the children until 2 pm.

    3. Paying for the lazy day by whizzing round cleaning before tea time but discovering that buying a new hoover that looks like a dalek and has 741 attatchments, intrigued the seven year olds so much that they hoovered the entire house. :D

    4. A simple tea of sausage and onion rolls in front of the fire followed by a card game in which I wasn't at all competitive. Honestly. No really. I'm a good loser.

    5. Knowing that tommorrow is filled with nothing but dog walking, gardening and making the Sunday roast. I may not get dressed again until the dog really, really needs to go out. :o

Thanks Sparrer - today was better :D

Ollie that's really useful info about knives. Somewhere at the bottom of our charity box we have a pack of 6 evil looking steak knives that I haven't known what to do with. As fish/veggie-only eaters we will never use them. I'll contact the cops next week to see if they have a similar scheme going.

    My five for Saturday:

    1. Did I mention the little corriander seeds waking up as well? My mum has said that she'd love herb plants when they are big enough. It will be a nice present to get together for her.

    2. Seeing my parents and having supper with them this evening, including defrosted pick-your-own raspberries from last summer with creme fraiche for pudding. Very good.

    3. Buying a newspaper today - I'm going to take it to bed with me in a minute and have a good read. There's lots on gardening.

    4. Getting masses more of my story done while DS1 was in town helping out at a wildlife event and DS2 was 'playing out' with his friends in our street. I was able to write for hours in a peaceful house.:D

    5. Identifying another possible source of very creative workshops I could run for young people.

    Sleep well.

    My five for Saturday:

    1. My Dad & I joined the Daily Telegraphs Fantasy Fund Manager game. You 'get' £100,000 to buys bonds, equities & the like with & play against others for a year plus it's free & there's a prize for the best fund managers :D I haven't seen him so animated since his stroke & he understands all of this so it'll be good for him & educational for me.

    2. Laughing a lot at Dance for Comic Relief - Robert Webb was sooo funny :rotfl:

    3. Cup of tea in the garden whilst planning out on paper some of this years planting schemes.

    4. Lovely hot bubble bath - uninterrupted ;)

    5. Making a cake with DS1 it was Thriftlady's wartime Syrup Sponge - very yummy & it only had flour, bicarb, golden syrup & milk in it :T

I hope that today is bringing blessings to everyone too.

Been away for four days so catching up:
    1. Pleasant sunny walks by seaside.
    2. Enjoying the countryside and spring lambs
    3. Couple of cheap bargains from charity shops
    4. Visiting a Farmers Market where an obliging stallholder was selling vegetable
seedlings in single cells, one at a time for those who only had tiny gardens or
wanted to grow in containers. Bought a few "one offs" and was delighted to
see he was selling out fast. Why won't the garden centres adapt to customer
needs like this? It has saved me sowing a few cabbage & cauliflower seeds
which is all I'll have room for in my growing plan.
5 Returning home to find the first of my parsnips seeds had sprouted in loo rolls
and all my pepper and aubergine seedlings had survived our absence.
    .
  • My 5 for a lovely weekend:

    1. A lovely walk out in the hills with dh, ds and dd
    2. Homemade cheese omelette for lunch made by dh :D
    3. Homemade stew for tea tonight - a real treat as we have been eating processed food for the last couple of weeks
    4. The chance to start to catch up with the washing and ironing - it's very scary :eek:
    5. Buying some new knitting needles and wool - it's been 15 years since I last knitted anything and I have been inspired by the Knit Your Square to Give Your Share thread to take it up again.

Have a good evening everyone xx
