    Good evening all!

Missing in action yesterday so I shall post for yesterday and today!

    Friday:

1 - Decided to do NO paid work and enjoy the day to myself

2 - Went to a women's event in the Town Hall and had a head and shoulder massage (10 minutes only, a taster, but really nice)

3 - Free tea and biscuits, as well as pens and a fabric bag, at above event

4 - Back home, did a laundry and hung it outside, this is becoming quite regular now, sign of approaching spring!

5 - Bought two yellow stickered spinach and ricotta quiches, froze one and saved the other for next day event (see below)

    Saturday:

1 - Long lie-in, but got up before going back to bed to make breakfast and had a very nice scrambled egg on toast with DH, then he went to his martial arts and I went back to bed with pot of tea.

2 - Am reading a book about memories of a woman's life in the East End, she was born in 1917, so loads of interesting stuff about how they lived then.

3 - Went to another women's event to a community centre, brought the quiche I bought yesterday (after removing yellow sticker of course!)

4 - LOADS of great international food, a real feast, stuffed my face with the most delicious late lunch - no need for dinner today!

5 - Another massage taster at event!

6 - Pilates taster at event!

7 - Made contact with another Italian woman and had a great long chat in Italian, it was lovely as I do not know any local Italians and I really missed speaking my mother tongue. She is quite local to me and not working at the moment so we decided to stay in touch, hope this develops into a good friendship!

8 - Back home, found that DH has done a lot of work in the back garden. We are now ready to start planning our veg plots, front and back!

9 - Because of too much food at event, no need for me to cook. DH happy to fry himself a couple of frozen veggie sausages while I indulge in my computer addiction.

10 - Anticipated pleasure: about to say good night and going to make two hot water bottles (one for top and one for bottom of bed), a nice pot of herbal tea and going to bed to keep reading the East End memories.

    Good night all! xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • 1) Getting up before DH and DS and making some headway in the ironing pile

    2) Convincing DH to make some meals for next week so we can pull them out of the freezer when we get home from work

    3) Reading a chapter of my book this afternoon while DS was asleep

    4) Having a lovely cuddle with DS (a very rare occurance)

    5) A nice Saturday night in :-)

I wish I had spent less time watching toads and more time doing what you did. :o

Think I should find myself some toads to watch just occasionally.

Evening everybody, what a lovely day it's been here - I hope the same for you all

    Saturday blessings..

    1. Woke to a lovely sunny day and got the washing out by 8am. Not much sign of wildlife here I'm afraid, unless you count the 8 cats in this small square of 14 houses, and of course most of the birds are wise to them. Later in the year we'll have the hedgehog family and herons on the roofs opposite, but for now just a coo (or should that be poo? ) of pigeons and a squabble of starlings.

    2. Took a bag of padded envelopes/bubble wrap to a lady who has a small ebay shop, she's always so grateful for any recycled packaging. Also delivered the waste food bin I mentioned yesterday for the school in the next village.

    3. Gave away a sewing table on freecycle, asked for a lawnmower and was offered 2! People are so kind, I just love freecycle :D. I put my non-working one on in case anybody wants it for spares rather than just take it to the tip before I ask.

    4. The airshow has begun - I live amid 3 private airfields, an RAF base, a hot air balloon launch area and 2 airship hangars, some of which are starting to be active at weekends now. Great fun spotting the old planes, one of my older neighbours can name them all and delights in telling me what went over today. Every day. Bless him...

    5. Turned out the stationery cupboard for the first time in 5 years - a huge collection of used envelopes. cards to be recycled as gift tags. a myriad brown wrapping paper to be rolled and stored carefully, 3 erasers, 2 staplers, 7 post-it notepads and at least 40 pens! I don't think I'll ever have to buy stationery again. Did I mention I love recycling? :D

Night all, sweet dreams. S x

Hello all  - now feeling much 'less fragile' than I did this morning ;). Makes reminder to self to never have more than 2 drinks in future  - must remember that 18, for me, is a dim and distant memory :o.

Thanks to everybody for sharing your daily blessings - far better than sitting and bemoaning our lot in life :). Also looks as though we're all experiencing the onset of Spring in one way or another - we had another fairly nice day here in Liverpool, though March winds are getting up at the moment.

