Five OS Pleasures in your day today
Comments
-
These are mine for today
1) Having DS's friend to stay over - he just fits in so well, we hardly know he's there
2) Having a very long lie in
3) Brunch was leftovers from last night so no cooking - just getting dishes out of the fridge
4) Getting DD home from school trip away
5) Prospect of coffee out with DH when he wakes up (asleep on sofa!)
Have a lovely weekend everyone0 -
Evening all,
My 5 for today:-
1. Buying 1 metre of muslin at the market for £2.50, to make HM Liz Earle style muslin cloths (never done this before!)
2. Trying to refuse as many plastic carrier bags from shops as I could today (bet Olliebeak is good at this)
3. Found 2 things I'd been looking for (for ages), and seem to find them easily!
4. 27 (rubbish/recycling) fling inside the car, hence (3) above!
5. Buying a raspberry plant/bush from the £1 shop and giving it a whirl at growing.
No probs ref the stamps ampersand, you're welcome.
:beer:Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks

1. Going horseriding
2. eating HM beef casserole for dinner
3. freezing half the casserole for another day
4. mug of filter coffee yummmmmmmmmmmmm
5. having a neighbour volunteer to look after animals when I go away for a weekend break
6. booking the weekend away
7. seeing the first yellow daffodil bud in the garden"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
mumoftwins, glad all's well that ends well with your OH.
My Pleasures today:-
1. A moderate shop at the supermarket today, under budget but my pantry shelves are heaving.:j
2. Buying some foil containers to freeze away some dinners to take on holiday as there is a fair sized freezer in the apartment we go to. It's ages yet but I have some (whoopsied) potatoes to use up so I thought I could do some potato topped meals. The food seems to be so expensive where we go (near Plymouth) and not a YS to be seen. Hoping the money I save will buy us a meal (or two) out.
3. Spending a peaceful afternoon in the garden with DH. He moved some plants to increase our vegetable patch, while I planted up my seed potatoes (in bags) and pricked out and sowed seeds.
4. Nice cheap and easy Tuna Rissotto for tea.
5. A cosy evening with DH. I don't usually have his company in the evening as he's usually upstairs working.
And now to knit.
Oh, and where IS Sparrer?

Hi everyone
1. Spent a wonderful night with DS, DIL and 3yr old DGS. Picked DGS up from preschool, (we live sveral hundred kms from them so its a rare treat. The look on DGS face when we turned up was priceless.
2. Spending a leisurely day driving back home with DH.
3. Visiting my favourite factory outlet store and stocking up on linen ( a major indulgence of mine, but everything was reduced by a least 70%)
4. Making pastuerised apple and grape juice from orchard.
5. Picking the first of our own peaches for the season.
6. Driving down the beach with OH ( in gale force winds) and watching some intrepid surf casters. They really deserve to have a successful catch

1. Picking Dibley up from the Vets after being neutered and seeing him recognise me! Poor little chap was feeling very sorry for himself but was soon purring away when I got him home. Tiggy-tiger got done at the same time as he was having a crushed paw operated on - went in with a sore foot and came out with 'no dangly bits'!
2. Meeting OH at Breast Clinic where he had had to have a mammogram due to large lump having formed in his right breast. Worrying time till Dr said it is a blood clot which will need surgery to remove but is nothing else worrying! Hope your OH is OK - men don't like to think of having to check for anything at all, never mind their breasts.
3. Receiving text from Dad who is on holiday in Costa Rica and he ended the text with lots of xxxx's, something he rarely does!
4. Taking DS to Youth Group then picking him up and he had such a good time. Good to hear of teens enjoying Youth Clubs these days - ours was brilliant when I was a teen.
5. Snuggling down into bed with a good book before dropping off to sleep.
Oh, the simple things in life that give us so much pleasure
Today
1. Cooking HM chicken casserole
2. DD's friend coming to stay and she's a lovely girl so will be good to see her again.
3. Taking friend to the Abbey to light a candle for her Mum who died nearly 2 years ago and it would have been her birthday today. What a wonderful gesture for you enable your friend to do that.
4. Doing a bit of housework in readiness for new job on Monday
5. Spending evening with OH who I don't see much in the week
Mine for today are:
1. Quick trip to Asda and Wilko this morning - needed some files, folders, punched pockets etc for my new course. One big drawback in Asda though - NO WHOOPSIES at 9.00am - ooh tell a lie I got a pack of stringed beans for 75p - now frozen in a bag!
2. Visit from my friend who is a mobile hairdresser. Lovely chance for a catch-up chat and I now look like a newly-shorn sheep instead of an 'Old English Sheepdog'. Nearly had a fit when I noticed how much grey was hiding under my auburn bits! Had to make a booking for just before I go away on holiday - didn't realise how close it will be
- definitely a pleasure to look forward to :j.
3. Paid a visit to DD to help her have a darn good sort-out and try to talk some financial sense into her - not sure that she was listening though.
4. Lovely bacon barm cakes for evening meal with DD that SHE made for me - she hasn't cooked me anything for such a long time so it was a lovely treat:T.
5. Sneaked two 'choux buns' into the shopping to cheer us both up - and I NEVER go near the cake shelves normally.

