:hello: Hello everybody - didn't get around to posting last night. I'd had a l-o-n-g day in work, settled down to watch 'Sleepless in Seattle', managed about 20 mins of it and woke to catch the end where Jonah goes up the Empire State Building
.
So here's mine for yesterday:
1. At 9.45am I realised that I should have been 8 miles away signing up for a training course for work. Fortunately, the signing up was going to last all day so I was able to arrive late and be one of the 'second signings' - phew!
2. The centre where the signing was being held had a 'Open Event' with a buffet lunch provided - so had a lovely freebie lunch - thanks to an elderly couple doing the catering.
3. Watching a group of 14 'Silver Surfers' getting their IT certificates and the proud looks of achievement on their faces. They all said a little bit about how getting to grips with computers has had a positive impact on their lives.
4. Sharing a taxi home with one of our local councillors that I haven't met before. She lives locally, so will prove to be a useful point of contact for work/community related problems.
5. Finding out that this particular training course carries an incentive of £100 High Street Gift Vouchers IF we manage to complete within 11mths! As this particular course is work-related (I've been doing this job for 18yrs) that should prove to be a feasible dead-line - so they can join the other £250 that I got last week for my Attendance Award :j. The 'Christmas 2009 Fund' is looking better all the time. Chatting to my work colleagues, we've decided to aim for completion at the end of November - just in case anything needs 'tweaking'
.
I'll need to take some time to look through everybody's postings and get up-to-date with all your blessings.
Speak again later - love Ollie xxx0 -
Just pm'd sparrer again........more worried now.
Still have feeling of 'mustn't overpost'*, so here are an easy 5 from last few days.
*The thing is being aware of so many little epiphanic moments and wishing they could be shared with empathetic peeps, when s/o else is far, far....
'nuf of that:
1. Realising more and more how BP is lifting and liberating me financially and expanding horizons for free travel. It's making the Newspaper Summary offers viable, too. So, >Guardian>Starbucks[virginity lost Wednesday] and now, with card[read Quoia's xlnt post]free daily coffee after 14h till 21/4! Will do the Morrison's/Sunday Telegraph one and have free Marcus Wareing book, apart from the outing and constant changing vista from bus.
2.Mixing big bird food from yesterday's chosen 'ingredients' at Darwin Nurseries[Charity training young handicapped adults]for everybody who comes, led by Big Boy of course. Bus driver dropped me off right o's and the rtn stop was no distance, although 'countryside'.
3.Using more pancake mix for brekkers.
4.Too many DAB R7 highlights to list, but also the exceptional David Walliams' DID is on again R4 NOW, another stand-out episode[as was Monty Don's]
5.A lovely barista boy in a Cambridge Starbucks yesterday and being whistled(at my age!)and complimented imaginatively by two men, individually! as I walked through town(otherwise an unexpectedly barren trip as no-one, not even John Lewis, has Meltonian-or other-shoe cream, bottle green any more) Will shortly post asking for correction on this.
5 special.
Feeling so glad that rugbymum has her CAP appt today.
###################
Will need these as have MOT to arrange and never have 1st time pass.
###################
Have to add another right now - as Nick Cave is about to sing 'Into My Arms'.................I love and love and love this and think of the who, who introduced me to NC. I am pining somewhat, probably. And fearful. Okay - gives self quick slap about chops - will shortly go out and start staining fence. Long overdue.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Good morning all, and what a lovely morning it is!
I popped in yesterday to read but did not post as I was really hurried by work to do, so here are mine for yesterday:
1 - DD had a very promising Uni interview, the college of her first choice, the tutor said "If I could, I would accept you straight away". This is particularly good because she had been demoralised by a previous rejection (arty-farty college that do not value practical design, we think!) and was considering not going to Uni. This very positive interview gave her a really needed confidence boost.
2 - Catching up with a friend/colleague who I had not seen for a while.
3 - DS invited a friend around and I cooked a nice meal and baked the - now famous! - apple cake. It was a good meal.
4 - DS coming into the kitchen and saying thank you and how much he enjoyed the meal and the cake.
5 - Marie Claire mag through the post (I think this must be the last of the 3 for £1), a great read and containing the Origins free cream & facial offer!
My five for today:
1 - The lovely wonderful light sunny day!
2 - Full night sleep, not even a trip to the loo, I am feeling so rested and energised!
3 - Although my job hours have been cut, I still will have around 4 hours per week (from April), at least something to keep me ticking, while I am also looking at other very part time jobs in my area.
4 - Anticipated pleasure: booked the Origins free facial for this afternoon, and will also pick the cream there!
5 - Anticipated pleasure: Dinner out with DH today, with HaHa 2 for 1 voucher and then cinema with one of the free tickets I got with the Times offer.
