Sunnygirl, I just popped in quickly to see new posts and read about your labrador, I am so very sorry, it is very very hard to lose a pet and the decision must have been very difficult. (((((((HUGS)))))))))Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

1 Bumping into a friend from antenatal four years ago; lovely to see her, to see that she remembered so much about me and to meet her gorgeous children
2 Having two people from the local church wish me well and saying 'God Bless' to me, it really made my day
3 DS2 is playing out the front with his older brother and a neighbour!!! DS2 normally spends the entire day clung to my leg so this is a real breakthrough!!!

seeing my hubby coming down the road to meet me in the car from the train - makes my heart jump every time;
a lovely cup of Earl Grey when I got home from work;
cuddles from my daughter while she told me about her day at school today - she is Year 8 and they are starting to become a rarity !!0 -

SunnyGirl - so sorry to hear your news. I grew up with a golden lab - he also had a good inning's - 17 years - it doesn't make their passing any easier though ((((hugs))))
My five for today:
1. Finishing my latest contract at work - this means I've got more time to indulge in the OS that I love so much

SunnyGirl my thoughts and prayers are with you, God bless your old lady who's gone across the Rainbow Bridge to wait for you :A
Congratulations KarrieBee, how lovely to hear your good news during such hard times
Friday blessings...
1. Woke up at 7am and saw the neighbours going off to work and school whipe I sat and sipped tea...I'm so pleased I'm not part of the rat race any more
2. Postie brought me a free pack of labels which are very useful as I save old envelopes to re-use. She also brought me a book 'Short Stories for Short Breaks. Hidden Gems in Englands North West' by Stuart Maconie which I shall read then take to my friend in Rhodes as she's from that part of the world
3. DS arranging to take me out for dinner on the Sunday after Mothering Sunday, as on the day I'll be going to visit my own DM
4. Boiled a chicken carcass and stripped the bones for enough meat for a pie, a jug of rich stock to make the gravy and some dripping which will go toward making the pastry
5. Long chat on the phone with my DF in Yorkshire, she works very hard but always make time to phone me at least twice a week.
Night night everyone, sweet dreams

Sunnygirl - so sorry to hear about your faithful friend - we too lost a labrador called Penny a couple of years ago - Before I retired I was a veterinary nurse and the final act of kindness you can do for your pet is have her/him put to sleep, when you feel their quality of life is no longer good. A hard decision but one which truly repays all the years your Penny dedicated to you as a loyal friend. We always advised owners ,that if at all possible, don't leave it too long before you give another pet a place in your life , as you could be depriving some future loyal friend of a loving, caring and happy home
xx
Night night and God bless to all

Hi all
Hugs for you SunnyGirl - the loss of a dearly loved pet is very difficult & my thoughts are with you x
Congratulations KarrieBee - Im really pleased for you - best of luck with your new job.
I can't get to 5 o/s pleasures today (been 1 of those days) but here are a few;
1) Having my suspicions confirmed that my 2 female rabbits are indeed male & female & we will soon be expecting baby bunnies - Just in time for easter :icotbaske
2) Going to SureStart playgroup & getting a bag of veg for just £2 - loads of fruit for the family, veg for a roast & soup, plus cabbage for the bunnies.
3) Reading other o/s pleasure posts & being cheered up.
Enjoy your weekends all xxxx0 -
KarrieBee - that's really exciting news. Well done you!
SunnyGirl - I am yet another person who grew up with a labrador. She was put down when she was about 14, frail and in pain. They are such beautiful and loving animals and I really feel for you. Big hugs.
Reverbe - great to see you back!
I've had a bit of a tough day but here goes with five for Friday:
1. Getting some freebie stationery in the post.
2. Seeing that we now have little aubergine plants to add to the list of sprouty green things
3. Taking a look at my dad's new, draft website which has been built for him (he's in his mid-80s).
4. Buying a few bogof treats in the supermarket because we all needed a bit more treatsy food today and I knew we would never get round to making it (not OS but a bit MS)
5. Doing lots of research about geese for the story I'm writing at the moment. I'm now much wiser and have looked at lots of stunning photographs online and listened to lots of recordings of geese 'talking'.
Sleep well.0 -
Haven't posted on here for a while as things have been difficult and I haven't been able to think of 5 pleasures but I am back now. I have popped in now and again to see how you are all doing though.
KarrieBee - really good news about the job especially in these difficult times.
SunnyGirl - so sorry to hear about your dog.
Mine 5 for the last few days
1. I need a new cooker and whilst browsing on the B&Q website saw that they have a half price sale on some kitchen units this weekend and spotted that the units my friend has been wanting to order (they were full price) are now half price so rang her and she will go and place her order today saving a massive amount of money.
2. Sitting here in the sunshine with a very large cup of tea and feeling like I have come back to some good friends after a holiday.
3. Called into Tesco yesterday, don't very often go there, and they were in the process of reducing the sale clothes down to very silly prices. Got 2 ladies cashmere jumpers for £2.85 each, a gents one for my dad for £4.38 and a merino wool suit for my friend's husband for £10. Couldn't beleive that even at these prices if they didn't fit I could have taken them back for a refund but my friend's husband, 2 sons and father are all similar size so we were hopeful that the suit would fit one of them.
4. Have been trying to reduce my food shopping bill for the past few months and have realised that I have now reduced it by about £120 per month. There is still some way to go but I am so much more aware of what I spend on food now due to MSE.
5. Looking forward to an old school friend and her DH coming for a meal on Sunday, haven't seen her in ages but it always feel like yesterday when we do meet up. We have managed to keep in touch for over 35 years since leaving school.
(((((hugs))))) if you need one & special thoughts for everyone xx0