.......
Olliebeak is the one who has a hessian bag hanging from the coat pegs with about 30 carefully folded re-useable/sturdy carrier bags inside it and STILL MANAGES TO GO TO ASDA WITHOUT A COUPLE IN HER HANDBAG    - constantly having 'CRAFT' (Can't Remember A ******* Thing) moments !
I hate to think how much I've spent on those dratted bags. I'm considering putting a sticky note to myself on the back of the front door just to remind me about carrier bags. Suppose the practical thing would be to keep about half a dozen of the darn things in each bag that I possess :rotfl:.
.......but I DO put loose carrots/onions/parsnips/swedes in my trolley when I'm just buying a few. I don't use our local greengrocer as the quality is not good - would much rather use Asda as their turnover is so great - then I get it home and prep/freeze it all.0 -
Ollie, I also have carrier bags inside a hessian bag hanging on coat hooks behind the door and I forget to take them with me when I go shopping!!! Have put a few in the boot of the car now, but seem to be doing my shopping online more so no need!
Dibley had his 2nd jab whilst at the vets and his nails clipped too as he hasn't been outside yet - dread the day when I decide to let him out as I don't have a cat flap and would panic if he wasn't in when I needed to go out.
OH been and gone to do a surveillance job, he was ok but just wants to get it all over and done with. Thanks for your best wishes xxChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Hello all
My 6 for the day
1. Going shopping with DH and filling a basket with loads of things from Boots and then putting them back because I really didn't need any of them - very pleased with myself
2. Having a lovely cappucino coffee while sinking into the most comfortable leather settee ever
3. DH treating me out to a tasty lunch - burger with melted blue cheese on top - it was soooooo scrummy
4. Sitting in the square this afternoon and a little girl giving me the most beautiful smile
5. Finding a pair of Sketcher crocs at Sport Soccer for £3 and a pair of very
nice sandally pumps for £2
6. Looking forward to and dreading at the same time my niece doing 100ft abseil tomorrow in aid of the stroke charity
Last but not least Happy St. David's Day for tomorrow and Dydd Gwyl Dewi for all the Welsh posters
God Bless all

I'm trying to think positive and am hoping that Sparrer's absence is because she forgot to tell us that she'd won one of those holiday/health spa competitions on the comps thread and that she'd be away for several days being looked after all expenses paid. Please let it be something like that...
jvs, I collect shopping and put it all back then feel extra virtuous too - highly recommended!
Olliebeak, I knew about CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) but I hadn't heard about 'CRAFT' (Can't Remember A ******* Thing) moments before. Made me laugh out loud - I shall use that lots!
Anyway, my five for Saturday:
1. Mending our front window net curtains because the hems had partially unravelled in the wash and hanging them up again. This is a great pleasure because now I can wander round in my jamas first thing in the morning without our busy street staring in at me.:o
2. Drying lots more washing on the line and DS1 bringing it to me to smell the delicious smell of it before he put his clothes away.
3. Our misbehaving BM deciding to make a proper loaf again. Hope it's finished having it's moody and uncooperative phase.
4. Covering the file that is going to become my 'House File' (aka Flylady 'control journal') with some beautiful collaged pictures.
5. Listening to my children laughing and laughing at something on the telly tonight.
Sleep well.0