Life is good, love and hugs! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello Caterina!
Great news for your DD. Remember all of this from another life...
Yes, you're so right about lovely sun(despite chill wind, it's good for fence painting)
and all of a sudden I have 5 more:
1. Being outside painting fence, not well, but with feel-good knowledge encouraging me;little birds v. close, 2-6 feet off, in forsythia and holly, noisy, and Big Boy ditto. Fence is my self-imposed TASK, after which I will allow self to start in gdn proper, for 1st time this year(hmmm-know I wrote that a week ago:rolleyes:) Loads of planting, thanks to mot's Adamtwin introducing me to Poundland.....
2. Just had call from P., Scottish friend in her 80's on Isle of Bute[I moved her there 6 yrs ago], and thinking back to Chrimbo when she and A met at last[lovely pub lunch o/s Rothesay] They much liked each other.
3. Postie brings Maurice Wiggins book from Abebooks seller. Had such fun with Redd of Dim&Distant books, Heathfield, Sussex as we exchanged em's to bring it about, when site went AWOL. £3.20 all up treat to self(instead of petrol, these BP days:D, so I'm allowed - says she defiantly.) Book is 1949, comme moi, and sgd by author - I really want to divine sth of this man by his siggy, having so enjoyed In Spite of the Price of Hay.
4. Postie also brings stamps from mineallmine for pashmina - thankyou so much mam. Have you worn it with THE matching bag yet?
5. Insce docs not yet arrived, altho 1st class post Tuesday late pm - so ring the 4-letter S-word firm. Obtain further reduction!!! Another nice person, Charlotte, as Greg is ooo just atm. So good.
another 5. Stephen Fry is one of 3 presenters when ISIHAC rtns soon.
Clouding over a bit and time's racing, as I'm on here:o more than I ever used to be, by miles. I did post a lot for specific 'cause' people if you like - which is how mot and I have happily met, ditto rugbymum recently. her CAP appt is today, for which thanks. I thank mot for bringing tigtag's horrendous plight to my attention - please look if you can.
I'm trying to lose the thing of feeling I'm self-indulgent if posting for the pleasure of it....as if having conversation. Any empathy note of late and I seem to wade in, whether or not it's a gathering to which I've been invited.:o

It'll soon be pay to pee on board, and maybe poo will be on BOGOF?
Heard The Man say Ryanair was driven to keep prices down by 'cutting out all unnecessary frills'. Some hilarious listener f/b has started rolling in.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Can't believe it was Tuesday when I last posted, the week has whizzed by! So here's a best of for the last 3 days.
1. Choir on Tuesday went very well, perpaing for a competition in April.
2. Got loads of lovely messages of support from friends for my interview on Thursday.
3. Lovely HM LO sausage stew with organic veggies last night, so hearty and warming - just what we need with the cold wet weather!
4. Found a paneer recipe and made some today to go with HM curry tonight - fingers crossed folks!
5. Finding a Thomas Pink shirt for 1.70 in Help the Aged
6. Getting some muslin for face cloths and cheese making - only £1.20 a metre in the market! - The cloths that you normally get wth my cleanser are soooo expensive so i'm planning to run up a big batch for me and my friends.
7. Reading a great book recommended by my counsellor.
8. Losing my microfibre cloth virginity and using them to get the kitchen sparkling!
9. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend with OH.
Blessings to all for a healthy and peaceful time.

My five for today are:
1. I noticed that the forsythia had tiny buds all over it this morning.
2. I had a cuddle with my neighbours 3 day old baby, she is such a little sweetie :A
3. Getting the kitchen/pantry room sorted out prior to a 'new to me' chest freezer being delivered on Sunday.
4. Helping/makingDH get rid of some of his hoard of 'stuff' that was cluttering up the above pantry room.
5. Having a laugh with my Mum over the fact that she not only washes her cloth reusable bags but irons them too :rotfl: I rarely remember to wash mine! We laughed until our sides hurt.
Blessings to everyone & I hope that you enjoy your weekends whatever they find you doing.0 -
Hi all. Cant believe it's Friday already - where do the weeks go!
1. Phone call from DS to say no need to go to the sheep today - glad as was hammering down with rain - just a fairweather shepherd me lol.
2. Text from friend not seen for a while arranging to get together.
3. Email from another friend - feel so lucky to have good friends.
4. Sorting 3 cupboards out - why on earth do we keep such useless rubbish? what possesses us to think we will ever need it?
5. Baking the most delicious date and walnut shortbread - far too tempting!
6. As KarriBee says -I am also looking forward to a childfree relaxing weekend with DH.
Have a good weekend whatever your plans.0