So glad you've found yourself a new Italian acquaintance, Caterina - I can only try to imagine how wonderful it must feel to be able to share a conversation in your 'own language'. Fingers crossed that this develops into a good friendship :).

Sarahsaver - thanks for the 'kind donation' of some of your surplus wildlife :T - I'm looking forward to my trip to Scotland in May. Last year we had a red squirrel that was a frequent visitor to our caravan - he kept stealing the fatballs we put out for the birds :). Also a family of pinemartens that were nesting very close to us and the occasional hedgehog. So pleased to discover that we are in the same caravan again this year :D.

My own five for today are:

    1. The longest lie-in that I've had for a very long time - unfortunately it was accompanied by a 'very crumpled' feeling for a couple of hours :o.

    2. Trip to local shopping centre with a visit to my favourite charity shop/drop-in place. Lovely chat with the ladies in there and a delicious coffee with home-made scone.

    3. Lovely cookery book from the charity shop - 'Time to Cook Great Meals - 10, 20 and 30 minutes' for 50p. It's in immaculate condition and most of the pages were stuck together as if it had never been opened, so I gave the lady £1 instead. Think it's actually worth more :o but was stuck for change!

    4. Visit to Asda - couple of whoopsied curries, two whoopsied trays of cooked turkey and ham (now separated into bags and frozen in useable amounts), whoopsied Scotch Eggs (for a salad for tomorrow's lunch). Plus two 70litre bags of Multi-purpose Compost (£4 each or 2 for £6!)

    5. Visit from DS1 this evening and chatting with him about growing potatoes for the first time. I now THINK I know what I'm supposed to do, so it's fingers crossed lol. Just hope nobody pinches them while I'm away on holiday :(. (That's what happened to our veg plot many years ago when I was with ex-OH - pots, beetroot, carrots, green beans, strawberries had all disappeared while we were away for a week!)

    6. Think I'll be getting off to bed in a few minutes - the wind has really got up outside and it's making me feel very shivery now - brrrrrrrrrrrr!

Nitey nite all - sleep tight. Ollie xxx

    Good morning everyone
Sparrer - hope you are feeling better than you were this time last week - do keep on taking things esaier than you normally do for a little while yet
These are my 6 for Saturday
    1. Got the bread maker down off the shelf and made 2 loaves - one white, one wholegrain - forgotten the lovely aroma of bread cooking
    2. HM ham and well past their sell by date veg soup!! Tasted delicious. Some in freezer for another day
    3. DH helping me move the furniture in the bedroom so we could dust skirting boards and hoover - not as bad as I thought it would be - but not good either!!
    5. Washed the bedding and it all dried on the line in no time - we must have had the same wind as you, Olliebeak - but just across the estuary in North Wales
6.Not OS but DH took me for the most lovely meal and it was very nice getting dressed up to go out.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi everyone my 5 for Saturday are:

    1. Staying in bed until 11am finishing a good book - unusual treat for me.

    2. Getting time in the afternoon to cross stitch for a couple of hours.

    3. Having the house to myself in the cross stitching time - almost unheard of!

    4. Having a long talk with my Mum trying to make her & my Dad less frightened after his stroke. It's perfectly understandable how they're feeling but she said she felt much more positive after our chat and hugs from her grandchildren.

    5. Watching tv last night with 3 of the children & DH (DS2 was staying at a friends).

Continued blessings & good health to you all for Sunday.

    Morning all,

    1. Having a lie in today and yesterday
    2. Letting a couple, in the queue behind me at the bakers, have the last cream cakes
    3. 2 bags to the charity shop (I've heard a lot of charity shops are desperate for stock)
    4. Peeling and preparing the veg for the sunday roast last night
    5. Searching for comedy programs on tv, even the old stuff, to have a real belly laugh
    6. Buying 3 magazines, each with a freebie
    7. Using the last of the sack of potatoes, truly scraping the bottom of the barrel

Thriftlady, what a fab idea - do you have a crumble mix recipe - would never have thought of freezing it.
