    Evening all!

    1. Making nut & cheese pate for lunch, and eating it with 10p bread.

I love the sound of this :j, bibbitybob - do you have a recipe please?

Welcome back  to all those who've had to be away from the thread for a couple of days - good to see you all again.

Looks as though there's a few of us struggling with yucky throat/chest infections at the moment. Let's hope we can manage to shake them off in the next couple of days.

    1. DD's birthday today - 29. Same age I was when I had her :).

    2. Another quiet day in work - though still managed to sort out a few problems for some of the tenants. Did some personal visits today, but just kept my distance, and a scarf wrapped around my mouth, to keep any germs to myself!

    3. Took DD's birthday cake round to her house this evening. Made with 'soya margarine' so that dgk's and especially dgd2 (16mths with milk/lactose allergy) could have some. Turned out quite good - hadn't used it for baking with before this attempt. Everybody loved it and the kids have asked for some in their packed lunches tomorrow for school :).

    4. Dgd2 got up and toddled around by herself to many rounds of applause. Looks so strange to see her attempting this. I've never had one that's been this late at walking before - but my own brother was 18mths when he first walked (very tall, knocked-kneed, pigeon-toed and double-jointed!). Poor fella has had a lot to live down ever since ;).

    5. Have remembered to take a piece of Breast of Lamb out of the freezer for tomorrow's evening meal. Will have it with some roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes and mint sauce. I know it's very fatty, but what meat there is, is usually very sweet and tender.

Hope we all manage a decent night's sleep, folks. Sweet dreams, Ollie xxx

Sparrer checking in jvs...early or late I'm not sure but 'here Miss' :D

    Thursday blessings...

    1. Knowing everyone in this little community is okay, and taking great pleasure in reading about all the good things that happen in your day

    2. Sold a keyboard (music type) for the asking price, the buyer said it was exactly what she wanted and didn't even try to haggle:j

    3. Postie brought me notification of an increase in pension. She also brought me my new tax code, so I'll be the princely sum of 78p a week better off..riches! But at least I earned mine honestly Fred :p

    4. Finished Bill Bryson's Notes from a Small Island...how I laughed, he has us summed up perfectly. In places he was more British than the Brits :rotfl:

    5. A lovely dinner of Cumberland sausages (241) and lots of roasted roots rescued from the bottom of the fridge in a cheesy sauce (used up scraps of cheddar and parmesan). With home made Oxo wedges it was cheap, delicious and really filling.

    Night night, sweet dreams x

    Hello all.

    My five for Thursday:

    1. Having a lovely deep, hot bath this morning (can justify it since I have switched the space heating off  ) then...

    2. Washing a machine load of clothes in the (pretty clean!) bath water (since the washing machine has packed in) and rinsing it all in the bathroom sink then...

    3. Pegging it out in the sunshine immediately then...

    4. Clearing out the bathroom sink's and bath's outdoor drains - yukky job since both of them had got blocked with winter leaves and snail shells so brilliant to have this done. Then...

    5. Emptying the still hot bath water down the drain so it got a really good blast clean then...

Having a huge mug of real coffee to celebrate.... and lots more but this lot was a really good set of things that went together and it was very satisfying seeing one thing lead to another!

    Hugs to all.

Kind thoughts to everybody who's going through a rough time at the moment.
    Yesterdays:
    1. More frogspawn appearing in our tiny pond despite the frost overnight so I look forward to lots of little froglets this summer.
    2. OH winning £50 on the premium bonds.
    3. Three ducks settling on our roof overnight (two drake & one female) and were
sitting on our lawn this morning waiting to be fed. We think the female is the same
one who spent six weeks in our garden last spring, gobbling up all our tadpoles
and newts, so we've netted over the pond. May still feed the ducks though.
They have a penchant for oats!
    4. All my pepper, aubergine & chilli seeds have germinated.
    5. Managed to rescue most ofmy chitting potatoes from the garage where some
    mice have discovered them.
    5. And despite heavy frost last night, the sun is now shining. It makes such a
    difference to my mood!
    Have a good week-end everybody.

    1) Four loaves baking in the oven right now. Made four yesterday too.

    2) Homemade chicken liver pate and watercress sandwiches for lunch.

    Chicken liver pate

Pack of organic chicken livers -£1.99 form Waitrose
    2 cloves of garlic, crushed
    butter
splash of sherry, splash of brandy

Saute livers and garlic in butter until pink. Pour in booze, cook over a high heat to burn off the alcohol.
Tip the lot into a food processor-blitz and chill. Makes loads and is really good for you;)

    3) Made a litre of yogurt yesterday without using UHT or dried milk-just fresh, unhomogenised whole milk. Was deliciously mild and creamy.

    4) My mum has tidied my garden for me-thanks mum.

    5) It is Friday and that means clean line-dried sheets on the bed tonight-yummy.

    6) Sausages for tea tonight:j

    1. Taking my coffee into the garden this morning and watching a mouse drinking out of the pond and seeing the toads swimming around in the depths. (sad, I know) :p

    2. planting up more rocket, broad bean and pea seeds (the mouse ate the last lot which probably explains his thirst)

    3. Getting OH to portion up a 8.5 lb sea trout for the freezer that he was given yesterday by a customer for free. :j

    4. Making cress egg heads with my girls in the empty shells from the goose eggs we had yesterday.

    5. Making a great meal of steak, new potatoes in HG herb butter and steamed veg for our tea instead of going out for a meal as Oh wanted to do thus saving a fortune. ;)

    6. Arranging to pass on a great OS book to someone who will love it as much as me.
