Five OS Pleasures in your day today
Comments

Hello everybody :hello: - been a wild and windy day here in Liverpool. Would have put some laundry out but it turned to rain as well so had to dry things on the airer/radiator racks instead.
1. Quiet morning as OH went to a carboot sale. He brought back way too much stuff for the grandkids - more stuff to clutter the house!!!
2. Baking session - Lemon Drizzle Cake and Connaught Carrot Cake.
3. Had decided on salad for lunch today - as it turns out it was a bad idea! So cold today it should have been a hot meal.
4. Spent the afternoon snuggled under a fleece blanket on the sofa to keep warm. Finally gave in about 5.30 and put the heating on. Think it's the sound of the wind 'howling' that's making me feel colder than usual.
5. OH made me a lovely cup of strong milky coffee when I came on here this evening- a treat I don't often give myself .
I think I'll have to give up and get to bed early folks - so nitey nite all and hope you all have sweet dreams - love Ollie xxx0 -
1 Choosing veg seeds with DD for her to grow - this will be second year of having a go at growing our own!
2 Spring cleaning office (log cabin in the garden) - cobwebs Hammer House of Horror would be proud of!
3 Walking the dog and getting hailed on whilst looking at a beautiful rainbow!
4 Seeing DH & DD working together in the garden sorting out raised beds.
5 Cooking meal with DD which she'd spotted on TV last week (Rick Stein's pork chops with cider and sage) - delicious.0 -
1) Getting most of my domestic jobs done before I went out this morning
2) Seeing the babies dancing in church and sitting on the carpet for a story
3) Spending most of the afternoon reading
4) Sitting inside on a dark, evening with the fire glowing.0 -
Hello all
My remaining blessings for the day
2. Defrosting rest of Victoria sponge and having a lovely cuppa this afternoon
3. Visiting my DN(nephew) and his lovely family. My great nephew whose is 10 telling me he loved me and as I was leaving my nephew shouting down the drive that he loved us loads - very lucky to have such lovely nephews and nieces
4. Sorting out some books and taking them to the hospice charity shop -very suprised they were open on a Sunday
5. Collecting a bag of crafts bits and bobs for the Brownies - dropping them off at Brown Owl's house and being told I was a legend - never ever been called a legend before!!!!
6. Spending 2 hours with DM and DF this evening and how we have laughed and laughed. DM has knitted 2 squares for the Soweto Club charity blankets - so very proud of her - she is nearly 81 years old has terrible rheumatoid arthritis and is still feeling the effects of 2 subdural haematomas of the brain she sustained when she fell last August
Night night to all and god bless

Waves to Ampersand :hello:
A quick five from this weekend -
1. Seeing that the cucumber seeds have started to sprout. They look sooooo green.:D
2. Watching a blackbird bathing itself in a muddly puddle in the middle of a bit of scrubland with cars zooming nearby. The sun was shining and it was clearly in heaven!
3. Getting more home-ed resources ready to sell or donate.
4. Doing some more handwashing and line-drying.
5. Just remembering to get my veggiebox order ammendments (including extra oranges as a treat) in on time (midnight)! Phew.
Sleep well.0 -
yes jvs I'm being a good girl (almost) and not rushing into things yet - tempting though it is in this fine weather to get outside and sort out the garden I've been pottering with some indoor decluttering
Sunday blessings...
1. Sorted 5 box files into 2 and shredded lots of old paperwork. The full sack of shredded paper has gone across the square to a neighbour with a runny babbit and a puinea gig
2. A neighbours husband was made redundant 2 weeks ago. Knowing how good he is at diy and so forth I asked if he would think about redec'ing my small 3rd bedroom, which he was delighted to accept. We came to a very amicable arrangement which helps us both out.
3. A friend from my fellowship phoned, we had a lovely long chat then decided she should come for coffee tomorrow morning, so we can gossip a bit more. I'm so looking forward to my first 'official' visitor since I came home
4. Watched Dancing on Ice and marvelled at how the contestants have all done so well in such a short time - it would take me a threat of death by 400 blades before I could even stand on ice, let alone dance on it!
5. Sitting in bed reflecting on the day...the sun and breeze drying the laundry this morning, the rain this afternoon falling on my neighbours newly mown grass, sending out a heavenly smell, the dry clear evening, still with a touch of frostiness, and thinking how fortunate we are to live in a country without earthquakes, tempest, flood, tornadoes and so forth. Yet we do like to complain about the weather - funny people aren't we? :rotfl:
Night night, sweet dreams x0 -
Evening everyone
My pleasures for the day
1. Thanks to pointing me towards "Pioneer woman " website. Thoroughly enjoying reading it, but have spent far too long on it today.
2. Yesterday OH and I harvested the grapes from one of the vines (about 20kg) and another two equally laden vines to go. So today made grape jelly, grape and apple juice, prepped grapes for freezing.
3. Tomorrow I will attack the 2nd vine and start on winemaking.
4. Tai Chi to start the day, great way to say hi to the neighbours, and it affirms the start of the day.
5. Watching Time Team on TV, I find it absorbing, it must be much more interesting for you guys who are living in the environment.
6. Not really a pleasure, but Oh will have his operation next week, and am hoping that the feeling of living life in limbo will cease. Feeling quite disjointed and removed from reality, and am hoping to get back on track soon.
Blessings be

A mixed bag of blessings for me this weekend.
Saturday:-
1. Shopping with DH and coming in under budget - just.
2. An afternoon sleep to prepare me for -
3. Helping prepare a buffet supper for about 90 people.
4. The cakes I had made for the supper went down a bundle.
5. Realising - for the first time that some of the many tea towels I had brought to wash could be put to dry in the summer house. I'm a bit slow here but now I have a new drying area:j
Sunday:-
1. Having my cousin and his wife for the day, lovely to see them and even though it was a busy day I felt relaxed because they are family.
2. Seeing my home baked apple pie enjoyed.
3. Finding I can make at least two more meals from the whoopsied almost half price) joint of beef we had yesterday.
4. A brief afternoon sleep even though there were visitors here. My cousin needs to rest as he had a brain haemorrhage a few years ago, so we all got a bit of a kip. I needed it as I'd only slept for 3 hours the day before.
5. They loved my hm blueberry and apple muffins for tea.

Welcome back and thanks for that ampersand, I'm a bit city bound but we do have a small stream at the back of the garden and I occasionally find a frog or too.

HI all!
Ampersand, thank you for providing one of today's pleasures for me, I am struggling a bit, woke up in a foul mood and the day did not go too well and then tonight I have a work meeting which I really would love to avoid (but cannot) - on the other side of London, too!
So, here goes, gotta find pleasures, find the silver lining in the clouds:
1 - Ampersand's link to the prune cake - as soon as I have a minute I am going to make it (absolutely love prunes!).
2 - After shouting at DS for leaving the kitchen in a mess I came back home two hours later to find a really nice and neat kitchen, he did a great job.
3 - The acupuncture was horribly painful but I was told that when there is pain it means that blockages are being removed. Well, thanks goodness for small mercies!
4 - Bought a magazine (Good Housekeeping) which I shall read on my looooooong journey across London tonight going to the work meeting.
5 - Bought some nice grapes in the market in Stratford to bring to the meeting. As the charity is skint we have only a limited budget for refreshments and I have offered to bring grapes free of charge. Feels good to be able to help.
That's all for today folks, I am going to catch a few minutes rest before embarking on the underground journey.
Have a good evening, all! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
